It is very impressive. However, I would recommend some sort of randomise or wind effect algorithm as the next step to reduce the repetitive pattern. Foaming/spray could then be the following step. Biggest challenge is how it interacts with other objects, especially a beach (e.g. foam, soaking into sand, drag, smoothing of surface such as footprints washing away etc.). This is perhaps where polygon based graphics becomes difficult.
By the way, any idea why the sun reflections look... meshy? The shape of the water and waves is awesome, but why do the sun reflections loook kinda like... a mesh of dots on a printed comic book when you look under a magnifying glass.
That said, epic waves, but the reflections really bother me =/
@Niohimself Is not a reflection problem, it's because of the small bumpmap bitmap tiling that gives more detail to the wave. As far the camera is from the object the pattern becomes more obvious. This can be fixed using diferent bumpmaps according to the camera distance.
I know what it's missing. Wind! Wind effects the surface of the water. You can see gusts moving in from a distance. I've never spent much time on choppy ocean waters before, just small lakes, so maybe it's different.
Also, those waves look like they are near shore. I would imagine waves that far out would be more sporadic and not that uniformly parallel.
Other than that I had to keep reminding myself I was in front of a computer and not out on a boat. Amazing!
Hello. Very impressive video. I've downloaded the program, but it crashes before it creates the render window. Are there any particular requirements? I'm running Win7 32bit Home Premium with DX11.
It's me Thang. This looks so nice. I want to implement a water shader for my demo ha ha. Oh, I send you an e-mail asked about the ground scattering. Good job once again.
This absolutely....looks like an ocean...absolutely amazing.

Would there be any way to drop the water level by 393 feet and then see what the planet would look like ?

The large waves look good but the small ripples are super tiled and totally kills it.

My computer sucked too much dick to run this, the water was a flat surface and the ground was really low-res.
Great demo, though. I love shit like this.
