@InvasorEspacial007 Yah they get really annoying first 6 months on the job you'll problydream them, well i know i did,but after then you get really kind of used to them
ok. i just listened to the report. the one for pt # 1 is pretty good- likely head injury. did you start a line? give an anti convulsant for sz? gcs?
the one for #2, not so much. he is complaining of chest pain after a major moi and a report was given that didnt include his o2 sats, or lung sounds, or whether he has dyspnea? what about his neuro status, with head trauma?
@m2inla The report you heard were not on our truck. This was radio traffic we picked up on the HEAR system. It was Life Flight bringing in patients to the trauma center.
im a paramedic who only works nights. when i run code 3 i always get a kick out of the person who chooses to go into the oncoming lane as opposed to the right lane when the traffic volume is minimal. a close second is the people who slam on their brakes in the left lane. i usually get behind them and blast the airhorn until they get in the right lane. i like to call it an educational moment in driver's training.
@knpdyeballarice the one you where probly hearing is the one for mediflight, thats what it says in the uploader comments anyway, but i hate to say this they probly where, code three, kind off bad, although hopefully there fine now
look at all of these stupid ass youtube politics below me. its sad that you can talk all that shit on youtube but won't write the first letter to your government
it still boggles my mind how people don't move over early enough, like they can beat an emergency vehicle. funny thing is that these inconsiderate bastards are the same ones that bitch at you for taking too long to arrive at the scene after they dial 911. Since a lot of emergency vehicles now have dash cams, they should also be fitted with crash bars and be allowed to push vehicles out of the way in a safe manner. the video can be reviewed in court and a judge can determine if it was warrented
You will go to Segovia,Spain,in this place , the streest don´t has two meters wall to wall, and the time more less to response is five minutes to activation, whant do you drive go to cardiac arrest?
Perhaps you should also regulate by law you should keep the right lane as driving lane only and when you want to pass someone you use the 2nd or 3rd lane, but then move back to the right lane again once performed the passing.
In my country driving unnescessarily on the 2nd or 3rd lane is penalised by police, you will be pulled over and get a fine for that.
Over there people overtake left and right, that does not seems to improve oversight of any situation...
Are you allowed by law to cross the red light with the purpose or letting the emergency vehicle through? Otherwise, you will, like in this video, be holding up emergency vehicles unnescessarily.
Or is that still a violation for which you will be penalised afterwards for example?
That patient report on that first patient by the medivac. RSI'd head injury that seized. from the motorcycle accident. that's awesome i wish i got good trauma's like that!!
Man the opticom just wasnt hitten those lights for them.
I agree though, these drivers are ridiculous! I guess part of the reason they suck at driving is improper education of the importance of pulling over for lights and sirens.. Shame on them though, common sense and a good heart would solve all of that
"Uh I think I will pull to the right but I need to make a left turn, so I will cut across 3 lanes of traffic with an EV behind me just so I can make my left turn.
This is why they need police and sheriffs always out hiding checking peoples speeds and making sure they pull over for emergency vehicles like a fire truck or an ambulance with lights and sirens on. Those who get caught not pulling over need to get a very hefty fine of 300.00 or more.
hey are you all stupid i want to be a cop people but hey when an ambulance is comeing at you at 75 mph and ther are 100other cars and your at a red you will do just what they all did panick you are left to make a split second dission and its hard to WHEN THER ARE CARS COMEING AT YOU AT 60 MILES AND HOUR so shut up he got there stop your bsin and get on with your life god yes they should pull over fastter but give then a f***ing break.
You should install a High resolution video comerah on the dash or on the box-part to catch the liesens plate number so you can hand it over to the police. In one case i've heard, a police squad car even tailed a rescue squad and got 9 people in one day
@chadg7200 well said, if this is a recurring event, then it would not be a bad idea to be tailed by a few squad cars. If anything it will put the law out to people who apparently have no clue how to drive.

