London is the model city for rapid transit in the world, (in my opinion anyway), I have lived in allot of places and now I'm stuck in a car on the 405!! LOL Actually "Carmageddon" turned out to be so much more mild than people in the news media made it out to be. I made it home today from San Diego in record time...on the 405!!! lol ....to be continued.
i live in belfast and we have a train system but compared to our fellow brits in london are transport system is rubbish london defiantly has IT when it comes to transport
I know it's sad but I love the London Underground. As a student getting around London, learning the routes and figuring out how to get to places on it is actually quite fun. I was surprised at how safe and clean they were.
Though I do hate public transportation, I have to agree that in London it is really better to use the tube! I moved to London from Munich, Germany more than three months ago. Back in Munich I used to drive with my car everywhere and hated any kind of public trasportation. Here in London, however, it is even fun, because I always meet new people on the journey to my university, and quite often some nice girls, so uncomplicated here :) still, I will buy a car for weekend trips to the country!
London Underground dirty!!?? Ha, I live in the U.S. and have been to London several times and always found the tube to be safe, clean and free of scumbags. Try taking the subway in New York City if you want to see dirty...they all smell of piss and puke, are FILTHY, UNsafe and filled with homeless scumbags. I'll take London over N.Y.C. anytime!!!
not the biggest fan of the tube crowded, dirty and some stations are real shitholes which are quite dangerous at night still its the fastest and cheapest way to get around london
@proppkrot All lines are run by TFL(transport for London) who also run the buses & some surface railways:-Overground & DLR(Docklands light railway). They are a public body overseen by the Mayor of London
How correct are you! I don't live in London, but I know for a fact that 70 - 75% of the population use public transport, with a large proportion of this using the tube. It is the best way to get to work. The guy talking about cars should try and fight his 'fuel efficent' car through the London traffic each morning.....then...and then try and park it. Plus, we can add the congestion charge into the mix for good measure.
oh, I thought I was overwhelmed enough in my city because of the traffic and struggling to park, but then I knew London....congestion charge is such a burden for car drivers!
yeah, I was there last week, going by Underground is quicker, I live in Mexico City and it's the same shit here, if you go by car it takes forever to go anywhere

Well, so you did end up here? you came by plane and you DID end up here? the point of my comment was for you to reply and let me know if 1. you GOT HERE and 2. ou had a nice time? of course it was by plane, i had allready assumed that much anyway
Yes, I did get there to London for sure :-) I enjoyed my time for the most part yes, but is very different than Canada, and also a very large city compared to Canadian ones.
But you like it at least? i been to London a few times, i live in England. i went to New York City a few years back, amazing. i think new york is way different..very nice city..all i know about canadian cities is that you have one called "Toronto"
I enjoyed it. But technically it isn't the "tube". London has two types of line. This is "cut and cover" because they cut a trench and then covered it. The lines run just under the surface and the trains are full size. The real "tubes" run deep under London and the trains have rounded tops to fit in them. Type "London Tube Train" into YouTube and you'll see a video described as "Tube train coming into Holborn Station . . . " which illustrates the point.

Nice one. Reminds me to stay where I am now though.London is great but I wouldn't want it to be my everyday reality. And that lady with a bag! Can't believe someone can feel so guilty as to carry ' Faithfull' bag around!

If I ever go to London,I would not attempt driving. I would use the 'tube' of the double decker bus. Cheeper and less stressful.

Does anybody know why there is a big gap between the plaform and the door entrance of the train ?
canman5060 1 year ago
@canman5060 the gap really isn't more than a few inches at most, i studied there for 4 months and had no problem mate!
huybrecht19 1 year ago
@canman5060 Because some of the Tube platforms are very circler and the tube carriages are straight.
TomCEaton 1 year ago
@canman5060 Not at all staions only when the station is on a curve.

Making out the underground is for the poor!
Aren't you silly! Most of the people on the tube are travelling to work at their jobs, many high earning jobs too.
Besides the point of a car in London is like nothing, takes forever to get anywhere! The tube is quicker.
I think it's fun(: look at it with a bit of positivity rather than constant moaning and such. Grumpy thing!
Have a nice day!

The good parts about the london tube:
-Comfortable seats
-Big trains
-Good layout with stations pretty much everywhere and many line connections.
The bad parts:
-Overcrowded
-SO FREAKING HOT IN THERE!
-It breaks and has technical problems a bit too often
Anyways, it sure is different than the Montreal Metro (Subway)

What is the station's name at 1:30 ?
I'm pretty sure i've been there a long time ago.
I was thinking of it as a train station, as a child, because of the difference with the tubular tube.
