Here is the answer: Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare ARE socialism and all are unconstitutional. The problem is this establishment Republican can't speak the truth and simply say to this loudmouth propagandist, yes they are socialism. Ron Paul is the only republican who would have given the obnoxious interviewer a straight answer.
Why anybody would ever rely on MSNBC, FOX, CNN or any of the other MSM outlets for their information is beyond me. They are nothing but propaganda.
@ugagndox because all these idiots making millions of dollar salaries on these cable news stations actually believe what they say is how it should be..as if no one can think for themsleves without going on air and making a complete assclown out of themselves.
It is socialism and they should repeal them both, its broke and it doesn't work, Larry is an ass and I hate msnbc, the internet is the best sorce for information.
ODonnell needs to shut the fuck up on this one. If you know the congressmans point is contradictory, let him hang himself by allowing him to speak and asking the right questions. I cant stand when people talk over each other and the debate becomes incoherent.
O'Donnell is making a great point that this scumbag is dodging. Republicans shriek about the evils of Socialism, but you don't see them scrabbling to remove all the other socialist systems we have in place. Among them Medicare, Social Security, The EBT Program, Housing Assistance, The United States POstal Service, and the list goes on and on and on and on. Scumbag: 0 O'Donnell: Too many points to count.
O'Donnell is a jack off and a fool. He is a dying breed in bankrupt in a bankrupt system. The empire is crumbling from this entitlement system. His ignorance pretty much echoes the nation tho. No one wants to cut anything even tho this system is going to collapse hard. Government's ultimate solutions to this bankruptcy will be to come down even harder on the people to try and keep it together even tho it is doomed to fail. All empires end this way.
The point was the the radical far Reich are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. If you accept the Medicare, then universal HC also must pass your "constitutional" muster.
Some cretins might argue that with universal HC, some people might not pay into the system and are subsidized by others. In case of Medicare, we do have a similar situation where people who have paid little to none into the program get coverage once they turn 65, regardless.
Yes, single-payer, government-provided health insurance is socialism and it is a proven failure.
Yes, Social Security is socialism and should be repealed and America's seniors WEENED off of it. The program has been "amended" almost 20 times since it was instituted because it DOES NOT WORK and IS GOING BANKRUPT.
Yes, Medicare and Medicaid is socialism and should be REPEALED and American citizens WEENED off of it. Free, American citizens were not meant to rely solely on the government.
@dmreeoogdaq OH REALLY! yes let's repeal Social Security and Medicare, but lets start with your and your family's benefits! You're a typical hypocrite, like Michelle Bachmann who rails against Medicaid except when it paid $200,000 last year to her husband's clinic!
Mr. O'Donnell of course he can't answer yes or no, you refuse to close your mouth long enough for your guest to answer the questions you ask. I really can't imagine why Comcast chose to buy MSNBC, unless they are willing to get rid of people who won't let guests answer questions. It's not just this show, even Chris Matthews is "behaving badly" the motto may say Lean Forward, but it's more Lean way to the Left.
lawrence o'donnell = admitted socialist, works for a major corporation, gets paid money in a capitalist system, but doesn't donate anything to the treasury... liberals are so full of shit because they always put someone else's money where their mouths are, if all these self-righteous liberals would just donate 3 % of their income to the treasury then I would shut up, but we all know thats not going to happen, eat shit and die liberals
@Trader5822 No, but that cluster of immunocompromised gene muck extracted from your mother's reflexively gaping crotch 75 years ago is an absolute joke.
I think Lawrence is doing an amazing job here. Sick of all those tv presentators who never ask direct questions.. they always seem to get away with vague answers, he's just going straight to the point.
And this assclown is not a dumbass? Mmkay. Might as well come out and say that you like it when pundits and commentators act immaturely only if they're liberals.
@regelemihai Of course. I don't mind what Bill O'Reilly does, I just think he's a dumbass. I don't see how it's immature to just ask a question directly, I just wish O'Donnel would leave him more time to answer. But yeah, obviously I like it when they actually ask legit questions instead of asking the President if he knows about football, O'Reilly style.
People complain that O'Reilly interrupts and acts boorishly. I can sympathize with that, but not with hypocrisy. They scream and shout as if their beef is with his behavior and not with his politics. When morons like this guy or that Chris guy from MSNBC's Screwball act the same if not worse(a lot worse when it comes to this guy) they remain silent. O'reilly asks a lot more legit questions than this guy does. He at least lets the guests answer, this one just follows his erratic...
And you might call it "understandable" just as I might call O'Reilly's bouts understandable when he questions democratic officials who support socialism. Frustrating indeed.
@regelemihai And I'll add that his behavior is understandable, every time a democrat tries to pass a law, Republicans go crazy and call it socialism. It's just so frustrating...
The problem for Republicans is that the citizens clasp so tightly to these entitlements & believe that they CANNOT be taken away and are NOT wrong that they don't want to hear from anyone that they're going to take them away.
No Congressmen are trying to take them away, that's different from believing they are Socialism. But what O'Donnell was trying to do was make it appear this guy is actively working to take them away so he won't get re-elected.
@TimeWarp66 I disagree with abolishing it, but I respect you, that's precisely mine and O'Donnell's point, though we have some added opinion, that the GOP understands that socialism can and has been effective in many cases, and shouldn't be villianized so much.
michigan and ohio have been decimated by outsourcing of good paying union jobs. not a part of any liberal agenda, but reganomics. california is not the liberal fiscal state you propose either, privatization of government has led to many of their woes, like many other states. conservative states consistently rank the lowest in several "well being" categories like education, income and income disparity, access to health care, drop out rates, teen pregnancy, civil rights, prison populations...
The anchor is right medicare should be replealed, it is another example of big government overextending and going broke. We can't cut off benefits to people who paid in, but the only reasonable solution to a program $trillion in unfunded liabilities is to phase it out over time.
@tomitstube how exactly do you "fund" tax cuts for the rich? Considering taxes are the government forcefully taking a part of your income, tax cuts mean the government takes less of the money people work for, so your analysis makes no sense.
he's a "jeffersonian republican" and a "texan"... that's proof he's a piece of shit lying thief right there. i wish that banana republic of texas would fucking secede. good riddens you lying thieves!!!
