Even with this inconvenient, is a great video. Many times security guys don´t let us take videos. I meet people who have been in legal problems doing that!
I went down to the platform to other day to check out the ACES train, no issues at all. I stayed back from the doors and well in front of the train so they knew i was there for photos & not a passenger. Even talked to some folks who work for amtrak & NJT. I would have talked to the engineer, but he was busy getting ready to take her out. NYP is an awesome place to get trains. I recomend platforms for track 3, 8, 11, 12, 15 and 21. 11 and 12 are in the middle and are the longest.
I just found out that they put up signs by every platform door at Penn Station saying "Warning: Authorized Personnel only. Violators subject to arrest". I mean. Who the hell would wanna take picture inside a terminal anyway?
yea thats the post 9/11 world we live in i wanted to tape video at penn station in newark but they are always njt police there so i dont bother I dont need trouble
Don't let anybody stop you from taking pictures of fliming. I know the feeling about cops taking your name & ID's. Next time you come to US espcally on the east coast, You better off going to an outside point to film and take pictures. It's lets heat at the stations. Stay out of major terminals they haves cameras watching every little things. Chiago, IL I got stop by the cops I told them I was a railfan that when I stop taking pictures at majors terminals in big cities.
yea its mostly in new york, i live in dc and other than in restricted government areas or the pentagon metro station, no body give a shit about filming or photos... i got my camera confiscated at secaucus a stop of jersey transit when i was goin to my aunts house, and i am 15 years old,
That´s the point: I looked for signs everywhere, since I wasn´t sure if one is allowed to enter the platforms without a ticket. But I dindn´t see ANYTHING like it! Otherwise I would have respected it.
Well NOW they have signs in New York Penn Station. I guess they put'em up after 9-11-07. Cause' I went to Penn Station in November 07 and they had them there. you know what I mean?
@NThusiast the last time i went to penn station-- (a few months ago) you couldn't get on the platform without a ticket,- i remember seeing a 2 security guard with a M-16 riffle and 2 german shepards- checking everyones ticket
NJ Transit and Amtrak allow photographs in and of publicly accessible areas. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong and should be reported by calling whichever agency they are affiliated with.
The only exceptions to this were related to the inauguration which have been lifted as of jan 21 2009.
i know what you mean, they think everone is a terrorist. they should just search the Muslims for bombs and leave the other races alone cause when was the last time you heard of a hispanic commiting a terrorist attack?
does New york get any good freight action?

New York was hit the hardest on 9/11 which is why they barely let you tape trains there, and they put up signs at penn station too.

Well, why were you filming trains?? And yeah, they have tons of security guards in Penn Station...that's their job.

This is what they should do. Instead of just saying no right away, just have them search you, and ask for a photo ID!
