this is what the world needs, cheap engineering that look and can compete with german machines and at the same time, very affordable.I mean what more can you ask for?
DON'T buy a Sonata please buy a Chrysler 200, a Ford Fusion (Hybrid), a Chevrolet Malibu or Buick Regal (igeneered in Germany)!
These brands need you! Real Americans have to drive real american cars! And they are better than any Hyundai ' cause they're built by US-Manufacturers.
@blueberryboy11 those stats are when people liked toyotas and they were reliable. Thats why in 2010 Toyota's total equity was -$218.32 billion dollars and getting worse in 2011. All Japanese car companies are grossing much less financially because Volkswagen Group, GM, and HMG are dominating because of their size and subsidiaries. And the Prius stands NO chance against the Volt. Also its common knowledge that if you are going to buy a Japanese car, the best is easily Honda.
Hyundais are cool for about an hour you get in and you think wow this car has some nice features.....then after awhile you just realize how cheap everything feels. I got a 2012 Sonata as a rental that was my impression of it
I just have to say that for people wondering if hyundai's are reliable let me tell you this my mom has hyundai accent bought it for $600 has had it for 11 yrs only thing that has ever gone wrong is she needed a clutch cable still runs like new. Ticks a little in the middle of summer before the fan goes on. Not bad.
people who say "Korean cars suck" or "its still a crappy Hyundai" are really fucking ignorant. Watch Hyundai dominate the car market in the coming decade.
I read some where do not buy hyundai cars before year 2005. post 2005 year built hyundais are reliable but pre is not. Is hyundai reliable as japanese cars?
I would like to buy one but heard horror stories of its unreliability scares me. The Japanese have a culture of meticulousness, but Koreans are more careless.
Better just buy German since you get both snob appeal and reliability. Japanese only has the latter. Korean cars have neither.
@jamfoxs everyone is overt that hole its still a hyundai thing. its old and people need to get over that they are as good as toyota and in a lot of aspects they are better
I rented a base Sonata, and it was a great drive. Great fuel economy and nice steering. But I wasn't impressed that much with interior materials (not that it's bad, but I expected better) and the front passenger seat had not height adjustment and sat too low. But I would definitely buy one of these - but I need to check out the Optima first...
My family owns this! We LOVE it.....the only problem is the engine belt noise and somewhat difficult visibility from the back while driving....other than that it's perfect!
Actually asian companies have been copying european companies since the dawn of cars. Are you gonna tell me the Sonata didn't copy the Mercedes CLS when the CLS came out 5 years before it?? Hyundai totally ripped of Mercedes on this one and with the genesis and with the equus, and it disgusts me even more that they ripped them off without any shame, but frankly I shouldn't be surprised anymore....
just bought the Sonata on Friday night and Im turning heads at every stop. I spent 3 weeks reviewing my options. My father owned a toyota dealership for 25 years, I am an assistant service manager at a toyota dealer and my brother builds the Camry. Watch out for this car!! You will start seeing it everywhere on the road. I just cant stop staring at it in the driveway and I keep making excuse to drive it! Hopefully I wont have to use the 10year100000mile warranty. Ill update you guys!
I have lost all respect for Asian companies. They are the biggest copiers ever!! First lexus copies mercedes, now this hyundai looks like a mercedes cls?? WTF!!! how unoriginal these asian companies are!!
@skizzle94 Asian cars aren't copies in the slightest possible way. They are making fantastic quality cars at affordable list prices. If someone is copying another manufacturer by making a similar type of product, then you should start criticizing Mercedes for copying older luxury companies like Rolls Royce and Cadillac. Anyway, german luxury companies have plummeted in quality surveys, while Asian companies have moved to the top. The Hyundai Equus is a better buy than a Mercedes S class.
We test drove the 2011 GLS last weekend. Two words.... ROAD NOISE !!! ...and too much of it.
We loved the car, but as soon as we got on less than perfectly-smooth asphalt, we could not hold a conversation! It was worse than our Honda Civic which has low-profile, Bridgestone's (terrible tires).
Definitely a deal-breaker for us. And it's not just me...look at the reviews on Edmunds. The biggest complaint is the excessive road noise. Such a shame that Hyundai has not addressed this!
so many racists saying b/s they don't even know. the fact is that Hyundai is better than Jap equiv like camry or accord...camry and accord were great yrs back but they are dated and no longer offer the best look nor best performance...regardless of price.
Hyundai Sonata is pretty much top of the segment - verbatim and just right!
It is likely to buy it if it sells it below half the price. The smart shopper will beat down and buy the thing. However, I have not trusted the commodity made in South Korea at all.
Is the manufacturer that says HYUNDAI developing the technology for oneself?Isn't it a licensing of technology from Mitsubishi?
@biyorkman you are correct they did borrow technology from Mitsubishi, toyota, chrysler and a few others. But i have a 2004 Elantra with 143K and have had no problems (knock on wood) i would certainly buy another hyundai they make a great car at a great price and with one hell of a warranty i got the 10/100K bumper to bumper when i bought it i used it maybe four time for little things and the dealer was great. My brother bought a cobalt and had nothing but trouble . the wipers went whaky @ 20K
@tubetubetube71 "the only reason hyundai's are selling is because they cheap to buy. if they priced close to toyota or honda nobody wants to buy korean." WHO CARES HYUNDAI SELLING CLOSE AND EVEN MORE THAN THE JAPANESE. Sad? :)
@maxxedout2 Bought mine 3 days ago...GLS...great car and love it. Pacific Blue Pearl which is a new color for 2011 with dark blue interior. Gorgeous and rides very smooth and has some power to it. Safest car for 2011 next to the BMW 5 series.
