I don't see what's so great about this band. It sounds like standard melodic death metal to be. It's good in certain aspects but it's rather generic from there. And I used to be a fan from when this album was newly released. There are many more Australian bands I can think of better than these guys. Terribly sorry to anyone who likes the guys, but that's what I think.
@TheMetalPenguin I'll tell, but I'm not sure if you'll like it since it isn't (as) melodic. You have your blackened thrash metal bands like Destroyer 666, Nocturnal Graves and Destruktor, while on the other band there's the black metal scene with some great bands like Nazxul, Drowning the Light and Pestilential Shadows. Also in the black metal scene are the very emotional Austere and Woods of Desolation, both of which are known around the world in the metal scene. Hopefully you enjoy these bands

I happen to like this band, but a lot of melodic death metal sounds very generic and samey; I think there's often a lot more creativity in the black metal community. I'm glad I asked, because those suggestions are all awesome. I think of those mentioned I liked Nazxul best, then Drowning the Light.

@jsera7573 Metal of course has plenty of sub genres. DEATH metal doesn't. But yes, there SHOULD be that many sub genres. Sure it may make things hard to categorize, but really the easier it is to categorize a band the less likely it is that they're actually any good. And people don't seem to realize that most other genres like country, rap, electronic, jazz, all have just as many subgenres.

@DaltonMunnal yea there actually are wayyyy to many subgenres in metal.... heavy metal, light metal, progressive metal, technical death metal, death metal, melodic death metal, atmospheric death metal, symphonic death metal, black metal, doom metal, deathcore, metalcore, nu metal and the list can go on and on. but i like it that way. it adds variety :D

@jsera7573 Metal of course has plenty of sub genres. DEATH metal doesn't. But yes, there SHOULD be that many sub genres. Sure it may make things hard to categorize, but really the easier it is to categorize a band the less likely it is that they're actually any good. And people don't seem to realize that most other genres like country, rap, electronic, jazz, all have just as many subgenres.

I would call it "Musicians" There is so good musicians, i'm really sure they listen other directions of music, not only metal, if someone wil say i like one type of music or metal, then that person belongs to the ignorant side of life. I'm musician since 12 years, and i already play and different bands, but the most of them were metal bands. Because all genre have other genres that mix and match to make something new. It depends on the band. Some like Parkway Drive and Hatebreed have more hardcore. You are just another elitist over analyizing music. To me, Metalcore/Deathcore can be since as both Hardcore and Metal, depending on what bands you listen too.
