Functional Dyspepsia. It's basically where the nerves in your stomach are hyper sensitive to the point where you feel sick/nauseous or have intense pain relentlessly. Sometimes it will keep you from doing anything for days at a time. A lot of people think it's an ulcer at first and end up going through a lot of tests before actually being diagnosed correctly. I have it and believe me, if he did too, I know exactly how he felt.

@GrungeyMr What you don't seem to understand is that all weed is genetically modified somehow, through selective breeding and hybrids; it hasn't been "pure" in decades. Skunk is selected to have more THC. But then again, so are many other strains (or for various other characteristics, like denser buds and resilience). It's no different than the way the fruit in your local supermarket is selected (or modified, same thing) for sweetness and colour.

When I was 13 years old, I acquired a stomach condition after a trauma. Never got better. I am 20 now, still relatively drug free but my stomach pain is still there. I remember reading the book "Come As You Are" by Michael Azzerad and in my post-trauma, thinking "Holy shit, Kurt had the same thing happen to him when he was 7 - with the stomach pain too". I have a '67 Mustang in the corner of my room that my dad gave me... I have been playing since age 12, is all this a calling?

I'm really curious about the stomach thing. Gut diseases etc seem to be becoming more and more common and I think it's down to us enduring the wrong types of stress for too long at a time in our modern lives. Fight/flight is supposed to be a brief thing happening to our bodies but in modern living those responses are stimulated yet kept ongoing for long periods of time. I think the chemicals released by the body during those times stay active too long and begin to damage it...
Prolonged stress is incredibly bad for the body. I'm pretty sure there's not a single organ that doesn't function differently during the fight/flight response. The heart is particularly strained and the digestive system basically shuts down entirely.

Nirvana changed the way music was made, and changed what it was people had to listen to at the time of the Hair Bands dying out. People respected him for giving them something new to listen to. @GrungeyMr What you don't seem to understand is that all weed is genetically modified somehow, through selective breeding and hybrids; it hasn't been "pure" in decades. Skunk is selected to have more THC. But then again, so are many other strains (or for various other characteristics, like denser buds and resilience). It's no different than the way the fruit in your local supermarket is selected (or modified, same thing) for sweetness and colour.

When I was 13 years old, I acquired a stomach condition after a trauma. Never got better. I am 20 now, still relatively drug free but my stomach pain is still there. I remember reading the book "Come As You Are" by Michael Azzerad and in my post-trauma, thinking "Holy shit, Kurt had the same thing happen to him when he was 7 - with the stomach pain too". I'm really curious about the stomach thing. Gut diseases etc seem to be becoming more and more common and I think it's down to us enduring the wrong types of stress for too long at a time in our modern lives. Fight/flight is supposed to be a brief thing happening to our bodies but in modern living those responses are stimulated yet kept ongoing for long periods of time. I think the chemicals released by the body during those times stay active too long and begin to damage it...

Kurt was diagnosed that he had a pinched nerve in his stomach from scoliosis. He was prescribed a non opiate medication for it. That's public record. Most people who knew Kurt said he was not depressed at the time of his death.

He, like so many talented musicians are tortured souls looking for something they can't find and because they're unable to find it, they feel the only way out of it is to die. Life can really be hard, life can really be confusing. We all want clarity, we all want happiness and true understanding of what life is really all about. People like Kurt thought that by going on the other side he'd find the answer but we'll never know until we join him.
