  • Im a old school gamer i like my old games ever since i had my 2600J. I also like my new games too ,to me it doesnt matter what console or PC i just like games, all hardware and software. Real gamers dont play COD for 24hrs straight ,real gamers play Duke Nukem 1 24 hours straight lol. Im not talking duke3d im talking Duke1 2d platform 91 Dos style. Now im starting to hang for some oldschool fun ,might bust out 2600 missile command, megamania, air sea damn so many im gonna play this list could go on

  • @fpvshitsonhsv Well, I have played that since I was 4 years old and i can't find it 2day:( But i need 2 know where I can download it so I can play the original Duke Nukem

  • Thats one of the old Odyssey2 games that I never played. Sure looks like my brothers and I missed out on sub chase big time. We would have had a blast playing this game.

  • This game looks incredibly fun. I want this game!

  • OK, I'm a huge retrogamer myself, starting in the 2600/C-64 days, but I'll even admit the Odyssey was a little too basic for my tastes. I totally agree, though, how can you not love retro games? I'm still trying to get my bf into old NES games, but like so many, he's a graphics whore.

  • Wow, I cant believe that dust protector on the bottom of the cart wasn't implemented on the consoles after the Odyssey. Proves how amazing 1st gen consoles were.

  • War Hawks=epic FTW WIN

    War Doves=hippies

  • The submarine was definitely a SUB PLAYER BAHAHA!!

  • The manual was actually more fun than the game itself :)

And truth to be told,Air Sea Battle for Atari 2600 is miles better.

  • Haha, the manual was actually more interesting than the game itself.

  • By your logic, the novel/movie should be renamed to "20,000 Leagues Under The Surface of the Sea" or "20,000 Leagues In The Sea"... ;-)

  • I hate these filthy neutrals ships! With enemies you know where they stand but with neutrals? Who knows! It sickens me.

  • this game absolutely sucked, i owned the oddysey 2 with almost all the games btw

  • hey check out my review of the Magnavox Odyssey 2

  • They never run out of Pong variations...

But this game is really cool.

  • I own this game (as well as the older version of the Odyssey2, I think the reviewer's is a slightly newer revision, possibly with the detachable controllers?) And it's alright. I love the art on all the cartridges, it's all pretty same-y, but it's also all fairly unique. Cool system, just hooked it up to my HDTV (for pure irony) and played it a little bit.

  • If you're looking for entertaining instruction manuals, look for "Uniracers" for the SNES. In my opinion, the BEST game manual EVER.

  • Sold my G7000, 15 years later I bought it back and it's now sitting on my shelf:)

  • How much are these things worth? I have one of these sitting in a box and it's been down there FOREVER.

  • The exploded sub looks like a crunched cracker.

    This game was hard.

  • i just got my odyssey yesterday my friends always ask me why do want all these old game console instead of an xbox360 or a ps3 and i tell them why would you want an xbox360 or a ps3 when you can have an odyssey 2 or a sega genesis

  • @retrogameshow yeah i alreays ask that when i get posed that question. i usually just tell people the reason, because i like old games, challenging and fun and about a scenario and gameplay. not trying to be a film like todays games are...i like new games. but old games are still better i think

  • dude, these sound effects really bring me back! thanks! I used to love this game. This and pickaxe pete, and another one that was some kind of car racing game :)

  • @sinephase lol my mom said something simeler

  • My dad got a big collection of games and systems from the 70's,80's,90'sand this decades systems.

  • Really? Cool I hope he does, chain mail and comments are dumb :)

  • One of the first video games I ever played back in the early 80's/late 70's when I was one or two years old.

  • @MasterOrHan1 , ya, im sure you were playing video games when u were 1 or 2. you couldnt even keep your pampers clean yet, nevermind play video games. get a grip man.

  • @RetroArcadia Damn, you responded to a year old comment to say that? My first memories were with an Odyssey 2, it didn't look like shit back then the way it does now. Is there any reason I couldn't play a game at that age? STFU & GTFO ------>, you don't know what you are talking about.

  • @MasterOrHan1 ,haha, yeah, there is a very good reason you couldnt play a game, because you were 1 YEAR OLD. thanks for responding to my comment and not making me wait a year, thats big of you.

  • @RetroArcadia any 1 year old can play those old simple Odyssey 2 games, there is nothing to them. They aren't like modern games.

  • @MasterOrHan1 True, my parents actually have a picture of me in 1982 (I was 18 months old) playing Space Invaders, but that's the magic of retro games; even a small child can wrap their head around the concept, but even now that I'm almost 30, there's still a lot of challenge in getting higher scores. I never really played for scores until recently, and it's like finding a whole new reason to play retro games... I keep my own high scores in a spreadsheet so I have something to aim for.

  • @rchrdcrg Those games were simple to play. A really small kid can play them, not necessarily be good at them. I like saving my high scores in MAME too, to see if I can beat them later.

  • i wonder if classic game room will ever review spacewar, the first video game ever made.

  • Ask him with a pm. What system was it for?

  • it was the first game ever, so you will have to play it on one of those huge 1960s computers, or you can find a free pc version, i think.

  • Thanks, I'll check it out.

  • He reviewed the 2600 version.

  • i meant the 60s computer version.

  • Well that might prove a challenge. Plus that game's probably been done to death by now.

  • Aqua? Surely more a tint of teal!

  • gamers are shuch grafics whores today

  • What? Graphic whores?

