I think the issue with none of Michael Jackson's true close friends not being there to honor him, is like you said all this happen within a 48 hour time span. Everyone was still in a state of shock. The best thing BET could've done was have a moment of silence with MJ's pic on the big screen.

Also BET & MTV are both ran and owned by Viacom now.

I can't really see why else they would squeeze things together than a lack of funds. I, as a black woman would sure be displeased if funds were not the issue. There was not any energy in the performances. You can tell they just put something together for MJ when they should have just wanted and gave him his own tribute show. YOu hit the nail on the head with this review. It was awful. I didn't see all of it but what I did see was poor quality performances. What I did enjoy was Monica, Tyrese& Johnny Gill. Trey Songs was ok. I like Keysha Cole but I don't ever want her to sing with Monica or any other powerful singer again. Monica's voice and skill is so rich that Keysha paled in comparison. Monica's voice and people who equal her talent is what's missing in music right now. I'm looking forward to her next CD.

i just clicked on the link and saw that video and the whole time i was shaking my head. it was stupid how lil wayne and drake pulled those underage girls on stage for that type of song. and at the end when they say "rest in peace michael jackson!!" and they didn't do anything dedicated to him!! they had to censor out most of the song!! that's just plain disrespect!!
