  • Be kind to animals for they are our soul mates in this life. ALL animals have feelings of pain and suffering, love and devotion and intelligence. Try to understand them instead of killing and eating them.

  • beautiful ...

  • Does anyone know where to obtain the full movie in DVD?

  • @raymonda100 Need to go to Hong Kong to get it ...

  • If people who say the like dogs can't cry at this, Eight Below, Marley & Me, or Old Yeller then you are not really a dog lover.

  • @Epica124 include hachiko too and greyfriars bobby :)

  • @mayfairdoodles Sorry I don't know those. :(

  • @Epica124 I can't cry for the American's Eight Below. It kinda got too "disney-fied" that it became hard to take it seriously.

  • I lost my siberian husky last week. We have to put him to sleep because of advacnce stage liver cancer. I was really crying because the decision of putting him to sleep was the hardest decision i made.when i visited him to sign his euthanasia papers i called his name and he was still wagging his tail despite being weak. it would be selfish of me to make him suffer because of the pain. I was holding him the whole time until he fell into deep sleep.still make me cry whenever i remember it

  • @mayfairdoodles san,

    You've made the right decision.

Our Shetland Sheeper, Jon, passed away after an excruciating suffering (gasping for air) from genetic heart failure at the age of 11, in 1998. Jon had passed away sometime after midnight. Even to this day, I regret that we did not put him to sleep rather than make him suffer.

I believe your puppy lived a happy life and is thankful that he was put to sleep rather than suffer.

  • @JPN850R.

Thanks. I still miss him everyday. Thank you for you reply to my comment. It eases and gives me comfort that I did the right thing. I truly believed that he lived a happy life under our wings because all my family members loved him so much.

  • @mayfairdoodles you do what you have to do,thats the right decision.R.I.P

  • This is one of the best movies I've ever seen, the music is so amazing and the history is a real triumph of life

  • Awesome movie, awesome soundtrack.

  • thank you for posting this!

  • The most beautiful & touching scene I've ever watched & experienced

  • The fact is that this movie is based on a true story and that's what makes most people cry. If it was only a movie I would be like fuck this.

  • oh my god T___T

no way!! all the 7 dead !!!

oh my god this is so so so sad !!! T___T

i want to see this film

  • I can't find any copies of this film to buy anywhere :(

  • Kleenex !! Kleenex !! ....two boxes...one for me and one for the wife!!!

When 8 below came out I remembered seeing this film back in the early 80's on HBO and that 8 below was a knock-off and based on a true story. I must have been 5 or 6 years old when i saw it...and remembered tearing up like a little girl with a skinned knee along with my Mom and my older sister..this movie is just an inspiration. Dogs Define what Love Loyalty and Trust really mean...

    PS: FUCK MICHAEL VICK !!!!..

  • that story inspired me. Thats Dogs will be allways in my heart

  • I would bite the owner when i saw him...been like "WTF...man its cold"

Eight Below was done really well!

  • This movie looks so good. I cannot seem to find it anywhere though. It's not available on Netflix :(

  • @MissJuliaLove

U can find this movie on sale on E-bay. U can also Download it there r lots of torrents available. I downloaded it too

  • Wow, this was a huge hit in Japan when I was a kid. I remember my mom criticising it saying 'At least they could've left those dogs UNCHAINED. They could've let them surivive or die with more dignity.'

It's painful to think of those other dogs who didn't make it, and to think that they must have held no grudge against humans, probably been just utterly bewildered. Dogs, they shame us, don't they.

  • I currently have it burned on a DVD but it seems to skip :( I'm trying to rip the data back to my laptop because I lost my data when I had it on here. If I can get around to it, I will upload it as I have the English subtitles. As of now there is nowhere to buy this unless you search ebay, but more than likely you will get a bootlegged version of the movie.

  • all of the sadness in the world can be seen in the eyes of a dog....-George Carlin

I think that's why God Gave us Dogs. to demonstrate what true uncondtional love is. i remember watching this on HBO when i was about 6 years old and to this day I still have to pack a box of kleenex. someone should post the whole fi;m..eh?

  • Me too. I just finished watching. I never cried so much during a movie. It was sad and beautiful ad the same time.

  • I'll try to this weekend :)

  • I subscribed to you in hopes to view the Nankyoku Monogatari, but was unable to find it. Were you unable to upload after all? Do you know where it may be rented or purchased? Thanks

  • I have a copy on my computer with english Subs. Its a perfect copy of the film :)

  • Can you upload it to Youtube?=)

  • Taro(1955-1970)

It returns from Antarctica in 1960.

    It dies in Hokkaido.

    Jiro (1955-1960)

    It dies in Antarctica.

