I play for country artist Shawna Russell, we had the honor of opening for the Judds on their "Last Encore Tour" this year. I always loved this song just because of the beauty and power, but when you see her do this live, WOW!!! If you don't get a tear in your eye there's something wrong with you! Powerful performance!
I have listened to many relationship ending songs, but I don't think any is more beautiful and sad as this one. Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make you Love Me" is close and then there is George Jones' "He Stopped Loving her Today". These songs make us hurt so much, so why is it that we listen to them over and over?

I used to listen to this song 17 years ago when I was thinking about leaving my husband. I was so depressed because I found out that I couldn't have children. This song described so much of what i felt. I didn't want to leave but felt like I just wanted to be alone so no one would see me dying inside. I stayed and 4 months later God gave me a son by adoption, he is 16 now and I am still happily married. I have never told anyone this and this song still makes me cry.
@MsMatthewsMom - So glad you're able to look back from a much happier place. Songs sure can be powerful, they take us right back to where we were at the time, good or bad. It's painful sometimes but I love it, makes me appreciate where I am now..
@MsMatthewsMom God bless you and you husband. I Hope you don't throw away your adopted child as they get older! My adopted father and mother threw me away when I told them I was gay! They adopted me at 11 and got rend of me at 38...........
@ProvoTN - I bet I enjoy it more than you! I absolutely love to watch Wynonna sing, but when I hear her I think that must be what it is like to hear angels. Always moved beyond words and usually to tears. Love, love, love her :)
