@philoftheshadows Agreed. Both are great guitarists, but one may have different aspects that are better than the others like finding a new sound. Heafy seems to favor speed while Wylde has his signature wah tone, but Wylde has speed as well. In some ways they sound similar. Obviousy Wylde has years more experience than Heafy, but Heafy is pretty damn good for his age. Ide say its more of a "no contest" cuz both play fuckin amazing LOL.

Everyone likes different things and what sounds good to one person might not sound good to another. People like Matt more and people like Zakk more. But some people saying that Matt can play more technical stuff than Zakk, haven't REALLY watched Zakk play. The thing is, Zakk can play all the kind of stuff he plays, AND all the stuff Matt plays, both with ease. Zakk puts more soul into his playing and has had a more diverse musical history than Matt. I love them both equally though! :D

Matt actually puts more variety into his playing (sort of...). It's a weird match-up. I prefer Matt's playing though since Zakk's is really rough and messy sounding.

I don't know what to say. In terms of playing in time, and how clean they play, Zakk Wylde is better. It's noticeable, especially towards the end, that Cory and Matt have trouble playing together and maintaining tempo. However, Trivium's guitar players are more creative with what they play.
