When shooting video with the DSLR's, what is physically going on inside the camera? Is the sensor simply collecting the images and putting it on the flash card with the shutter and 2 curtains always open or are the 2 curtains and/or shutter opening and closing at various rates of speed set by you shutter speed settting?
I would think if the 2 curtains/shutter are opening and closing all the time it would shorten their life very quickly.
@mrhenderson Ken Rockwell has an interesting "plain english" D5000 guide on his site. Check out his site and search for the d5000 user guide. I don't condone anything he says though
D5000 is an awesome little camera. Happy Shooting!
Back again for another obnoxious?

None of the above. Shutter curtains stay open, shutter mirror stays raised, and the sensor is exposed the whole time while video recording.

Can I use Nikon SC-29 with Nissin lamp? And can I use Nissin SC-01 cord with SB lamps?
rafael145pl 1 year ago
Yes, the Nissin SC-01 is a universal off-camera cord that is compatible with any flash and vice versa.

Thanks again for another funny yet true statements.I read my camera's user manual before I bought it.Still I go back when I forget something

I agree... most people are lazy and won't make the effort to a least start somewhere. The more often you read manuals the easyer it gets.
But there's one thing that Nikon could work on that would help idiots like me.
A web user manual that you can filter out reference to equipement that does not apply to one's situation.
It would save the average idiot from getting lost in compatibility issues.
