There is no doubt in my mind that the 4 supervisors I had to deal with over a 4 year period in my job were psycopaths just like this man. Yes it has a definition but like this case there is some traits that apply and some that don't. It doesn't mean this type of psychopath is any more similar than another.

Yeah, I've come across his writings about Narcissism over the years. He really is a Cerebral Narcissist. Highly Intelligent, yet a Psychopath, he is not. His self awareness is too high, he can mimic a Psychopath, but pieces of his conscience are there. It may be fragmented and triggers may lower behavior controls, but he's not completely devoid of empathy. He likes to Eff with minds, he's a Narcissist no doubt. He can fly off the handle, but he's burdened with a conscience never the less.

Sam Vaknin, whether he is a narcissist/anti-social personality or a psychopath, needs someone to give him a good smack. Normally I would say he is just an attention seeker but he is extremely intelligent, cunning and seems to just be part of a rare breed of psychopaths; those with skills of introspection (psychopaths generally have less intenal dialogue than others, they don't really know themselves).

I think he is a psychopath, the fact he can single out weak victims proves it.

While psychopaths are considered organized, manipulative and in some cases "charming" (however falsely), sociopaths are much more random in their actions, and see no need to hide their disorder in any way. Pretty much, while psychopaths pretend to blend in, sociopaths have no desire to. One could say sociopathy is an extension on psychopathy, considering their incredible similarities. The main difference is the desire to cover up one's intentions, however bad.

The sociopathy v psychopathy dichotomy is very complex, I agree with most of what you say but I don't think the ability to veil your intentions is the dividing line between the two; isn't it more a matter of the reason why someoen display callous/anti-social traits? I.E. sociopaths are born and psychopaths are made.

Social skills can be low in sociopaths (usually their social skills have a strong positive correlation with their general intelligence levels), but they can continued.

Not all psychopaths are the slick, organised types. Some psychopaths are forever in jail, they are so psychopathic that they are quite literally atavistic, you can't see how they have survived into civilised times. True though, most psychopaths, at least those with normal-bright intelligence levels, can mask their true nature well, but the more extreme ones can't, they are basically ferral.

However, it does depend on the severity, as when the intensity of one's psychopathy is strong enough that nothing will give them feeling, a "rush", except for the cruel, violent actions that so many seem to show.

Yeah, I think they are a discrete group (i.e. you either are a psychopath or you aren't one) but that within that their pathologies exist on a spectrum. Some of them can be very convincing, very sophisticated and are able to fool everyone around them, others are, as you say, pretty much 'what you see is what you get' (a callous, violent psychopath).

Sadly only the latter kind, or those approaching that end of the spectrum, are available for study.

There are emotions, but they are different. Basically, psychopaths can't feel love, remorse and many other "higher" emotions, but they can feel anger, happiness of some short (perhaps amusement would suit better), fear (it is comprehended differently, much like an adrenaline burst). And also it depends on severity of psychopathy, since it is not a "black and white" issue although many want to put it as such. Also, keep in mind that psychopaths can be just faking emotions to cause pity.
