  • Mac Dre brought me here

  • the day has come. this was meant to be my mourning song for my sweet cat Blu. She went just an hour ago and I dedicate this to her, who was such a special wonder. I thank her, with all my love*

  • when i close my for bed, i feel this song!

  • @ zalpater sorry to hear that. As a fan of joni myself I can tell she was a woman of depth.

  • My late mother loved Joni's work. Goodbye Mum (1942 - 1989)

  • You make us feel so near... You make us feel so akin,,,,,

  • We love you, Joni

  • Haunting.

  • Blue

    I used to be blue

    Until I realized

That blue was just a word

    That we can choose

    Or a word to loose

    M.S. Morrison

  • YEP! I am going to be FIFTY FIVE - BEEN THERE - DONE THAT - THERE is no REASON for BLUE.... Joni is so RIGHT; Whay are we all BLUE??? I will "State the Obvious" (and I am NOT GAY) MEN - DO NOT GET IT.. This song was with me when I moved from Hawait to Maine in my late teens. It made me SAD - and - "Disconnected" at 17 - all alone - from "Bikini's at the MALL" to "Turtlenecks" at the EAST COAST. And Men are ALL the same, no matter... They have ALOT within THEM to GIVE. LOVE - Kathleen

  • first album i bought in 1971 and still one of my best buys . quality never fades

  • check out the version of Amalie haugen øvstedal at 14 y

  • i love the way she says "ass" like she's "been there, done that" lol

  • Oh yea...this is music. So complex but so direct. Gives me chills everytime.

  • Joni is so fucking good. I wish I could find another adjective that evokes as much passion but I can't.

  • Ever since I was a young girl I have listened to this too many times to even comprehend. Now pulled it up and it all came true for me and this is the first song of hers that I ever heard and since then have become one of her biggest fans. That voice...there is no other like it.

  • Bellissima canzone!

The most beautiful song of the Album "Blue"... very touching, perfect... marvellous.

  • Für Menschen

    die noch fühlen können was

    wichtig ist

  • My mom showed me this and im only 13 and i love thiss <3

  • To whom it may concern: Please upload "Dancin Clown"

  • PATTI OCONNELL

  • PATTI REGAN OCONNELLS SONG FER ME DAN OC

  • beautiful voice!

  • Love her <3

  • I wonder if Joni knows that Sarah Mclachlan imitated her intro from "Blue" in Sarah's tune, "Possession"

  • Beyond entrancing and the ultimate in sentiment and fragility. "Hey Blue......there is a song for you" - wow, this is truly the next best album next to "Court and Spark".

  • I love this song but somebody crushed this poorly encoded mp3. So compressed. Why? Destroyed this song for me.

  • thizz in peace mac dre

    theres a song 4 u

  • Emma Watson like her :)

  • GENIUS! AND AN ANGEL.

  • Still haunting!

  • wow this is amazing :O

  • This theme gives me thrills

  • Y DOES THE LORD BLESS HER?

  • @FRANCECHILD BICOS SHE IS BERI GUD.

  • best album of hers has to be blue for me

  • Well there're so many sinking now

    You've got to keep thinking

You can make it thru these waves

  • She takes you on a journey through her songs.

  • @zoologistoyourbee Yes she does..Wildly talented woman.

  • You can't beat joni

  • Well...each to their own I suppose but Musicpriestess ....I wonder what you are using for ears. Joni Mitchell was an absolute original, a huge talent (all these songs are her songs, composed by her, played by her and based on her own life). The Hoffman version is junk in comparison (her 'Hey Jude' cover is even worse!). An 'also ran' in the world of music, soon to be forgotten (unlike Joni who is one of the immortals!). No offence intended...but I find such statements hard to comprehend!!

