However, I've listened to that whole clip countless times on my own audio software, and I can't really say that it sounds like a cry/roar TO ME. i have an explanaition for that its still alive bit, the makers of cloverfeild made another film im not sure if its out or is coming or is straight to dvd but apparently in this film they have something contained by the us military (if its cloverfeild it explains why they have the tape) and its getting shipped by a train and something happens and it gets free but that could explain it.
@Blackpoolsmith naw super 8 is an unrelated film. its just about how an a group of kids captured an alien with their super 8 camera. the plot goes on from there.

But as far as I know, Blackpool, its supposed to be a different creature, and possibly even a different time. However, I know, that they have publicly announced that they are not ruling out creating a sequel to cloverfield sometime in the future.
If you are a movie nerd like me, go check out slusho's website (yeah. there's an actual website for the fake slushy drink company). If you dig around, you find out that one of the key ingredients is something called "Seabed Nectar", which has steroid-like growth and energy hormones. Some people say that Tagruato's Satellite fell into the ocean and that it was infected with the baby monster already, but when it came in contact with the nectar, it grew to giant proportions.
Which one? The opening, during the middle? Where on the video? Some of the music is a cover I played of Damien Rice's "Volcano", some of it is just some free demo music supplied by Apple.

They want to make a sequel, but the movie coming out in 2011 isn't a sequel, it's a whole different monster movie called "Super 8". I posted a video on my profile about the trailer for that movie if you're at all interested.

@thebrownduke Yea me too ive also already heard rumors of super 8 that it might change the name of the movie and small chance it might be a prequel to cloverfield but dont really believe that one. And if cloverfield 2 does come out it might just be the same attack on NY but from a different perspective. But those are some of the rumors ive heard. Either way im very excited to see what will happen with these two movies.

you might want to check out one of the links I posted. I know my video isn't as sharp as I'd like it to be, and there are a few out there that show the satelite/thing a lot better. What it is is a whitish/greyish "thing" that falls like a meteor into the ocean in the back right with a splash.
the 3 secrets... king kong..cloverfield 2 will i repeat will have that monster versus another monster...and i a mguessing its kingkong but iam not sure about the versus...

Lol, Yeah, I knew I saw SOMETHING the first time I saw it in theaters, and I saw the satellite fall in theaters, but the other images and what not, I had to really dig around to find. He did indeed get the story in his head when visiting a Japanese Toystore with his son. He looked at all the godzilla toys and was tripping out on the fact that Gozilla is still a HUGE part of the country's culture, and he thought the USA needed to have their own monster, since they stole King Kong. Not theirs, lol

Thats possible, but unlikely, just because J. J. Abrams' team set up a LOT of secret media and websites that point to an accident with a satellite of a fictional company called Tagruato, in which something "malfunctioned" and sent a chunk of the satellite plummeting somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean on the specific date thats marked in the footage of Coney Island. Does that mean Clover didn't come down with it? No one knows. I like to think it did. Abrams said that Clover IS a baby in NY, though.

Last time I heard on the grapevine, the director was very interested in making a sequel (if not already in the process of working a legit story up for one anyway). I know that he's mentioned to the public that he had a working sequel line in the back of his mind since the time he was filming THIS movie. :) Never say never :) I hope they do make a sequel, but I'm also biased.

Well, some people say it says something forwards AND backwards. I don't really buy into it, but hey. Thats just me :) The one I have hear plays it both ways, and I know you can hear "it's still alive" when you play backwards :)

Actually, if you think about it, the scenes from the old movies that J.J. Abrams stuck in there actually fit in the individual scenes of Cloverfield very well :)

perfect idea for a trailer for a sequel, they can have the trailer set to premier on new years day 2011 and have it priemier on a commercial break for the new years ceremony and show new york being torn to shit (as if it were being broadcasted as breaking news) but make it seem like theres actually a huge disaster in ny, and then at the last minute just show the monster emerge from the destruction. thats probably something only H.G Wells could get away with but tell me its not a genius idea

Yes it is. I usually push others to see that scene for themselves if they don't believe the satellite is actually falling. Most people just want to see it on youtube, but the thing is so tiny that it's hard to capture on a low res video, lol! I'm glad you could see it, though.

That's exactly what happened! JJ was actually IN Tokyo with his son. I THINK he was in a toy store with him when they noticed that there were still a crap-load of Godzilla and Mothra toys, and realized that the movie monsters there weren't just a film to these people, and that it became part of their culture!

