  • been spending time listening to multiple versions of this song and this is my favourite version right now. One of Linda Ronstadt's live versions a close second

  • A very noble version of perhaps the best truck driving song ever, or is it still 'Mama Hated Deisels'

  • Yea Weed Whites and Wine my life i dont care who sings it just how it is never changes! god help me ! u understand . right we need more of this rebel music

  • Hi jono11, I meant strip back "the emotions".

It's about the monotony of trying to stay awake at the wheel.

Weeds, whites and wine (and Alice) giving a break to the shite life you're in.

Just feel this is very "up" . Thought Steve would champion the working man ethos of it with a bit more gravity........ But what TF!

A beautifully paced song. Either version!

  • I like Lowell's version better but this ain't bad.

  • and ive driven every kind of rig that was ever made 30 years behind the wheel

  • Clean. I love this version.

  • Prefer Lowell and The Feat.

They could strip back the emotions, sincerity and a fusion of musical roots.

Love Steve Earle, but find this busy and very much "a cover."

The song conveyed loneliness. Surviving day and night at the wheel.

Your head full of the woman you love.

  • @WackaJawacka Are you kidding? This arrangement is way stripped-down compared to the Feat version.

  • I like earle's version better than even the original by Little feat (Lowell)

  • ' I drivi'n the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed', I know how that is lmao........

    Hammer Down Truck Driver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ah, Dallas Alice!

  • one a my all time fav covers eva. the great steve earle doing one of the great little feat's best songs! now there's some southern boys who coulda shown those cock head rednecks like lyndrd skinyrd a thing or two. oh yeah, this is such a great album of covers. i love it when earle does nirvana's ''breed''.

  • this is off the cheezy fo shezy