  • @pootsnoot1000 there are two hannah Hoffmans on Youtube. You are probably seeing te wrong one

  • @Musicpriestess I must be being really dumb or something...but I can't find the Hoffman version on Youtube..and I'm keen to hear it as I would genuinely like to hear a version someone else reckons is better than Joni's. There are a few plinky plonky amateur things by someone of that name...but you must be referring to someone I just can't find...

In fact I would go as far as to say...it doesn't seem to exist..

  • Hannah Hoffmans Version is so much better

  • @Musicpriestess What????

  • @bassettbrendan WHen you hear hannah, you will agree. I know it sounds like a sacrilege but you have to hear her

  • @Musicpriestess the only better cover version of Blue is by Sarah McLachlan.

  • Hannah Hoffmans Version is so much better

  • Nice one, Canada.

  • watch?v=BDR_SHf6GsA

  • This song is a culmination of it all. Like the one drop of water that breaks the dam. Reflective and haunting. The deep expression of a fragile soul.

  • well in jone

  • well in jone

  • i love her!!!

  • BREATHTAKING

  • Nice voice, where she from? Ireland?

  • @adelelala Canada

  • @adelelala Not Ireland, Canada I think.

  • @adelelala canada

  • @adelelala Ireland?? Fucking Ireland??? Aaaargh!!!

  • watch?v=BDR_SHf6GsA

this makes me feel so blue as well

  • canzone stupenda... it's like a dream...

  • 1 dislike

  • GODDESS

  • It makes me fly in another worlds.....

  • @next285 ....yes exactly!!! it takes me somewhere else....and i fell in love with this song through my favorite rapper go figure....it was sampled and that song just stuck in my head and i had to find it. Joni touched me decades after this song was released. Thanks Joni

  • @jessdabest7900 Interesting, who was the rapper who sampled this song? I'm curious....

  • @Vispateresa3 the rapper is Mac Dre, the song is a bonus track off his album "the genie of the lamp".

the track is called "song 4 you"

  • @macdubz Thanks a lot for the info!

  • meravigliosa...

  • 好きー

    love

  • This song is about drugs, but "Cold Blue Steel" is about heroin addiction. Joni

writes and plays songs that are pertinent in her life....probably the best songwriter and female performer we have seen yet. These songs from the 60s and 70s appeal to so many people today which is evidence her talents are extraordinary

  • One of my favourite lyrics of all the time.

    Songs are like tattoo..

    Blue I ♥ you.. ♥

  • This was the first song I played for my new baby boy. 31 years ago. Now I await to play it for my grandson. A timeless beauty.

  • We named our son after this song 16+ years ago. He is currently a phenomenal musician!

  • One of the great poets and artists of our time

  • I was in love with Joni's music since I was about 16-17...Love her depth

  • Acid , Booze, and Ass

    Needles, Guns, and Grass

    Lots of laughs

    Lots of Laughs

those lines are very poetic because I'm sensing there's something

dark about the Song, but very interesting at the same time.

  • Her dedication to giving her fans her soul, almost lead to a nervous breakdown, during the writing of the songs on this album.I wonder how many writers share that dedication to their art...???

  • @TMKchld ....Heath Ledger?

  • @tjrieves I was referring to singers/writers, but he is a great example!

  • Mi amadisima Joni me gustan tus canciones cuando muera me llevare comigo tus lindas canciones..soy la tinta en tu piel.

Hey Blue, THERE is a song for you

    Ink on a pin

    Underneath the skin

An empty space to fill in

  • en 1980 me cayó este album y esta canción en particular me gusto..la había olvidado por completo hasta que la vi en este canal...no solo de rock vive el hombre sino tambien de toda cancion que sale de buenos artistas...........

  • Thanks for this real track. Joni is an artist that will be know for centuries. I feel she wrote the song to her daughter during birth, but hey, I don't know.

  • Thanks for this real track. Joni is an artist that will be know for centuries. I feel she wrote the song to her daughter during birth, but hey, I don't know for sure.