I saw a Hyundai Sonata today and the dealership left the door unlocked so I got in. Very nice...at first glance. But I noticed that the materials were shockingly cheap and flimsy. I thought no wonder this "luxurious" car is so inexpensive.
I went with the SE model for the tripped leather seats. 8 days into owning it. I dlhabe no regretted it for 1 bit. Being a former BMW and Lexus owner. I have never had so many people ask me about my car or get compliments. Runs great. Love this scar.
This is a very cheaply built car. All material are bad quality. The trunk still has several sport let unpainted. It hesitate to take off and slow response to acceleration. The street ride is choppy and noisy that makes you wonder if it has any shocks installed at all.
The steeling system is not "variable speed power assisted" and too sensitive in highway driving, which is very dangerous.
@ppno123 another post copied and pasted onto a sonata vid. you stupid jap, get a life. "the trunk still has several sport let unpainted.'' DO YOU SPEAK ENGRISHEEE? jealous japanese fuckface.
All in all it is very well equipped, looks rather nice (in my opinion) and is very comfortable to drive. Of course it could use a little more power, but at this price range it's nothing to complain about. I would give it a 7/10
Just drove one for 5 days, I am very impressed with it. AUTO CENTRAL – JULY 22, 2010: Leading German motoring magazine AutoBild, has awarded Hyundai Motor Company the honor of first-place in its annual AutoBild Quality Report for 2010.
Hyundai edged out local manufacturers BMW and Audi and eclipsed its rival Toyota to take the prestigious award based on a comprehensive analysis of reliability, long-term quality and customer satisfaction.
people actually find fault inhyundai's designing. so they tend to copy some high end models for the DESIGNS and DESIGN ONLY. Why is that a problem? It's a very good car. It is better than the accord and camry in pricing and fuel economy. It OWNS the accord and camry in pricing, really. It gives you about 95% of camry's features at about 75% of the price. the safety got 5 stars on all sids crash ratings from ajac car association
I just test drove one of these. What a great car for $21,000 base price. Has alot of standard options...cruise,bluetooth,all power. ipod jack and alot more. Me and my wife were both impressed with this car. Huge trunk space and a roomy back seat with lots of leg room. great MPG for a car with almost 200hp. My dealer said one of there customers just drove theres to florida from ohio and averaged 40MPG on the expressway.
Hi everyone wanna who is real:GLOBALK 100, SpiagiaVita- she/he is Rubbish lier from Hyundai she/he write shit about Japan and its products: watch?v=bJGs9pwvGSY
While I do like this car, I currently own a 2006 Mercedes CLS 500, and I can't help but feel that Hyundai copies the designs of luxury brands i.e. Genesis Sedan looks like a S-class Mercedes....but for the price of hyundai's vehicles you can't go wrong....I recently purchased a 2010 Genesis Coupe 2.0T for my sons 16th birthday, and he prefers driving that instead of my CLS!
@PROfaniityX23 They do copy, and it's been going on for years. It goes both ways for all car manufactures from all over the world, but I do feel that some do it more than others. A lot more. lol
Well, it´s definetely one of the most beautiful Hyundai designs ever! I can see an influence or a similarity with the european Ford Mondeo based in new Ford´s Kinetik Design style. Good for Hyundai then!
There's something annoying about this guys voice. It's like he's speaking with a mouthful of mashed potatos. I love the part about half way through the clip when it takes nearly every ounce of energy he can muster just to swallow down his own saliva. I know. I know. I have issues. The car is pretty cool though.
@dslcobra google "cracked connecting rods" to see what i mean. too long to explain. it makes a more precise fit between the big end of the connecting rod, and the crankshaft.
Since Hyundai had greatly impressed me with its new Genesis and even the Elantra Touring, I was intrigued when I saw the new Sonata at the dealer. My father and I found a Limited model with Nav and back-up camera, and I have to admit, for its price point it is spectacular. We took it out for a drive and found it drives well, is quiet and comfy. Unsure about the quality as of yet, but if it's good I would consider buying this car.
@iMissLayups ok, I should have said cts-v . . . I'd drive that! I like hyundai though, more because they're not toyota. . . I'd rather have this than a frickin' camry.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Both Hyundai and Ford Motor Company are going to kill Toyota and Honda. They both with eventually be the top two car makers, I have that feeling :). The Sonata looks great!
I just realized that today. I finally took a look and counted that Ford owned 7 other companies, whereas Hyundai has certainly increased its look, fit and finish (and perhaps quality, as well) tenfold. They are now making cars that I am salivating over. GM and Chrysler are screwed, and no wonder; their cars were AWFUL. They were styled like absolute bland crap, they had no quality to speak of, and they were overall rubbish for the past 30 years, or more. Can't believe how bad they were.
@globalk100 Respect my friend... you are the troll but as a nice troll you don't even admit it. Don't worry, I know what kind of person you are... ridiculous and ignorant guy. You are all the time critizing everything except the most criticism car maker, Hyundai. Take care with them, really.
@globalk100 Anyway, sorry, this video is not talking about any other car maker (except Hyundai), I don't think I should write here, not fair. Sorry in this case.
OK, I like this car, but this is a terrible video. Bad sound quality, shaky camera, and an host making mistakes (what? you don't have retakes and editing? ).
Hi yelzhan123: Its not the aluminum... lots of cars have aluminum. The Sonata rattles/clicks due to its direct injection. All DI engines tick like this, just like Volkswagens do. A small price to pay, for more power and efficiency.
my GOD... I think sooner or later one japanese car maker will go out of business. Asian car makers are just super competitive when it comes to producing value products.
But I really like a lot of GM car looks!

