I live near the gulf of Mexico too and I would never get in the water! I grew up on the beach but since the oil spill and how crazy the sharks are now, no way. My high school teacher (many moons ago, lol) got his arm bit off while swimming in the gulf. There have been so many attacks it's just crazy! Please be careful!

Dot, sharks do not eat people. I am studying to be a marine biologist and sharks are my favorite animals. Sharks bite humans because they are curious creatures and the only way to see what we are is to bite us. It does not help that we get on boards and things that help us look like their prey :)