    What does that mean?

  • they mean that nobody cares about gameplay and fun these days but about graphics

  • Of course they do! Expect for some snobby little shit ps3 gamers.

  • I don't mean all of them, but those... Graphics whores!

  • no x360 players-.- care about graphics they say that it is better than ps3 graphics whats not true

  • Both sides moan about graphics, mate. Only folks who don't are Wii fans.

But that's irrelevant: modern console wars have no place on a CGR comments page.

  • @maxvago1234

    and they are whiners, too

  • @knaagi ahah my spelling sucked a year ago

  • @maxvago1234

no worries, i gave you a thumps up anyway.

  • I stand completely neutral when it comes to gaming (except for sports games, they're just crap). I really do enjoy retro gaming and the games that feel like they were made on a budget of 20 cans of beer and a chocolate bar but I also get fascinated with the graphical masterpeices such as Crysis. I really don't like the new consoles though, they break all the time, arn't revolutionary in ANY way atall, and I just don't find them fun... PC and retro gaming owns :)

  • I love those O2 instruction manuals.

  • Isn't it interesting that the manuals for today's HD, 3D, million-dollar budget games are far less complex and compelling?

  • Pigeon Peace-Loving Bi-Plane, Ahahahahahahahahaha....

  • piegon the peaceloving byplane lolololol

  • So you are not a retro gamer? WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WATCHING THIS REVIEW THEN?!? I'm born in -95 but i dont care about the fucking graphics. I love old games much more than newer ones. I own a 360 but i still prefer older ones like the console in the review or the SNES from the 90s.

  • lol same -96 love retro games and the odyssey!

  • Good for you.. Im so annoyed that people think we play games thinking of the graphics just 'cause we are young! There are actually a lot of young retro-gamers here in finland.. Too bad the games cost like fuck here!

  • Mä en ees löydä mist ostaa atari 7800... Voikko auttaa?

  • @Vkmies i was born in late 1995 and i collect the older ones good grapics or not they're good games!!!

  • @Mrnintendo64guy Damn Straight, fellow -95'er! XD

  • @Vkmies Im born in 90 and I love the SNES, but seriously, there is no way I could love the magnavox oddissey 1!! maybe this one but not the first one.

  • @Vkmies I'm a 13 year-old Atari fan all the way!

  • @Vkmies THANK YOU!

    Another teen retro gamer!

  • @Vkmies I'm with you there, man. 14 and I own an NES, SNES, N64, Mega Drive, and more.

  • @SuperNESFreak thats not that retro, thats only like half of it.... >_>

  • @Vkmies some people who arent retro gamers might still be interested in seeing what a retro game tends to bve like and so they watch the video.....then more or less might end up hating it

  • @Vkmies SAME. Born 1994. Real Retro Classic games can't hold my attention for long, and I'd rather play something more modern, but I'd rather play Soldat with bad graphics then Crash Commando for PS3 any day. And I like watching these reviews :)

  • i had this and was so bored i poured kool-aid inside it

  • I can't believe I own an Odyssey 2, let alone this game. Intellivision games tend to be slightly more engaging.

  • i would like to have one of these for my collections, so far the oldest i got is comadore 64 and nes.

  • I used to play on an Atari game system in my grandparents' basement when I was a kid. These reviews really take me back... keep 'em comin'!

  • you are right my friend what you said the old and best years

  • Those carts were really well made!

  • AWESOME. Had odyssey2 syst when i was like 4yrs old. I can't believe you still have the manual, system, cart in SUPERB condition. That stuff was super expensive when NEW. These kids today don't know how lucky they are to have PS3s and cell phones.

  • Great review

  • It is funny the amount of quality that went into the cartridge and the user manual. Now they just stamp out a CD or DVD and put a crappy dry user guide in there. Although now with the newer titles the manuals look really nice. Remember the NES manuals there were just thrown together....

  • No way, take a look at the Legend of Zelda or Super Mario bros 3 for NES manuals or a ton of SNES manuals and you'll see they had great full colour pages with tons of art and often even mini comics

  • yeah you are right they were the exception. I never owned those games new. They were way to expensive at the time 50 bucks WTF so i got them used 5 years after release, never came with manual. The ones i got were really cheap games and not really good.

  • i dig the jazzy new theme music thrown in there.

  • oh i remmember a more modern remake of this,i loved it ^_^

  • "It's actually submerged within the ocean."

I laughed quite a bit at this line of reasoning. Good point.

  • it is. "lurked beneath the ocean's surface" was probably what the instruction manual writers were after...

  • what's the name of the 3rd opening theme song?

  • Since you seem to know so much about old games. I thought i would run this question by ya. A few summers ago i played a game that looked like an old atari game on Yahoo games. The game was you are a orange fish and have to eat smaller fish till you get bigger. I think you also get points to for each fish. Could you tell me the name of this game?

  • fishing frenzy

  • Thanks for the info.

  • The Odyssey 2 never looked better!

Any chance we will see some Odyseey Voice! games?

  • love the new intro mix

  • i think it funny that people thjought that was the best graphics ever but now

  • I'd say it's more turquoise personally ^_-

  • shweet

  • ive been watching these videos a long time and i just want to know, what song does he use for the intro and outro.

  • Generic stock music.

  • where can i get me some uh dat?

  • nice reviews

  • nice one. try fire mustang for genesis, it pwns

  • rader than ure mom!!!!!!
