Ran into you tonight fresh from Toronto - happy to be back in Vancouver (on the Drive) - you sent me here to listen to your song - so I thought I should let you know I liked it.
I think we all should stop this bullshit about Chris cooperating with Timbaland. Before i get 100 thumbs down, i must say i envy ALL of Chris's songs. No, i don't like "Scream", i dislike it from the bottom of my heart, but i'm sure there's a lot of other people liking what he did, and as darthmto said; "He is a musical chameleon". Some audiences appreciate Scream, while others appreciate his grunge albums. I thin we should stop hating on him. It's 1 album with timbaland, alot of grunge ones.
Soundgarden are awesome, but it is a testament to Chris Cornell and his musical intelligence that he is able to make this, and to make it (from what it seems) relevant to the film that he was asked to make it for. He isnt making music for grunge fans here, but for the specific needs of a movie, and does it well.
chris cornell is amazing, i LOVE scream its an incredible album he is brilliant, always amazing live, a real singer unlike most of the people out there today!!!!
You have dialed in perfection with this sincere, heartfelt, and inspiring anthem for a most worthy mission. Your selfless contribution to this project will no doubt play a role in creating a brighter future for these precious, hurting children. I can't wait for the film!
@013jc a bollywood movie? watch the trailer for Machine Gun Preacher ... I've seen it a couple of times and at no point is there any singing and dancing and I'm quite sure it's set in Africa!
to everyone who doesnt like this song or chris cornell and his work...don´t losten to it...go fuck your self or listen to cristina aguilera...wich would be the same...GREAT WORK Mr. Cornell
Say what you like about Chris Cornell, because, if nothing else, he has talent when it comes to naming things: Soundgarden, Audioslave, Machine Gun Preacher, Temple of the Dog, Superunknown, Cochise, etc. etc. Am I right?
@SirDanOfHell You are wrong: Kim Thayil came up with the name Soundgarden and Machine Gun Preacher is the name of the movie Cornell wrote this song for.
@IntoTheHeartOfMusic Actually, I quite like the name. it's no more ridiculous than Soundgarden, or Iron Maiden, or Creedence Clearwater Revival, OR even The Beatles. Also, you cannot really believe that Kim Thayil came up with the name without any input from the band's frontman. Who was that again? Oh right, Chris Cornell!
I'm not trying to be a dick or anything. But it feels like he wrote this song just for the movie it self. After doing some research on the movie, the lyrics translates perfectly into the movie's plot. Which really disappointed me :(
@Audioslave3 Because his last solo albums has been pretty bad (with the exception of Euphoria Morning). And as soon as he releases something good, it's about the story of a freaking movie.. After knowing that makes the lyrics feels completely pointless.
@voro122 That's bullshit. Because wh "wrote it for the movie" the lyrics seem pointless? It's just a great song with great lyrics.Whether it would be in the movie or not.
@omegalen The lyrics are pointless because: Unlike his previous work, you can't relate to the lyrics at all, the song has absolutely no message to share and you feel nothing at all hearing these lyrics.
This song is about Jesus resurrecting from the earth and keeping the peace in the world. such a beautiful christian song! thumbs for for a halleluyah!
@TheDukeljk Cornell is one of the more unique songwriters in that his lyrics don't always make sense on paper, but they do once you hear them in a song. Also, his lyrics are quite cryptic. Maybe that's why you think they're terrible.
@mcspooger Some of the best artists around do a bunch of different shit, that's what makes them so good and versatile. It really makes you appreciate a monster like Beyond the Wheel more when you see it live and listen to Cornell screaming his motherfucking face off right in front of you, and then watch him sit down on a stool with nothing but a wooden six string and a pick and knock out an awesome fingerstyle folk tune for a small theatre.
The song is very nice. A great effort, if you consider Carry On, which was very tired and boring, or Scream, which didn't know what it wanted to be. He is still great folks.
This song is an example of how Chris has a wide variety and doesn't stay in one genre because some of his fans want him to. This is why he is such a legend. I like the folksy vibe in this song.
@maru89 Are you seeing him in South America or downunder? I caught one of his Songbook performances a few months ago in the United States, I promise you are in for a good fucking show. Hell, you will probably get this song!
@RJOPhoto made me laugh but you dont speak for all of us, some us really like that cornell risked to try some other genre and prove that he is a musical chamaleon
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Chris Cornell fan, from early Soundgarden thru his solo stuff, audioslave, ToTD, ect... but this doesn't sit well with me. The vocals kind of sound like they should match up to some other music.