im driver training right now...hes going slow because hes driving a fairly large vehicle with from what it sounds like 2 pts in the back along with a partner or two...every bump, and turn that you feel in the front is felt 10 times worse in the back
This is a professional and at times courteous response. All measures were taken to ensure the safety of all drivers on the road that night. Great job and keep up the good work. Your services are greatly appreciated.
Robert I don't know who you work for but you would never drive for a service in my area. To big a liability. Always stop to clear an intersection. if it is a four way stop, or a stop sign you must drive through, or a red light. . If the flashing lights are on, so is the siren. I know some lawyers that would love to get you on the stand.
This guys driving is certainly not that bad compared to many that I have seen. Today I was driving and pulled over for a medic and they blew right through a red light.
Red light running is normal along as the driver feels it is safe. However, they should be moving at a speed that allows them to stop within the distance they can see, especially at an intersection.
At beginning I would have been silent until that first merge, where the idiots did not yield.
You want to maintain forward motion to show drivers that you are not parked with all lights on - a ridiculous practice.
Then I would have gone left and passed everyone stopped for the red signal.
Not sit there :50 with Yelp panicking everyone. They already know you are there. They are afraid to move into the intersection, though they are allowed.
i think that's just because the camera is higher up.. doesnt seems like its going as fast. cause i notice when im in a big truck it seems like im going slow.. even when going, say 70MPH.. but in a car.. it seems like a im going fast, cause im closer to ground
Question for you...at 2:14 you came to an intersection with a red light and all traffic stopped, and no curb at the turn lane.
wouldn't it have been safer to simply pass traffic on the left rather then use the air horn to force traffic to run a red light and risk causing an accident?
Thanks for the reply to my question. I understand that you were in left turn lane.
Where I work when we run code and come up to this situation we would pass traffic to the left (oppose traffic) to clear the intersection. We do come to a complete stop before passing to the left.
I was just curious about how you handled the intersection. Again Great Video!
Unless necessary for safety, we try never to come to a complete stop.
Once stopped , you look parked and others proceed.
With better sound-proofed vehicles and better stereos, they may not hear the siren, especially if 90 degrees right or left.
We go into opposing lanes rather than coerce drivers to move forward into a red intersection. Though legal, some have been broadsided by cross-traffic as they moved forward to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle.
Where I worked we're required to come to a full and complete stop when rolling code-3 when we come up to a red light or stop sign. If we don't follow policy we can get fired.
We have alot of traffic here, and many drivers fail to yield (both at intersections and in front of us), so if we rolled into an intersection without stopping 1st (even at slow speeds we can get into an accident.
We also oppose traffic (at a slow speed of course) until passing stopped vehicles then speed up.
Your a moron. You ALWAYS come to a complete stop do you know what it takes to get those rigs to stop if your not already doing so and a car doesn't know your coming? Then if an accident occurs its EMS'S fault not the driver who didn't yeild. Shut it and go away
haha he is a jackass....in my state Ohio it is the law to run your siren all the time if your lights are on...he calls that noise pollution and btw i know a guy that went to jail bcuz he didnt stop at an intersection he got sued and lost everything...
The police help us all the time. Never had to cancel due to traffic , but have had to get another unit to cover a call due to being sent to wrong area.
s5medic: First off bro, thanks for your hard work and service. Secondly, how often do police assist you with getting through an intersection? The reason I ask, is that when I was with the Explorer Post of our PD, we'd always block an intersection off with our lights if an emergency vehicle was coming, so that they could get through quickly. Finally, have you ever had a call where you HAD to cancel because traffic was simply too heavy to go through? Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
It's an issue virtually in every country where people drive. Though in places like Vietnam, a friend of mind said that the policy for getting the attention of drivers who fail to yield in advance of the emergency vehicle reaching them, is to use batons on the widows of that car. Certainly a quick way of getting their attention at such a late point.
well here in Ca ita the law to pull over for emergency vehicles rolling code-3
sometimes ill actually pull in front of and ambulance or fire truck, radio into my dispatcher where they are going, then roll code in front of them clear them a path
or sometimes ill follow them, and pull over people not moving out of their way, HUGE fine!
yep yep, a law that actually makes sense to me. i love it when cops hang around us as we're running code 3, they always get some moron failing(refusing) to yield.
btw, how much does a failure to yield ticket go for?
well i dont actually write the fines, when we give tickets, its a promise to appear to court on this so and so date, and will be convicted for this (these) reasons
if someone refuses to sign the ticket, i just tell them, A- you sign it now and will appear to court on this date, or B- i arrest you, you sit in jail until this court date, your vehicle gets impounded, and your son in the back goes to child services, usually they sign the ticket then lol
nature of the emergency the fire/ambulance was responding to
i had one, where the child did not make it when ems got to the incident, and i pulled someone over for not moving out of their way, and the judge completely went off on the driver and i think he fined him for something like $1200