Maybe it does! Lol, I've read it says it's still alive, and I always thought that was what it sounds like... but this kind of stuff is always up to interpretation unless the filmmaker tells us straight out what his intentions were... which he does'nt, so it's up for grabs ;)

Thanks a lot! As far as I've collected from interviews with the creators and J. J. Abrams, there is only Clover (the main monster). He DOES however have the parasites which are the dog sized monsters that crawl off Clover's skin and terrorize the city. I know a LOT of people have been saying that the monster on the bridge had a "tentacle" but I've seen an overview of that scene in a computer animation seminar I've taken, and It's just an appendage of Clover. Hope that helps out your quest :)

Well, there is no one real answer for that, as there have only been IDEAs as to the real origin of clover. The directors and creators have mentioned that in their minds, the creature was actually just a baby, and that was why it was going crazy in NY without it's parents. Some people think he was in a trench already, others believe he came down with the satelite piece. If you scan back through the comments, youll find a LOT of other ideas and my own theories on the story. Thanks for the comment!
we don't know if it was truly asleep or not, it may have been in an egg state until the satelite drop. As far as we know there is only ONE of his kind on earth.

Spelling's not important, lol, not on a video comment ;) Yeah, no leads on an actual sequel that I know of unfortunately. Not YET. If J. J. is as inspired by Godzilla as he says he is... and he GENUINELY seems to be, he might do it again, or even make a franchise out of it :) Who knows. God knows theres plenty of other projects he has up his sleeves to keep him busy as it is!
The sources I've used over the last 5 years on movie scoops and what not have been dead accurate, and as far as I know from them, J J and his writers are trying to brainstorm a sequel. Thats WAY too early in the stages to say theres a sequel coming out though. What HAS he been doing? Just finished a drama film about cancer patients called "Anatomy of Hope". "Morning Glory", about TV morning show is in post-production. An untitled project about the USS Indianapolis mystery is in pre-production.
ey dude u forgot one secret. when the satellite hit the wate, like right when it hits, you hear the monster like doing a groan for like a second. that satellite woke up the monster from his long ass sleep and he made that noise, and then when tagruato when to find the piece, they found the monster too and pissed it off (the oil tanker video) and then it attacked new york
I'd agree with your whole theory for the most part, EXCEPT the part where Clover groans... You're not alone on that idea, though. I've spoken with others who believe they hear it too. PERSONALLY, I think that sound is just a noise of the rusty ass rides at the pier they're at at the time, my reason for that is, if you listen carefully, the sound happens while the piece is falling, if it woke clover, it would have to go to the bottom of the sea first :) Thanks for the comment!

it does seem the monster is formed from many iconic monsters from films in the past.
The splash down of the sat and the website does make more sense and would give that scene a reason to be in the movie and stick with what JJ does.
Remember Lost and the Oceanic website etc...
Knowing JJ is is something like this and everything links together.
Or its something daft like the smoke monster from Lost but with a new Form lol got tired of being John Lock

Because if you scroll through the credits close to at 1:23:47 the end it says "stills from THEM, BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, and, KING KONG. So the first time i saw i wondered where the hell does it show those stills in the movie

They want to make a sequel, but the movie coming out in 2011 isn't a sequel, it's a whole different monster movie called "Super 8". I posted a video on my profile about the trailer for that movie if you're at all interested.

@thebrownduke Yea me too ive also already heard rumors of super 8 that it might change the name of the movie and small chance it might be a prequel to cloverfield but dont really believe that one. And if cloverfield 2 does come out it might just be the same attack on NY but from a different perspective. But those are some of the rumors ive heard. Either way im very excited to see what will happen with these two movies.

you might want to check out one of the links I posted. I know my video isn't as sharp as I'd like it to be, and there are a few out there that show the satelite/thing a lot better. What it is is a whitish/greyish "thing" that falls like a meteor into the ocean in the back right with a splash.

Lol, Yeah, I knew I saw SOMETHING the first time I saw it in theaters, and I saw the satellite fall in theaters, but the other images and what not, I had to really dig around to find. He did indeed get the story in his head when visiting a Japanese Toystore with his son. He looked at all the godzilla toys and was tripping out on the fact that Gozilla is still a HUGE part of the country's culture, and he thought the USA needed to have their own monster, since they stole King Kong. Not theirs, lol

the shot of king kong is J.J. Abrams way of paying homage to the original giant monster movies that paved the way for old clover. and BTW teh falling thing is a satilite that wakes teh monster up, not the monster itself

Thats possible, but unlikely, just because J. J. Abrams' team set up a LOT of secret media and websites that point to an accident with a satellite of a fictional company called Tagruato, in which something "malfunctioned" and sent a chunk of the satellite plummeting somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean on the specific date thats marked in the footage of Coney Island. Does that mean Clover didn't come down with it? No one knows. I like to think it did. Abrams said that Clover IS a baby in NY, though.

