Your ounce of "bible education" needs better scholarship concerning literalism and your personal attitude.(your facial expressions deceive your words) May God help you in your ignorance as a youth.
You can take the Bible literally, and we should, it's only when the literal understanding of that passage makes no sense what so ever, then and only then do we look for alternative meanings.
I understand that the bible uses different genres of literature and each genre needs to be understood differently, but the literal understanding should be used first.
@TheOklahomaSoonerfanthat hardly makes any sense at all. When you hear a song on the radio or a read a poem from a english book, you arent looking for a literal translation. Now you might be looking for literal application, which is something completely different. Is that what you meant? Because if something is meant to be a metaphor, like Jesus when he uses his Jewish hyperboles (if your right hand causes you to sin cut it off), then we should translate it as such... a metaphor.
@TheOklahomaSoonerfan So if you wish to take Jesus literal there, be my guest, but my guess is that you dont. Ergo, if you dont look at jesus's word's literally, all of the time, then the same applies for the rest of scripture.
All baptist are one way or another similar to anderson. They're all hypocrits and bigots bound for hell to keep the sinners company. Man what torchure sinners in eternity having to listen to baptists. lmfao
I'm sure that as soon as you said "don't take the Bible literally" you lost Mr. Anderson. Where the Bible calls for literal interpretation you interpret it literally; where it calls for other forms of hermeneutics you interpret it otherwise. BTW, we can all learn from you your sterling example of Christian courtesy, patience, and level-headed reasoning. Thanks for letting Christ speak through you.
Amen!! I totally agree w/your view on this man and what he teaches. I'm a pastors kid and have spent my entire life in church listening to many of the great preachers that have been hammered through you tube. I think you have a good grasp on what needs to be done.
@Kyouryuu5000 King James Onlyists don't study the greek or hebrew because they believe that the KJV is "the" inspired word of God. They believe that the translators of the KJV were inspired directly by God while they were doing so. A lot of them think that all the scrolls and texts found recently are unreliable and so the received text is the only reliable one. So their idea of inspiration of scripture is fatally flawed at the start. They don't care what the greek and hebrew says.
@worshippastor12 i dont let other peoples misconceptions of biblical interpretation affect my exegetical treatment of the text. I made this response more for people who would listen to him, and then listen to me, and then come to a logical conclusion. haha
@BaretFawbush well regardless of whay you did it, it was a thoughtful response and I can't believe that a couple of guys (you and me, specifically) that are around Anderson's age have a better understanding of scripture, it must be that wicked bible college.... :o)
@Kyouryuu5000 I actually use that website quite a good bit. As soon as LOGOS has the final Mac version out of their Bible software I'm gunna try to get it.
how did you become a preacher, pay 50$ and take a test..........................?????? this statement is for that anderson fellow, but for the young man who posted this, you are a bright star, keep on shining.
but i dont agree with him. you obviously didnt watch the entire video. Just because i dont come out and deliver a hard hitting, love-absent presentation about how backwards he is, doesnt mean that i agree with him. so... watch your mouth albtraumen.
ok - i see where your coming from and im sorry for sounding stupid and forward. I just think that you can be loving in how you say things (something that im trying to work on) and thats all i was trying to do in my response to him.
@sleepy4031 I dont use the KJB because it makes the translation process muc more difficult. When you read and study text, you already have to transpose those words and what they meant to the first century, based off the context. With that in mind, if you use the KJV, then you have to find out what the words bing used meant, 400 years ago, and then find out what those words meant in the first century. So id rather go with NASB, which will be more like your straight greek to english translation.
if u dont take the bible literally then why even read it!! this is absurd! watch venomfangx's video "happy 2010" and come back and say bible college is ok. HES LIVING IN A SESSPOOL! how are u even a pastor ?... pastors have to be married with children.
At bible colleges they have who knows who teaching who knows what about the bible!!!! if u dont believe genesis and creation they why believe John 3:16? this is asinine, ur getting a masters? thats unbiblical.
haha you obviously have some things to work out - and some logic to adhere to. I think its awesome that you have such passion for the word of God and i think your zeal is great. however, you said "if you dont take the bible literally, then why even read it!" my question then would be... how do you deal with verses like matthew 18:8-10? when jesus says "if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out! if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off." Surely you dont take those passages literally...
of course ur supposed to take those literally!!! if your eye is stopping u from believing then pluck it out.. my gosh who cares if u live for 50 yeaars w out an eye compared to an eternity in hell on fire... that is NOTHING
hahaha - so youve never lied? youve never lusted after a man? youve never stolen anything? or done anything with your hands that have caused you to sin?
lol i have better things to do than debate u all day but of course ive sinned but it doesnt change the fact ur supposed to take it literally. ...if ur pinky is causing u to sin then cut it off.. its just my pinky isnt causing me to sin so im not gonna cut it off.
It all depends. What do you consider "literal"? Did jesus walk from this place to that - did Jesus miraculously heal a person? These questions i would answer yes to. There are many different types of literature found throughout the Bible. The creation story, i do not take literally. Why? Because its Hebrew poertry. psalms? Hebrew poetry. Historical account? I take as literal. An expression of the heart that man writes down (such as David with the psalms) i dont take literal., meanigful, yes.
inspired by the holy spirit? yes. are parts of the bible that arent taken literal but metaphorical - are they then useful? Yes they are. By all means. In galations 5:12 Paul is speaking within the context of circumcision and he says to the agitators who require circumcision to be apart of Christ should "go emasculate themselves!" now was Pau l being metaphorical or literal? Of course he's being metaphorical. instances like this are found all over scripture.
u dont have to repent of ur sins to be saved, altho u realy shouldnt be promoting such filth if u are going to be a pastor ... this video makes me really sad.

That's not the 1611 KJV... I doubt ol' Stevey could read the 1611 version.

משנה (mishneh) = second quarter or district as denoted in 2nd Kings 22:14.
Kyouryuu5000 1 year ago
The word college in 2nd Kings 22:14 is translated from the Hebrew משנה (mishneh) signifying a second quarter or district.
You can use Strong's Concordance at blueletterbible(dot)org.
Why is it that some folks in the King James Only Camp do not study their Greek or Hebrew?
