Prince's ability to see deeply into the human condition...is STAGGERING. He's not just the greatest musician of our time, greatest live performer, but the greatest poet too. I mean "Life It Ain't Real Funky - Less Its Got That Pop" pretty much sums up life and existence to the exclusion of ever needing to be summed up again or commented on for that matter by anyone else. Prince probably wrote this song in five minutes.
@tdsafff Prince originally wrote this song as a jazz and blues piece back in 1982, however the psychedelic influence didn't come until he started reading about the Beatles and the 60's in 1983-84. The "Around the World in a Day" album is a tribute to that era. You can see the major influence in "Raspberry Beret" and the video. However, I'm still disappointed to this day that he didn't make a video for "Pop Life".

Prince's ability to see deeply into the human condition...is STAGGERING. He's not just the greatest musician of our time, greatest live performer, but the greatest poet too. I mean "Life It Ain't Real Funky - Less Its Got That Pop" pretty much sums up life and existence to the exclusion of ever needing to be summed up again or commented on for that matter by anyone else. Prince probably wrote this song in five minutes.

@tdsafff Prince originally wrote this song as a jazz and blues piece back in 1982, however the psychedelic influence didn't come until he started reading about the Beatles and the 60's in 1983-84. The "Around the World in a Day" album is a tribute to that era. You can see the major influence in "Raspberry Beret" and the video. However, I'm still disappointed to this day that he didn't make a video for "Pop Life".