ive never seen a judge so pissed before, he was upset that the child didnt make it, so if the person would have moved, could have been 30 seconds that may have saved his life
yeah, i know cops don't actually write the fine in California, i've lived here most of my life and have gotten my share of tickets, oops!
I knew they were crazy expensive but $1200, wow! my husband is a cop and in his 12 year career he has only given a few dozen failure to yield to EV tickets, drivers are pretty good at yielding for us here, and only 1 moron fought it, that one came out to about $400 but it was some years back.
yeah i think ive only written mabeee... a dozen or so faliure to yeild tickets, most of them around the $300 range, but like i said, this judge was pissed off at this guy, because he had a bad attitude, disrespected the judge and myself, and on top of that, the child who the ems was responding to, did not make it
so im guessing it was just a chain thing, of the judge not having his coffee that day, already having a bad day, this idiot comes in cussing and disrespecting everyone, and just yeah
They just put a similar law into parliament so that drivers who fail to stop and fail to slow down when passing any emergency vehicle, will receive a fine. It's a great law.
what station yall at one on koneig or whatever or by regan high skool and were yall heading and why do you never film it all the way to where your going or the city wont let you and use your air horn if your running code 3
10-4 um we have an airport blvrd. and that one looks like da 1 in austin use you aire horn alot more at every light if your running c-3 and use federal q if you got it
I have backed my videos up to where you can now see the hood of the ambulance. I hope to get that one posted in the next few days. Stay tuned and thanks for watching.
the people in your community are polite compared to mine. that idiot in the black didge at 4:35 who was probably blasting lil jiz, notorious pid, or dickie smalls is they typical driver in my town.
i roll with 2 simultaneous sirens, minimum. i use the air horns for people like that idiot.
Just keep in mind that yes, sometimes you have to get there fast, but you have to get there. Sometimes speed is not the answer. If you were to get in an accident, then what?. Just something to think about. Thanks for the comments and your rights to your opinion.
thats not right. u have a person thats life is in danger and even though it wasnt a major emergency what happens when it is. u got 2 get there quick. if there so concerned about cars speeding they should have more cops on the road checking speed. but im not sayin its your fault your just do what they tell you to do and im not blaming you. this is just my opinion.
True, you do have to respond quickly, however, there is no sense in the paramedics getting in an accident while en-route to the the call or if they are travelling to the hospital with a patient.
as I have stated before, conditions do not allow for high speeds on this roadway, its just to dangerous. Even though traffic was light. This road has 4 of the most dangerous intersections in the entire state of Alabama. Thats 4 out of 10. And patients condition did not need extreme speed. Thanks for the comment.
The air horn IS your friend, learn to use it. I bet you could have gotten there at least 2 minutes faster had you used the air horn with all the traffic..
Yes, speed is reduced on highways. I am not sure about the states, but in Canada, emergency response vehicles can only go roughly 10-20 Km over the speed limit if on a Code 3.
here in california we're allowed to do up to 15mph over, not that it's an issue with our new buses since the speedometer is jammed at 80mph and our freeway speed limit is 65mph.
i like how nobody pulls over to the right.. :/ fuckin idiots. No one understands how frustrating it is unless your an emergency responder. nice vid :)
when i get on a scene and someone asks "what took you so long?" if patient is not serious than i always try to explain in a professional manner that it is drivers like them that refuse to yield because it will slow them down by 3 seconds, people like them who fail to properly address their homes, and people like them who call 911 for non-emergency reasons. do i have to say that i've got a few complaints on my record.
as I have stated before, conditions do not allow for high speeds on this roadway, its just to dangerous. Even though traffic was light. This road has 4 of the most dangerous intersections in the entire state of Alabama. Thats 4 out of 10. And patients condition did not need extreme speed. Thanks for the comment.
It was an emergency, just not an immediate life or death call. The running code 3 allowed to get to the hospital quicker, as the lights on Airport Blvd. can take up to 1 minute or longer to cycle.
we were exceeding the speed limit on this city street. No we were not going real fast because conditions would not allow. This is a very busy road, and has at least 3 intersections on it that are in the top 10 of the most dangerous in the State of Alabama. And patient condition did not warrant extreme speed. Sometimes high speed is not necessary. Thanks for the comments.
Just to comment on twoid's comment. Just because were going with lights and sirens doesn't mean we can ignore all the rules of the road. We still have to follow some laws so we don't endanger other drivers. So we cant just throw on the lights and sirens and drive like mad.. I can't even count how many times I've almost gotten in a serious MVA driving code 3.
If you watched the video I did use the turning lanes when they were available. On Airport Blvd. You take what they give you because that road is so busy.
Come on, pull over? Be for real. Drivers are too busy listening to the radio, talking on the phone, text messening, chatting with the passenger. Everything but paying attention to their driving or the road or whats coming up behind them.....
Unbelievable...I'd say 1/5 at most get out of your way in a timely manner. WTF is so hard to understand about the concept of pulling over for lights and sirens? It's not just a matter of obeying the law. How would these A-holes feel if it was *their* family member dying in the back of that ambulance, and people didn't get out of the way? Really depressing.

