@akacoke normally, the EG is the japanese version, just like EK is, but the 4 door 92-95 civics in america actually are EG. its EG8 i believe, depending on what trim (EX, DX, etc.)
oh, and theres k20's with 155hp stock BTW. theres more B-series at the strip than there are K's. as much as i love K's, i believe B-series hold the fastest quarter mile times. hondas fastest 4 cylinder circuit cars are the K powered ones.
Well considering a B series is built for track driving and the K series is used primarily for strip races it doesn't surprise me that the B got beat... put them both on a road course and see if the B doesn't win.

@joescivic bro, the B series was replaced by the K series... the B series is much lighter but can't handle as much power as the K series can on stock parts that's why the K series is used more for drag racing than course racing. Stock the K series engines put out anywhere between roughly 190hp in the 2.0 to 260 in the 2.2 while the stock B series puts out roughly 150hp in the 1.6 to 200 in the 2.0. One is more suited to track driving (B series) and one is more suited to strip driving (K series).

what alot of honda fans over look is the tq on the b20 motor. not only that, the b20 has a great power band like muscle cars. for a k20a2, your max power doesnt hit til 6.5K n your shifting at 8K, while for a b20 your max power hits at 4.6k shifting at 6.2k. everytime the b20 shift, its always in the powerband @ full Power while the k20 has to go through alot more revs to hit full power.
@RobertMoua ive seen b20 vtec dyno graphs. it will be different with a vtec head. the power band isnt always there. it builds up just like all the other VTEC motors ive seen dynod. and my k20a2 makes power earlier than 4000. tuning is a great tool. plus, if you wanted to say we only make power at 6.2, after shifting gears, we stay in the power band anyways. ive beaten ALOT of b20 VTECS with similar power. only once, i lost, and it was a fully built motor with a built tranny.
@joescivic Very true and im glad you also included the fact that its also about the tune that makes great difference. im not saying that the k20a2 is a bad motor. in general, the time it takes a k20 from 1k-8K needs a longer travel time then it does for a b20 to travel 1k-6.2k. b20 cut 2k revs of travel time making the same amount of hp(tuned). this is one factor why the b20 motor has an advantage in building drag racing. But ive seen great k20 builds that do wonders as well.
@RobertMoua actually, my friends with their GSR/b20's with bolt-ons and cams tuned, like the way my k20a2 with just bolt-ons and tune feels more. they said themselves it revs up faster, and feels more torquey. they just like B-series alot, so they stick with it. also, a k20 should have a higher peak torque number than a b20 VTEC. ive seen atleast 5 dynod, and they had about 10-15 less tq with the same power as the k20. i know you're not hating. dont take it like im arguing. lol.

If anyone is able to the the correct tranny or gearings in their car it will make a huge difference. Ive test driven a built b20 vtec(EG8) and k20a2 slighty modded w/stock tranny from a RSX (EM1). what im saying is b20 cuts 2K rev making the same amount of Hp(tuned). Thats less RPM distance to travel as compared to k20.
@RobertMoua So you're saying those guys that build their cars to rev to 10,000rpms are slowing themselves down by revving that high? If its making power to 8600-9000rpms then keeping in the power band and in the shortest gear possible is going to be better than shifting it at 7 and switchin to a longer gear. Also, a stock B20vtec will make power to 8200 so shifting at 6.5 is going to be losing the good, high end part of the powerband. Notice dude in this video is taking his car to like 9000rpm
@k20egcw No, your misconceiving my comment. If we have 2 motors pumping out 100hp/100TQ. Engine A revs from 0-6K RPM and Engine B revs from 0-8K. Both car's first gears tops out at 30MPH. Engine A @ 6K RPM and is traveling at 30MPH, while Engine B @ 6K RPM is @ 22-23MPH and needs 2K more revs to reach 30MPH. The amount of time it takes to reach 30MPH for Engine A is quicker due to the fact that it has 2K less revs to travel compared to Engine B.

@poonpiratex420 k20a2 has 200/142. a k20z1 has 201/140. between the two, the k20a2 has 1 less HP, but 2 more TQ, and every gear is the same, but the k20z1 has a 4.7 final drive compared to the k20a2's 4.3 final drive. the k20a2 also has the best head flow.

