@oOLuckyBobOo I did indeed notice that the buildings are real. However, the majority of the "action" is animated (tank, helicopters, troopers, paratroopers and obviously the beasts). Also, the foreground (grass, road and pavements) are obviously not real. The buildings and maybe the sky are the only parts of the composite which are real. So would you also regard films which make use of matte paintings to be animated films?

@Yobirinsan The sky, grass, buildings, smoke are all part of the live plate. Only the sprites, road n lamp posts are composited on. Where peoples brains have trouble perceiving if this is real or not is because of the nature of the camera movement. Which is indeed fake. It's an illusions created but nevertheless that fact remains that it is indeed live footage with just sprites added on top. Therefore live action despite what your brains is telling u. The world looks flat but it is infact round.