Last time I heard on the grapevine, the director was very interested in making a sequel (if not already in the process of working a legit story up for one anyway). I know that he's mentioned to the public that he had a working sequel line in the back of his mind since the time he was filming THIS movie. :) Never say never :) I hope they do make a sequel, but I'm also biased.

Actually, if you think about it, the scenes from the old movies that J.J. Abrams stuck in there actually fit in the individual scenes of Cloverfield very well :)
(Ex: King Kong swatting down a plain, when Clover swats down the helicopter; "The Creature" first attacking the city, when Clover first attacks NYC, etc...)

perfect idea for a trailer for a sequel, they can have the trailer set to premier on new years day 2011 and have it priemier on a commercial break for the new years ceremony and show new york being torn to shit (as if it were being broadcasted as breaking news) but make it seem like theres actually a huge disaster in ny, and then at the last minute just show the monster emerge from the destruction. thats probably something only H.G Wells could get away with but tell me its not a genius idea

Yes it is. I usually push others to see that scene for themselves if they don't believe the satellite is actually falling. Most people just want to see it on youtube, but the thing is so tiny that it's hard to capture on a low res video, lol! I'm glad you could see it, though.

That's exactly what happened! JJ was actually IN Tokyo with his son. I THINK he was in a toy store with him when they noticed that there were still a crap-load of Godzilla and Mothra toys, and realized that the movie monsters there weren't just a film to these people, and that it became part of their culture!
He did just as you said. 'Figured it was time the US had it's own monster.
(Even Kong was stolen from an exotic island! NOT American :)

Thanks a lot! As far as I've collected from interviews with the creators and J. J. Abrams, there is only Clover (the main monster). He DOES however have the parasites which are the dog sized monsters that crawl off Clover's skin and terrorize the city. I know a LOT of people have been saying that the monster on the bridge had a "tentacle" but I've seen an overview of that scene in a computer animation seminar I've taken, and It's just an appendage of Clover. Hope that helps out your quest :)

im kinda confused,i think thsi happened clover was under a trench asleep and the SLUSHO satellite went into the water and woke her up, im not sure if this is corrrect but im i dont know why she destroyed the tanker but i think she went looking for her parents she stumbled on NYC and was freaked out and used self defense, can anyone please correct me i dont know if im way on or off, can ANYONE get my story straight please i love this film and how it leaves you hanging but i really need help!

Well, there is no one real answer for that, as there have only been IDEAs as to the real origin of clover. The directors and creators have mentioned that in their minds, the creature was actually just a baby, and that was why it was going crazy in NY without it's parents. Some people think he was in a trench already, others believe he came down with the satelite piece. If you scan back through the comments, youll find a LOT of other ideas and my own theories on the story. Thanks for the comment!

i know about the it still alive thing... as far as i know there not making another one.. makes me sad. but there was this vid that this guy make that was very good about the idea on that the monster threw most of the movie.. and the one that ate.. well tried to eat hud.. were differint monsters. it accaully made some sence.. sorry for the spelling.

Spelling's not important, lol, not on a video comment ;) Yeah, no leads on an actual sequel that I know of unfortunately. Not YET. If J. J. is as inspired by Godzilla as he says he is... and he GENUINELY seems to be, he might do it again, or even make a franchise out of it :) Who knows. God knows theres plenty of other projects he has up his sleeves to keep him busy as it is!

The sources I've used over the last 5 years on movie scoops and what not have been dead accurate, and as far as I know from them, J J and his writers are trying to brainstorm a sequel. Thats WAY too early in the stages to say theres a sequel coming out though. What HAS he been doing? Just finished a drama film about cancer patients called "Anatomy of Hope". "Morning Glory", about TV morning show is in post-production. An untitled project about the USS Indianapolis mystery is in pre-production.

ey dude u forgot one secret. when the satellite hit the wate, like right when it hits, you hear the monster like doing a groan for like a second. that satellite woke up the monster from his long ass sleep and he made that noise, and then when tagruato when to find the piece, they found the monster too and pissed it off (the oil tanker video) and then it attacked new york

I'd agree with your whole theory for the most part, EXCEPT the part where Clover groans... You're not alone on that idea, though. I've spoken with others who believe they hear it too. PERSONALLY, I think that sound is just a noise of the rusty ass rides at the pier they're at at the time, my reason for that is, if you listen carefully, the sound happens while the piece is falling, if it woke clover, it would have to go to the bottom of the sea first :) Thanks for the comment!

The way i see it it groans right when it hits. Abrams has also said that the mon ster was sleeping for thousands of years and i think he said that the satellite woke it up. And it sounds like a monster to me, doesnt sound like the ride. have u seen that picture under the chuai station where it shows the monster and the satelliite? it was then
