In the beginning I thought too that Annete didn't fit in Nightwish, but Dark Passion Play was recorded without knowing who would have sung then, that's why her vocals are like this. I heard the demos for her solo album, and she sings totally different, she doesn't even seem herself. If the upcoming album is sung like that I swear it will be a masterpiece.

Anette DID save Nightwish! Without her, Nightwish wouldn't be here anymore. And if you people like to complain about the current singer of Nightwish, then think how it would be if there was no Nightwish at all anymore. Then you could have a reason to complain. But for now, Anette is who we have. And Anette is not like Tarja, but she has her own talents. Now, why do people have to complain about a change in someting? Out with the old, in with the new! @kat2156 I was a fan of the first hour, i loved nightwish the way it was, enjoyed them live. i don't have any of the new albums with annette. i'm not saying she's not a good singer but for me it simply doesn't work anymore, don't like her style, too mainstream. you can say what you want about tuomas being the soul of the band and the music being the same just different singer etc. it simply isn't. a voice is a huge part of a band's identity and they lost that part with tarja. simple as that.

Seems it should all be about the band as a whole. Regardless who is singing the MUSIC is still epic. Tarja's voice is much better suited for the larger than life sound of the first albums, but Annette's voice is more melodic. Nighgtwish has changed somewhat, imho, to suit the new singers voice. But Nightwish is still Nightwish no matter who carries the vocals. EPIC!

@Nightwishoneandonly I first heard of Nightwish with Annette (symphonic metal was never my thing in 2006/2007 but the past 2 years I've discovered the awesomeness of bands like Kamelot and the past couple of months I accidentally got into Old Nightwish when I heard their cover of Phantom of the Opera, so I got End of An Era on CD and I've been hooked since then. :(
