Im a old school gamer i like my old games ever since i had my 2600J. I also like my new games too ,to me it doesnt matter what console or PC i just like games, all hardware and software. Real gamers dont play COD for 24hrs straight ,real gamers play Duke Nukem 1 24 hours straight lol. Im not talking duke3d im talking Duke1 2d platform 91 Dos style. Now im starting to hang for some oldschool fun ,might bust out 2600 missile command, megamania, air sea damn so many im gonna play this list could go on
@fpvshitsonhsv Well, I have played that since I was 4 years old and i can't find it 2day:( But i need 2 know where I can download it so I can play the original Duke Nukem
Thats one of the old Odyssey2 games that I never played. Sure looks like my brothers and I missed out on sub chase big time. We would have had a blast playing this game.
OK, I'm a huge retrogamer myself, starting in the 2600/C-64 days, but I'll even admit the Odyssey was a little too basic for my tastes. I totally agree, though, how can you not love retro games? I'm still trying to get my bf into old NES games, but like so many, he's a graphics whore.
Wow, I cant believe that dust protector on the bottom of the cart wasn't implemented on the consoles after the Odyssey. Proves how amazing 1st gen consoles were.
I own this game (as well as the older version of the Odyssey2, I think the reviewer's is a slightly newer revision, possibly with the detachable controllers?) And it's alright. I love the art on all the cartridges, it's all pretty same-y, but it's also all fairly unique. Cool system, just hooked it up to my HDTV (for pure irony) and played it a little bit.
i just got my odyssey yesterday my friends always ask me why do want all these old game console instead of an xbox360 or a ps3 and i tell them why would you want an xbox360 or a ps3 when you can have an odyssey 2 or a sega genesis
@retrogameshow yeah i alreays ask that when i get posed that question. i usually just tell people the reason, because i like old games, challenging and fun and about a scenario and gameplay. not trying to be a film like todays games are...i like new games. but old games are still better i think
dude, these sound effects really bring me back! thanks! I used to love this game. This and pickaxe pete, and another one that was some kind of car racing game :)
In 2003 there was a boy named Link, and his friends at school were bullying him and laughing at him because his name was the same as a game character. Half a year later he was found in the kitchen with a knife. He had slit his throat. If you don't put this on 3 videos in 10 minutes, he will stab you with the knife in your neck while you're asleep
@MasterOrHan1 , ya, im sure you were playing video games when u were 1 or 2. you couldnt even keep your pampers clean yet, nevermind play video games. get a grip man.
@RetroArcadia Damn, you responded to a year old comment to say that? My first memories were with an Odyssey 2, it didn't look like shit back then the way it does now. Is there any reason I couldn't play a game at that age? STFU & GTFO ------>, you don't know what you are talking about.
@MasterOrHan1 ,haha, yeah, there is a very good reason you couldnt play a game, because you were 1 YEAR OLD. thanks for responding to my comment and not making me wait a year, thats big of you.
@MasterOrHan1 True, my parents actually have a picture of me in 1982 (I was 18 months old) playing Space Invaders, but that's the magic of retro games; even a small child can wrap their head around the concept, but even now that I'm almost 30, there's still a lot of challenge in getting higher scores. I never really played for scores until recently, and it's like finding a whole new reason to play retro games... I keep my own high scores in a spreadsheet so I have something to aim for.
@rchrdcrg Those games were simple to play. A really small kid can play them, not necessarily be good at them. I like saving my high scores in MAME too, to see if I can beat them later.
I stand completely neutral when it comes to gaming (except for sports games, they're just crap). I really do enjoy retro gaming and the games that feel like they were made on a budget of 20 cans of beer and a chocolate bar but I also get fascinated with the graphical masterpeices such as Crysis. I really don't like the new consoles though, they break all the time, arn't revolutionary in ANY way atall, and I just don't find them fun... PC and retro gaming owns :)
So you are not a retro gamer? WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WATCHING THIS REVIEW THEN?!? I'm born in -95 but i dont care about the fucking graphics. I love old games much more than newer ones. I own a 360 but i still prefer older ones like the console in the review or the SNES from the 90s.
Good for you.. Im so annoyed that people think we play games thinking of the graphics just 'cause we are young! There are actually a lot of young retro-gamers here in finland.. Too bad the games cost like fuck here!
@Vkmies Im born in 90 and I love the SNES, but seriously, there is no way I could love the magnavox oddissey 1!! maybe this one but not the first one.
@Vkmies some people who arent retro gamers might still be interested in seeing what a retro game tends to bve like and so they watch the video.....then more or less might end up hating it
@Vkmies SAME. Born 1994. Real Retro Classic games can't hold my attention for long, and I'd rather play something more modern, but I'd rather play Soldat with bad graphics then Crash Commando for PS3 any day. And I like watching these reviews :)
copy and paste this in 3 vids, you are so ugly that when you where walk down the road the man said 'shit is it halloween all ready'haaaaa!im jockin .mery xmas
AWESOME. Had odyssey2 syst when i was like 4yrs old. I can't believe you still have the manual, system, cart in SUPERB condition. That stuff was super expensive when NEW. These kids today don't know how lucky they are to have PS3s and cell phones.
It is funny the amount of quality that went into the cartridge and the user manual. Now they just stamp out a CD or DVD and put a crappy dry user guide in there. Although now with the newer titles the manuals look really nice. Remember the NES manuals there were just thrown together....
No way, take a look at the Legend of Zelda or Super Mario bros 3 for NES manuals or a ton of SNES manuals and you'll see they had great full colour pages with tons of art and often even mini comics
yeah you are right they were the exception. I never owned those games new. They were way to expensive at the time 50 bucks WTF so i got them used 5 years after release, never came with manual. The ones i got were really cheap games and not really good.
Since you seem to know so much about old games. I thought i would run this question by ya. A few summers ago i played a game that looked like an old atari game on Yahoo games. If you're looking for entertaining instruction manuals, look for "Uniracers" for the SNES. In my opinion, the BEST game manual EVER.