@tomitstube yeah, screw their 5 percent unemployment and massive revenue streams to our gov't since they actually allow businesses to prosper with caps on frivolous litigation and few onerous regs. texas actually contributes money to this nation and doesn't need bailout after bailout like Michigan, Illinois and California (all 3 in top 10 most indebted states) and who consistently prove to be on the wrong side of economic issues.
@umrmecheman ~ lol, "5% unemployment" in texas? what's your source cowboy? it's 8.1% sept. 2010. ranked 21st - bureau of statistics. tort reform in texas is a joke, malpractice suits have been cut in half while insurance rates continue to sky rocket. tort reform has done nothing to stem costs for doctors, hospitals, or patients. victims are now double victims with no recourse while private insurance companies pocket malpractice savings and continue to skim 1/3 of every health care dollar.
I dare say that lawrence is THE guy I'd love to meet on the street more than even olby!! I'd kick the living dogfuck out of this asshole. I've only seen him a few times, and years ago- on Scarborough, I believe, and he was exactly this way while trying to slap anything conservative, yet ACTING all fair and balanced. He is seriously unbalanced and a complete fuckface dick.
I would punch O'Donnell in the nose if he spoke to me like that. What a rude dufus totally lacking in manners. Must have been drunk again on the air like Matthews.
lawrence o'donnell is awesome! if you listen to the right wing LIARS right now, they are talking about getting rid of social security. it has a 180 billion surplus. unfortunately the idiots thumbing lawrence down are complete tools for the privatization of social security.
and when your only retirement left (thanks to private industry doing away with pensions) goes belly up in some derivative scam who will you have to blame? huh? there's a reason he's hammering this thief you idiots!
@tomitstube 180 billion surplus? The NY Times disagrees.
w w w.nytimes.com/2010/03/25/business/economy/25social.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1286463801-PAsC13FD1BStiXWkO8xF3Q
Social Security is slowly dying and something will have to be done to fix it. If nothing is done it will no longer exist. Same goes for Medicare. It is fast approaching, the time is now to face the facts.
@WSOR4025 ~ yeah, there's a media blitz by billionaires and wall streeters to privatize social security. congress robbed the surplus blind to fund wars and tax cuts for the rich and now they want to just hand over trillions in paycheck payments to wall street. if bush had succeeded in this 10 years ago millions of seniors would have nothing. don't believe the bullshit, they're thieves and liars. fight for social security, don't let these fuckers steal the only retirement you have.
lol this isn't hardball it's paid for agenda curveball. this odonnell guy doesn't even let people speak without interrupting them every other word... wtf??
He's right! This is the reason no one watches this channel. It has become a total parody of itself. An "interviewer" is supposed to ask questions and let the viewer LISTEN to the response. This show is apparently just built around some jackass screaming at people. My 4-year-old niece can do that too! I think I'll send a resume for her into MSNBC. You might be saying, "maybe she needs some discipline," but I has always thought that "journalists" had to display some, too.
O'donnell is pathetic..more recently Joe Scarbourough had to pull him off an interview and do it himself...this guy SOOOO wants to BE somebody, but sadly he's jus plain pathetic!
Lawrence O'Donnell is exactly right in this interview. Medicare and Social Security ARE socialist programs. But don't stop there, Lawrence, explain how both programs are going bankrupt, how they represent trillions in unfunded liabilities, how eventually we will only be able to afford the interest on the debt created by these entitlements. I see two big turds in this video... each only interested in telling half-truths to score points... neither interested in telling the whole truth.
Larry has the contagious virus called the "Olbermann Syndrome." This will cause Larry to fall into the "Chris Matthews phase." and he will believe that he is his own guest, in other words, he asks and answers every question. The next phase is the Bill Maher phase and he will find himself starting to spend time in Hugh Hefner's grotto and believing the women when they tell him "you were great."
Lawrence O'Donnell has a method of interviewing people, which involves talking about one thing and repeating it constantly and yelling louder until the guy gives up.
There's no talking to O'Donnell because he's an incompetent asshole who doesn't let people talk (if they're Republican). That's why MSNBC is on the same immature level as Fox News. I hope his ratings go down so that he will never have a show again.
O'Donnell did this with Peter Schiff as well. Yes O'Donnell is an elitest globalist pig and I'm sure he goes to the Boehemian Grove each year in California to party 'hard.'
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Hahaha... I don't know who O'Donnell is, but he made that Texan look like a hypocritical douchebag. "MSNBC has no viewers, but I'm PISSED that you called me a liar on national television". Hahaha... fuckin' Republicans.
This guy is no journalist. MSNBC needs to strip him of the title just like they did to Olbermann and Matthews. Are there any NEWS people left on what was supposed to be a news channel? It's all vitriolic anti-Bush (note to MSNBC, he's not the President anymore) wailing. Good grief. What a buffoon. I live in Culberson's district, he's a thoughtful conservative who stands by his principles. O'Donnell trying to 'trap' him into saying something for a "gotcha" was just a waste of time.
He's just there to create drama. He knows he's acting like an idiot, but he thinks it'll get ratings. Someone thinks it'll get ratings, obviously.
It s not effective though--at least at getting more support for the Dems or Obama. It makes Obama et al look like full fledged Bolsheviks who'll attack anyone who doesn't get in line.
I guarantee you, this is the last think BO and the gang needs--this clown being a hack on TV.
Wow...can this country just get on with Blowing the F'up, so we can rebuild it without corp. media and fascist Goldman Sachs. I wish I could time travel and get my 2:09 back
Another bad interviewer. But this Culberson only on pointing out TV ratings.... if you wanna restore our country to its constitutional framework, we gotta change our monetary system to something for the people... maybe an honest one. Bump these grants. They are grants in worthless paper from an unproductive nation. Probably borrowed from china again. We are not allowed to be productive in this purposely unsustainable fiat system. A debtor nation based on credit... forever?
I LOVE seeing a politician get grilled and sweat whether they are republican or democrat. I love how this 'republican' who claims to think like the founding fathers is afraid to say Medicare is bad for fear of losing votes his next time around...
I agree. He is a fake trying to exploit the the liberty movement and the fight against tyranny.
Along with other members of congress and people like Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh..
Everyone who is complaining now with Obama but said and did nothing when Bush was in office sicken me.
The people who should be given credit for this movement are the ones who spoke out and have been warning us what would happen long before 2009 or even 2001, like Ron Paul or Andrew Napolitano.
O'Donnell is a filthy shanty Irish prick fuck. Would someone please cuntpunch him already.