We go into opposing lanes rather than coerce drivers to move forward into a red intersection. Though legal, some have been broadsided by cross-traffic as they moved forward to get out of the way of an emergency vehicle.
robertgift 2 years ago
Where I worked we're required to come to a full and complete stop when rolling code-3 when we come up to a red light or stop sign. If we don't follow policy we can get fired.
We have alot of traffic here, and many drivers fail to yield (both at intersections and in front of us), so if we rolled into an intersection without stopping 1st (even at slow speeds we can get into an accident.
We also oppose traffic (at a slow speed of course) until passing stopped vehicles then speed up.
MikeEMT609 2 years ago 2
We have no such ridiculous rules.
If clear, we continue.
Not stopping is easier on pt, vehicle, brakes, drive train and saves fuel and pollution.
Also, the sooner we are out of everyone's way, the less fuel they waste and pollution generated and less impact on traffic flow.
I have silently passed stopped traffic by traveling in opposing lane #1 at 60 mph! (On other side of raised median.)
If we can't see/ensure that it is not clear, we slow as necessary, or stop if necessary.
robertgift 2 years ago
Your a moron. You ALWAYS come to a complete stop do you know what it takes to get those rigs to stop if your not already doing so and a car doesn't know your coming? Then if an accident occurs its EMS'S fault not the driver who didn't yeild. Shut it and go away
adam022695 2 years ago
He asked what Code 3 meant. 10 codes were fun.
We stop only if necessary.
No dumb: "You must come to a complete stop." BS.
If not necessary, we don't stop.
Me PC? Funny.
robertgift 2 years ago
What is Code 3 ? Can anyone tell me pls
n00kielong 2 years ago
lights and sirens
s5medic516 2 years ago
Code 3 = 10-39 = emergent: lights and siren
Code 2 = 10-38 = urgent but not red lights and siren
Code 1 = when you can get to it.
Code 4 = no further assistance needed. Others en route can slow or return to quarters.
10-4 = OK or message understood.
10-7 = out of service, such as arrived at hospital with patient.
10-8 = in service or responding.
10-9 = please repeat - did not hear or understand.
10-20 = location. later "What's your twenty?"
10-23 = on scene
robertgift 2 years ago
Your a moron if you knew anything about EMS you would know we don't use 10 codes.
adam022695 2 years ago
haha he is a jackass....in my state Ohio it is the law to run your siren all the time if your lights are on...he calls that noise pollution and btw i know a guy that went to jail bcuz he didnt stop at an intersection he got sued and lost everything...