@Quaidisraw i doubt it had more torque. what it takes for a b20 VTEC to even reach 220whp, would be intake, header, exhaust, stage 2 cams, intake manifold, and some other shit after being tuned. and it will usually see about 145-150tq. most K20's will just have intake, header, exhaust, tuned, and will see 220whp and have about 160-165tq. i just doubt the EJ6 (not really an EK) had 220whp. it probably had less, and probably wasnt tuned either. ive done these races, and always won in my k20 coupe

I used to do this and with a build b20 vtec with a b18c5 head and blah blah blah amount of other crap on slicks net me a 12.44 with a 1.7 60ft now when my now ls1 was 95% stock it ran high 12's and now with gears headers clutch tires and a home ported set of stock heads and a pred tune it runs 11's. I like hondas but never is a honda a fast bolt on only car..

@gFk2cold k20 will still have more torque than the b20V. plus it will take a cammed, bolt-on, and tuned b20V to make what a bolt-on only k20 will make at the wheels. given the same weight car vs same weight car, both drivers have same driving skill, then a bolt-on k20 will beat a bolt-on b20V.
a bolt-on and tuned GSR 93 hatch will somewhat keep up with an intake, header, stock exhaust k20a2 swapped 00 coupe. thats just because the 93 hatch is lighter. ive done all these races in my 00 K-coupe

@Jlizel because this video is false on that k20 hatch's info. ive done b20VTEC races in my 00 coupe with k20a2 motor, and intake, header, exhaust. one race was an integra with a GSR head, b20 bottom end, intake, header, same exhaust as me, skunk 2 manifold, and i won. it takes a crap load of mods for a b20 with a VTEC head to even match a stock k20's power/torque. they will need cams and bolt-ons to be where a stock k20 is. a k20 with I/H/E tuned can make 220-230whp. the b20 will need ALOT more

@joescivic but its been a while since ive kept up to date, and it looks like the 230hp renault megane r26.r is about 6 seconds faster around nurburgring than the cobalt SS/TC. and thats a FWD car. i dont know what the fatest FWD is actually. but the mazda speed 3 is far behind both of those.

@joescivic bro, the B series was replaced by the K series... the B series is much lighter but can't handle as much power as the K series can on stock parts that's why the K series is used more for drag racing than course racing. Stock the K series engines put out anywhere between roughly 190hp in the 2.0 to 260 in the 2.2 while the stock B series puts out roughly 150hp in the 1.6 to 200 in the 2.0. One is more suited to track driving (B series) and one is more suited to strip driving (K series).

@unexpectedninja4 the B and K are VERY similar in weight actually. just because it makes power, doesnt mean its the meaning of being a track car or strip. suspension, weight, aero dynamics, and power can all have something to do with both kind of racing. the fastest FWD production car is the cobalt SS turbo. it makes 260hp 260tq. and thats circuit racing. and again, the cars i mentioned earlier are all track cars with k-series motors. this is the dumbest argument i came across

what alot of honda fans over look is the tq on the b20 motor. not only that, the b20 has a great power band like muscle cars. for a k20a2, your max power doesnt hit til 6.5K n your shifting at 8K, while for a b20 your max power hits at 4.6k shifting at 6.2k. everytime the b20 shift, its always in the powerband @ full Power while the k20 has to go through alot more revs to hit full power.

@RobertMoua ive seen b20 vtec dyno graphs. it will be different with a vtec head. the power band isnt always there. it builds up just like all the other VTEC motors ive seen dynod. and my k20a2 makes power earlier than 4000. tuning is a great tool. plus, if you wanted to say we only make power at 6.2, after shifting gears, we stay in the power band anyways. ive beaten ALOT of b20 VTECS with similar power. only once, i lost, and it was a fully built motor with a built tranny.

@joescivic Very true and im glad you also included the fact that its also about the tune that makes great difference. im not saying that the k20a2 is a bad motor. in general, the time it takes a k20 from 1k-8K needs a longer travel time then it does for a b20 to travel 1k-6.2k. b20 cut 2k revs of travel time making the same amount of hp(tuned). this is one factor why the b20 motor has an advantage in building drag racing. But ive seen great k20 builds that do wonders as well.

@RobertMoua actually, my friends with their GSR/b20's with bolt-ons and cams tuned, like the way my k20a2 with just bolt-ons and tune feels more. they said themselves it revs up faster, and feels more torquey. they just like B-series alot, so they stick with it. also, a k20 should have a higher peak torque number than a b20 VTEC. ive seen atleast 5 dynod, and they had about 10-15 less tq with the same power as the k20. i know you're not hating. dont take it like im arguing. lol.

