If they had written this song, and had a history of writing songs with similar lyrical themes, you might have a case. However, most bands that write songs with satanic lyrics are really just in it for the shock value (see Slayer and Motley Crue). It is simply a good song and as such it is no surprise that they covered it. By the way, Hetfield is Catholic.