The police help us all the time. Never had to cancel due to traffic , but have had to get another unit to cover a call due to being sent to wrong area.
s5medic516 2 years ago
is this in Bowling Green KY?
kweatherford1 2 years ago
s5medic: First off bro, thanks for your hard work and service. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

to bad the pit maneuver is not allowed.
s5medic516 2 years ago
It's an issue virtually in every country where people drive. Though in places like Vietnam, a friend of mind said that the policy for getting the attention of drivers who fail to yield in advance of the emergency vehicle reaching them, is to use batons on the widows of that car. Certainly a quick way of getting their attention at such a late point.
InuKun2008 2 years ago
well here in Ca ita the law to pull over for emergency vehicles rolling code-3
sometimes ill actually pull in front of and ambulance or fire truck, radio into my dispatcher where they are going, then roll code in front of them clear them a path
or sometimes ill follow them, and pull over people not moving out of their way, HUGE fine!
2007tacoma 2 years ago
yep yep, a law that actually makes sense to me. i love it when cops hang around us as we're running code 3, they always get some moron failing(refusing) to yield.
btw, how much does a failure to yield ticket go for?
medperson1 2 years ago
well i dont actually write the fines, when we give tickets, its a promise to appear to court on this so and so date, and will be convicted for this (these) reasons
if someone refuses to sign the ticket, i just tell them, A- you sign it now and will appear to court on this date, or B- i arrest you, you sit in jail until this court date, your vehicle gets impounded, and your son in the back goes to child services, usually they sign the ticket then lol
ive seen judges range the fines, due to the
2007tacoma 2 years ago
nature of the emergency the fire/ambulance was responding to
i had one, where the child did not make it when ems got to the incident, and i pulled someone over for not moving out of their way, and the judge completely went off on the driver and i think he fined him for something like $1200
ive never seen a judge so pissed before, he was upset that the child didnt make it, so if the person would have moved, could have been 30 seconds that may have saved his life
2007tacoma 2 years ago
yeah, i know cops don't actually write the fine in California, i've lived here most of my life and have gotten my share of tickets, oops!
I knew they were crazy expensive but $1200, wow! my husband is a cop and in his 12 year career he has only given a few dozen failure to yield to EV tickets, drivers are pretty good at yielding for us here, and only 1 moron fought it, that one came out to about $400 but it was some years back.
medperson1 2 years ago
yeah i think ive only written mabeee... a dozen or so faliure to yeild tickets, most of them around the $300 range, but like i said, this judge was pissed off at this guy, because he had a bad attitude, disrespected the judge and myself, and on top of that, the child who the ems was responding to, did not make it
so im guessing it was just a chain thing, of the judge not having his coffee that day, already having a bad day, this idiot comes in cussing and disrespecting everyone, and just yeah
2007tacoma 2 years ago
so he charged him up the ass, once i heard the fine, i actually went and told my sgt, we both were laughing our asses off back at station
the judge even threatened to place more charges on him because of his mouth and attitude if he said 1 more thing and revoke his licence
... so yeah i guess he learned the hard way not to disrespect a judge lol
fined him $1200
2007tacoma 2 years ago
oh he was one of those lovely creatures of the almighty, lol!
medperson1 2 years ago
They just put a similar law into parliament so that drivers who fail to stop and fail to slow down when passing any emergency vehicle, will receive a fine. It's a great law.

