First song heard at a Dead Concert,. So it has some meaning. Even more that the clouds moved away at the start of the song and got really hot. Coincidence yes, but a little bizarre in my state of mind at the time.
90s dead was the best to my ears and still is ... not that I dont like the early years .. it just makes my hair stand up when I here this one and I live in NY and winter sucks so this song as many meanings. RIP JG
no way kewlbreeze. Brent took the band to new heights and vince was the best singer they ever had. I dont listen to keith years cause i just cant take the crappy piano
@morningdewd1953 Glad you liked it, but, no way - no how, their best shows were without a doubt from '72 thru '78, which is maybe 2 periods anyway. "73 & '74 ('75 also?, can't remember) featured the famous Wall of Sound sound system (you can look it up here in youtube), and shows in '76 & '77 were some of the best ever, period. Njoy all the music!
@kewlbreez this is my favourite period of the dead for sure, vince&hornsby, playing style, instruments, new sound system, cant be beat by anything from the 70`s for me.. peace..
@kewlbreez It's all purely subjective. I tend to like some of the tunes in earlier renditions, some in the "middle years," and others sounded better to me in the "later" years...
@dog1dog2 Agreed, almost like they sped up and jazzed up some slower songs and made them so you would have to think about fast forwarding to the next song. But I still like the Original Good Morning Lil School girl with Pigpen.
@doubletopsecret1 It's funny you mention that specific tune, as I was reminded of just how much I liked the Pig version of it earlier today (heard it as the bumper music for a sports-talk radio show of all things!).
I was there, and I remember Healy throwing out those board cords... We tapers went ape shit. But, I think that's one of the reasons Dan got fired. IT was Phil and the pole up his ass at the time...
These Chapel Hill shows were killer, these were the two shows Dan Healy threw out cords from the sound board to the tapers. They went nuts and we got some great sound tapes. The next night had a awesome Due and The Weight for the encore.

Cutler's mix was never as good

@JoshuaTaylor he was also making some odd mixes, such as cutting people of of the PA mix if he thought they were not playing well.