The cause of death is sick.

  • u just cant watch this without tears in ur eyes!!

    i have no words..

  • I'm actually crying my eyes out here, lol. This should have been ranked as one of the best movies of all TIME!

  • That is so sad for the other dogs...

  • Oh my god... I'm crying right now.

  • I love this movie :)

Thats badly that you aren't put all the music...so bieutifull !!!!!!

  • This Is The Saddest Movie Ive Ever Seen In My Life.. I Cant Believe That This Really Happened..

    =[

  • I've been telling people about this movie for years since I saw it in the mid 80's on The Movie Channel. Does anybody know where to get an English dub of this wonderful film? And I don't mean Eight Below. Ugh. That's not even close.

  • It took me years to find it. I and a cousin searched all over Japan for a copy with English subs. Found it in some dinky store in Tokyo. I'll see if I can find another copy next time I'm in Japan. Or I'll make a copy of mine.

  • The younger brother Jiro died in the fifth expedition in July 1960, a year after surviving Antarctica with his brother - talk about getting the shit end of the stake, they might be our best friends, but we certainly are not theirs, too bad they dont know.

  • 80's Synth, so much more inspiring.

    adessias

  • japanes paul walker..yummie

  • The saddest part of the movie,i think,is the fact that some of the dogs could still be out there alive..=(

  • yeah. u'r wright :(

  • @XxWolfandBowserFanxX I know u wrote your comment 2 years ago, but there is NO WAY they're still alive.

  • @XxWolfandBowserFanxX I don't believe there would be, all the other dogs that got loose were killed (kind of except Kuma from Fûren, who ran off to the glacier and was never heard of again) by something on the glacier, and all the dogs that didn't get loose either starved or freezed to death.

  • This is still my best movie ever. Our last family dog was named after one of survivors, Taro.

  • Beautiful. Thanks for posting this.

  • a beautiful ending to an extremely tragic story. an absolute gorgeous reunion. the reaction these two guys have at finding their dogs alive says it all. it's unfortunate about the rest of the team though :-(

i saw this movie when i was like 15 or 16. haven't seen it since. don't need too. it's contents have been permanently seared into my brain.

'eight below' has nothing on this original.

  • OMG this is soo sad im still crying! :'(

is this a true story 12 dogs to surviving for 1 year? plz tell me

  • i read somewheres that it was based on a japanese expedition to antartica back in 1957.

  • It is based on a true story, Taro and Jiro was the only of the 15 dogs to survive that winter. Do a google image search for "Taro and Jiro" and you'll find pictures of the memorial statue raised in their honor.

  • search "Nankyoku monogatari" in eBay

  • I remember I watched this movie when I was a kid and I never forgot it. Sad movie.

  • vucjak295 jiro didnt die in antartica, both dogs died in japan, 13 dogs died in antartica though :-( so sad

  • OMG! I cried when I watched this movie in Japan!

  • I like this ...

    non fiction movie

  • INfact, they did so well fending for themselves, that they were in better shape than the dogs the people brought with the on the 2 expidition to find them, and got right back into harness. Jiro died 2 yrs later form natural causes in antarctica, and Taro died in japan, at the Hokkaido university, where his body is on display.

  • These are sakhalin dogs. These 2, taro and jiro, were born in antarctica. There was 7 dogs that escape the chains, Ricky, Goro, Taro, Jiro, Shiro, Anko, Jack and Deri, but all were either lost or dead, ecxept tari and jiro.

  • Just watched this movie last night (the original Nankyoku Monogatari - not Eight below). Man i cried so much.

  • where can we see this movie the origibal nankyoku monogatari? i would really love to see it! please.:)

  • search "Nankyoku monogatari" in eBay

  • Does anyone know where you can buy Japanese version with English subtitles for UK ?

  • Sakhalin Husky

  • anybody heard the other version,it's even more sensual.

  • I LOVE TARO! :D

  • uhh...they were huskie dogs..not collies oO;..

  • Thats beautiful! glad I came across it. :)

  • That is an incredible true story, truly a miracle. Was it for a year those 2 dogs survived alone?

  • Jiro and Taro, the only 2 dogs surviving in Antarctica after have been left about 1 year, with other many others.

  • I had seen Antarctica few years ago. It's an amazing true story; with the Vangelis soundtrack, the film is even more awesome. Thanks for uploading(^^)

  • only 2 survive.? so sad

  • sublime!! T_T

  • This is a sadder ending, more dogs died. Of course Disney, had to make a not so adder ending.

  • It's a wonderful, dramatic and emotive scene from the movie. Greeting for the clip!

  • I'll never forget those trusty dogs.