Nice, smooth driving!
So important for patient care and safety.
Idiot drivers at :30 deserve tickets.
But, if you STOP, you appear PARKED and they continue. By the time they hear the siren, it's too late.
(This is the fault of LE for parking with ALL lights operating.)
Slow a little earlier and try to keep moving.
It appears your siren is not projecting well.
Perhaps the lens somewhat on telephoto is doing that.
Widest is best for most detail, peripheral view and least jerkiness.

i find t3 on top and the wail on the the bottom of the wheleen system is most effective, along with the air horns.

Just keep in mind that yes, sometimes you have to get there fast, but you have to get there. Sometimes speed is not the answer. If you were to get in an accident, then what?. Just something to think about. Thanks for the comments and your rights to your opinion.
s5medic516 3 years ago
thats not right. u have a person thats life is in danger and even though it wasnt a major emergency what happens when it is. u got 2 get there quick. if there so concerned about cars speeding they should have more cops on the road checking speed. but im not sayin its your fault your just do what they tell you to do and im not blaming you. this is just my opinion.
fdny1234 3 years ago
True, you do have to respond quickly, however, there is no sense in the paramedics getting in an accident while en-route to the the call or if they are travelling to the hospital with a patient.

as I have stated before, conditions do not allow for high speeds on this roadway, its just to dangerous. Even though traffic was light. This road has 4 of the most dangerous intersections in the entire state of Alabama. Thats 4 out of 10. And patients condition did not need extreme speed. Thanks for the comment.

suravian666 3 years ago
Yes, speed is reduced on highways. I am not sure about the states, but in Canada, emergency response vehicles can only go roughly 10-20 Km over the speed limit if on a Code 3.
TRIXSTER03 3 years ago
here in california we're allowed to do up to 15mph over, not that it's an issue with our new buses since the speedometer is jammed at 80mph and our freeway speed limit is 65mph.
medperson1 2 years ago
oh really, I didn't know they did that to the speedometers. I don't think our cars have that feature yet. The new buses might. Not 100% sure though.
TRIXSTER03 2 years ago
The one's that don't move over are the same one's that say, " What took you so long?"
s5medic516 3 years ago
This such a true fact. I think it is pretty ignorant when people don't move over for any emergency response vehicle.
stupid drivers.
TRIXSTER03 3 years ago
i like how nobody pulls over to the right.. :/ fuckin idiots. No one understands how frustrating it is unless your an emergency responder. nice vid :)
cmanleyspy 3 years ago 7
exactly right, and they won't understand until either themselves or another family member have a medical emergency and "we took too long"
something we gotta deal with though, they just won't understand until it happens to them.
bullzisnipr3 3 years ago
when i get on a scene and someone asks "what took you so long?" if patient is not serious than i always try to explain in a professional manner that it is drivers like them that refuse to yield because it will slow them down by 3 seconds, people like them who fail to properly address their homes, and people like them who call 911 for non-emergency reasons. do i have to say that i've got a few complaints on my record.

s5medic516 3 years ago
oh okay now i know.
i just thought that "code 3" is a "real" emergency you know ;)
787LZG 3 years ago 2
It was an emergency, just not an immediate life or death call. The running code 3 allowed to get to the hospital quicker, as the lights on Airport Blvd. can take up to 1 minute or longer to cycle.
s5medic516 3 years ago
haha yeah 787lzg you should know the whole situation before making a comment,, good response, stay safe 5/5
krazyjk022 3 years ago
we were exceeding the speed limit on this city street.

I can't even count how many times I've almost gotten in a serious MVA driving code 3.
traumateam2 3 years ago
youre a tubesteak for getting caught in that traffic..why not pass on the left in the turn lanes??