Hyundai steals data<---famous in youtube.
biyorkman 1 year ago
people actually find fault inhyundai's designing. so they tend to copy some high end models for the DESIGNS and DESIGN ONLY.

PROfaniityX23 1 year ago
@PROfaniityX23 your son is licky to have a father like you. 16 year old should be driving a civic. he will crash the genesis trust me
acuratlnigga 1 year ago
@PROfaniityX23 They do copy, and it's been going on for years. It goes both ways for all car manufactures from all over the world, but I do feel that some do it more than others. A lot more. lol

I like the rear styling but the front is really awkward looking.

Well, it´s definetely one of the most beautiful Hyundai designs ever! I can see an influence or a similarity with the european Ford Mondeo based in new Ford´s Kinetik Design style. Good for Hyundai then!

I'm trading my Acura TSX for one of these.
Just wished it came with leather + sports suspension for under 30K but eh...for what it is, it's still cheap compared to the rest of the competition.

Both Hyundai and Ford Motor Company are going to kill Toyota and Honda. They both with eventually be the top two car makers, I have that feeling :). The Sonata looks great!
giannial1985 1 year ago
I just realized that today. I finally took a look and counted that Ford owned 7 other companies, whereas Hyundai has certainly increased its look, fit and finish (and perhaps quality, as well) tenfold. They are now making cars that I am salivating over. GM and Chrysler are screwed, and no wonder; their cars were AWFUL. They were styled like absolute bland crap, they had no quality to speak of, and they were overall rubbish for the past 30 years, or more. Can't believe how bad they were.

Hi yelzhan123: Its not the aluminum... lots of cars have aluminum. The Sonata rattles/clicks due to its direct injection. All DI engines tick like this, just like Volkswagens do. A small price to pay, for more power and efficiency.
fhujsa 1 year ago
my GOD... I think sooner or later one japanese car maker will go out of business. Asian car makers are just super competitive when it comes to producing value products.
Konig1985 1 year ago