  • Thanks for this real track. Joni is an artist that will be know for centuries. I feel she wrote the song to her daughter during birth, but hey, I don't know for sure. I'm just a fan.

  • What a voice!

  • beautiful . simple and to the point ..and oh so utterly heart wrenching

  • I have loved this whole Blue album since I was 18 years old, I am now 42. It is wonderful when you want to be alone or are feeling alone. It has got me through alot in life.

  • Sick ass sample of what Mac Dre used from this song

''There Is A Song For You''

  • @561buRnz407 WOW! True musical ignorance. Nice job, Slick!

  • @bayviewbob Or maybe this song was simply just before my time? .. It was made in 1976 for christ sake.. Nice way of sounding ignorant calling someone else ignorant in the same sentence

  • Best album she ever did. Got her self straight and it shows the shit she was going through to give this album her soul.

  • You people are like 10 years old. Grow up a little and listen to this.

  • I just read in "Girls Like Us" that she wrote this for James Taylor.

  • @Buanand I've not heard that before. I heard this was written about the conclusion of the 60s, her reflection upon the dying Hippy movement ("Acid, booze and ass, needles, guns and grass, lots of laughs"), sort of an internal dialogue with her depression over the end of an era that had so much promise. Whichever way around, it's a beautiful song that's perfectly executed. Thank you Joni.

  • Such a dirty sweet poet, & an iconic goddess. Love you Joni!

  • Brilliant song ...this and her song 'River' always reminds me of my youth ... non stop festivals and never going home for days on end ...living out of the back of my old 'mini clubman' and Joni on the cassette tape .!!! what more would you want eh ?

  • I loooooove this song and this album.

  • R.I.P. Nila ♥

  • I've heard and sung this song to myself hundreds of times since I first heard it almost forty years ago, had many chills listening to it -- the song, the sentiments putting a period on the sentence of the sixties.

Unquestionably my favorite album of all time, and maybe the best of so many brilliant songs on that album.

  • Songs are like tattoos.

  • liefde

  • I loooove Joni Mitchell.

  • rest in peace to MAC DRE

  • "During this time, I perceived a lot of hate in my heart. I perceived my inability to love at that point. And it horrified me. 'Blue' is an honest album."--Joni Mitchell re: the Blue album

  • Yupp Rob-Lo got this song out to the younger generation who listened to Mac Dre

  • thank you for sharing. I first listen to the Lalavox cover, i didn't know Joni Mitchell. Shame on me but better late than never.

  • @Predalpha74 so true

  • Acid booze and ass needles guns and grass what a line! Written about David Blue

  • What a wordsmith Joni is. Her musicality is brilliant. This album stands the test of time.

  • crown and anchor me, or let me sail away........it's such a thought provoking thing to say.

  • mac dre sampled this song i love you

  • Mac Dre showed me this song

  • hauntingly beautiful - still.....

  • "grass"!!!

  • acid booze and ass needles guns and ??? what's the last thing she says? anybody know?

  • Grass, lots of laughs.

  • @Kheemith she says acid booze and ass needles guns and grass, lots of laughs , lots of laughs

  • The first time I heard this I got chills. I was 13 years old. Rustling through my dads old record collection. The cover alone brought me into Jonis' world. This was one of my most favorite tracks on this LP. River was my first.

  • @Undadogg69 Hi.... I first heard this was i was twelve, 30 years ago... my father was in love with joni mitchell and i have never stopped appreciating her huge talent.... My favourite from blue is a cas of you, but yeah this is a song i will play when im feeling down and need a good cry.....

  • @Undadogg69 My 2 favorites also...great choice.

  • @Undadogg69 - Thank you for posting. I love this. I love Joni period. I also love River. Do you also enjoy the version where James Taylor sings it to her in tribute?

  • @Undadogg69 Same.

  • @Undadogg69 Same here. For some reason hearing this song for the first time shocked me. Like she was describing a part of my mind. This song STILL makes me pause years later.