I would punch O'Donnell in the nose if he spoke to me like that. What a rude dufus totally lacking in manners. Must have been drunk again on the air like Matthews.

lawrence o'donnell is awesome! if you listen to the right wing LIARS right now, they are talking about getting rid of social security. it has a 180 billion surplus. unfortunately the idiots thumbing lawrence down are complete tools for the privatization of social security.
and when your only retirement left (thanks to private industry doing away with pensions) goes belly up in some derivative scam who will you have to blame? huh? there's a reason he's hammering this thief you idiots!
tomitstube 1 year ago
@tomitstube 180 billion surplus? The NY Times disagrees.
w w w.nytimes.com/2010/03/25/business/economy/25social.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1286463801-PAsC13FD1BStiXWkO8xF3Q
Social Security is slowly dying and something will have to be done to fix it. If nothing is done it will no longer exist. Same goes for Medicare. It is fast approaching, the time is now to face the facts.
WSOR4025 1 year ago
@WSOR4025 ~ yeah, there's a media blitz by billionaires and wall streeters to privatize social security. congress robbed the surplus blind to fund wars and tax cuts for the rich and now they want to just hand over trillions in paycheck payments to wall street. if bush had succeeded in this 10 years ago millions of seniors would have nothing. don't believe the bullshit, they're thieves and liars. fight for social security, don't let these fuckers steal the only retirement you have.

A PERFECT example why Fox News Channel is the #1 Cable News Network.

This jack ass dont let the person he is asking questions answer. Hes right thats why nobody watches the Bull shit NBC!
donttelluseenme 1 year ago

Lawrence O'Donnell hates America, someone prove me wrong.
chrisbraly 1 year ago

Where does MSNBC get these elitist airbags? I try to be objective and watch these idiots and last about 3 minutes.

Hahaha... I don't know who O'Donnell is, but he made that Texan look like a hypocritical douchebag. "MSNBC has no viewers, but I'm PISSED that you called me a liar on national television". Hahaha... fuckin' Republicans.
Britton001 2 years ago
This guy is no journalist. MSNBC needs to strip him of the title just like they did to Olbermann and Matthews. Are there any NEWS people left on what was supposed to be a news channel? It's all vitriolic anti-Bush (note to MSNBC, he's not the President anymore) wailing. Good grief. What a buffoon. I live in Culberson's district, he's a thoughtful conservative who stands by his principles. O'Donnell trying to 'trap' him into saying something for a "gotcha" was just a waste of time.

O'Donnell. O'Donnell is an actor.
