@henniebogan1 I understand what you mean my friend about cats playing all chops at NAMM but, you should do your history on people before you make hating comments...this kid has played bass on tour with legendary musicians like George Duke,Dave Fuscinski,Jack DeJohnette, and is also featured on bass on one of Ne-Yo's top singles called Making A Movie! He's a BASSPLAYER first and he's only 20 years old. He's only doing this to let off some steam and of course people at NAMM only judge you by chops.
@henniebogan1 By the way,he was only 16 at the time of this video...you should hear him now...I think your comment would be totally different.Of course it's no big deal because not everyone's gonna like what you do.I've heard people say they don't like my playing and it's no problem because I've made a great living playing bass over the last 20 yrs of my life.I'm not trying to start a fight with you,I'm just letting you know you're off the mark with your comments.Do more research first! Peace!
Its genetics...His daddy plays bass and has the same strong hands Dwayne Thomas Sr. His grandfather was jazz pianist Charles Thomas...The kid was born to play
its crazy cool tht he just plays stright upside down...most lefties i know switch the strings around. i'm a lefty but i just learned it right handed. its interesting to see the ways lefties cope with right handed stuff. this dude is a beast though. hes on the BassSessionz vol. 1 dvd from gospelchops, and hes only like 18, i cant wait to see the innovations he's gonna make once he's older
HMMM!! He's holding out on me then!!! hahahaha! I've seen him write with his left hand.Maybe he's ambidexterous?? I wouldn't be surprised! You still in school there?
Not really sure...this kid has really strong hands for his age and you have to onsider he's playing upside down.He has a bit more leverage when bending just because of that.
That is actually Vic's personal bass and the action is really low too...that helps as well.
Send Vic a note,I'm sure he won't mind telling you...he's really that cool of a guy!!