If anyone is able to the the correct tranny or gearings in their car it will make a huge difference. Ive test driven a built b20 vtec(EG8) and k20a2 slighty modded w/stock tranny from a RSX (EM1). what im saying is b20 cuts 2K rev making the same amount of Hp(tuned). Thats less RPM distance to travel as compared to k20.

If its making power to 8600-9000rpms then keeping in the power band and in the shortest gear possible is going to be better than shifting it at 7 and switchin to a longer gear. Also, a stock B20vtec will make power to 8200 so shifting at 6.5 is going to be losing the good, high end part of the powerband. Notice dude in this video is taking his car to like 9000rpm

@k20egcw No, your misconceiving my comment. If we have 2 motors pumping out 100hp/100TQ. Engine A revs from 0-6K RPM and Engine B revs from 0-8K. Both car's first gears tops out at 30MPH. Engine A @ 6K RPM and is traveling at 30MPH, while Engine B @ 6K RPM is @ 22-23MPH and needs 2K more revs to reach 30MPH. The amount of time it takes to reach 30MPH for Engine A is quicker due to the fact that it has 2K less revs to travel compared to Engine B.

@poonpiratex420 k20a2 has 200/142. a k20z1 has 201/140. between the two, the k20a2 has 1 less HP, but 2 more TQ, and every gear is the same, but the k20z1 has a 4.7 final drive compared to the k20a2's 4.3 final drive. the k20a2 also has the best head flow.
this video, i think is lying about what the "EK" has power wise, and probably carried more weight in the car.

@Quaidisraw i doubt it had more torque. what it takes for a b20 VTEC to even reach 220whp, would be intake, header, exhaust, stage 2 cams, intake manifold, and some other shit after being tuned. and it will usually see about 145-150tq. most K20's will just have intake, header, exhaust, tuned, and will see 220whp and have about 160-165tq. i just doubt the EJ6 (not really an EK) had 220whp. it probably had less, and probably wasnt tuned either. ive done these races, and always won in my k20 coupe

I dont see why people swap honda motors. I used to do this and with a build b20 vtec with a b18c5 head and blah blah blah amount of other crap on slicks net me a 12.44 with a 1.7 60ft now when my now ls1 was 95% stock it ran high 12's and now with gears headers clutch tires and a home ported set of stock heads and a pred tune it runs 11's. I like hondas but never is a honda a fast bolt on only car..

@gFk2cold k20 will still have more torque than the b20V. plus it will take a cammed, bolt-on, and tuned b20V to make what a bolt-on only k20 will make at the wheels. given the same weight car vs same weight car, both drivers have same driving skill, then a bolt-on k20 will beat a bolt-on b20V.
a bolt-on and tuned GSR 93 hatch will somewhat keep up with an intake, header, stock exhaust k20a2 swapped 00 coupe. thats just because the 93 hatch is lighter. ive done all these races in my 00 K-coupe

@Jlizel because this video is false on that k20 hatch's info. ive done b20VTEC races in my 00 coupe with k20a2 motor, and intake, header, exhaust. one race was an integra with a GSR head, b20 bottom end, intake, header, same exhaust as me, skunk 2 manifold, and i won. it takes a crap load of mods for a b20 with a VTEC head to even match a stock k20's power/torque. they will need cams and bolt-ons to be where a stock k20 is. a k20 with I/H/E tuned can make 220-230whp. the b20 will need ALOT more

Read up on WHY they stopped producing the Supra 3 years earlier in the states than in any other country, and how the US law stated they were "too fast" for their price range for US regulations at that year. And also research how sports car sales in general for EVERY company, including Chevy has dropped over the years. AND the fact that it took Chevy over TEN years to produce a faster car, and they still have to sell it for over $20,000 more. And they're still not as reliable.

and theres a full interior, 210whp 99-00 coupe running 12.9. thats a 25-2600lb car. and a full interior 92 hatch with 214whp running 12.8. the 6.0 is a 13 sec car, but i guess they can run 12.9 if you're really good. im not hating, because i like those GTO's. only problem is, they're too heavy.
but like the other guy said, you can spend about $5-7000, and have a fast civic. theres been quite a few that ran 10's using that much money, including the cars price.

@5469supra so you be spending 15grand with the car, parts, and labor. 15grand can get you a 400hp GTO v8 stock, while your 3-7psi turbo will pull you 250ish hp silly. maybe a old mustang you can beat but 4 cylinders vs other 4 you can beat most of them.
