3:48 - that's Mille Miglia 1955 and accident of Karl Kling. Look at the car, it is Mercedes W196, so it must be 1955. After huge crash in Le Mans in 1955 Mercedes hadn't started in any race, with this model. Then, Karl didin't kill anyone, it wasn't fatal accident...
Good video- interesting perspective. We always know the drivers names, but rarely if ever do we know the spectators. I should know, I have been all 3- racer, worker and spectator.
Ray Plummer was a good friend of mine & is still deeply missed.1st time i have seen this vid it's not really good seeing Ray lose his life like this..he tried to run from the scene but never made it..took me a long time to get over Ray's death..he was a good friend family man with wife & kids..was a shock 2 see the vid even existed of the last moment of Ray's life.glad he didn't suffer & he died instantly....he was also a good drummer & he is still sadly missed today...RIP Ray..
It's important that these moments are in some way captured, for the sole reason that it serves as a chilling reminder of how motorsport can never be "too safe". But there's one accident that I never want to see again - Russell Phillips' NASCAR accident in 1995. Nobody should have to suffer the hideous end that he met.
Dont ya just love it. In Tom Pryce's accident..... that driver and a marshal #1 just looked over at marshal #2 when he was hit. Oh don't bother to go help that guy ...but keep working on that car so you can get back in the race which makes them true assholes.
@DjOver9000 That is because people have no common sense. 10 feet away....why not just go stand on the track. I feel bad for the driver and not the spectators.
1:01 Oh Man! Talk about an example of totally being in the wrong place at the wrong time! >.<
He takes off running to safety and instead runs straight in between the car and the back wheel then... he was wrapped around that wheel like a rag doll. Ughh!
Looks like his head was crushed, too. I just hope that most of these accidents resulted in instantaneous death, so these por souls didn't have to suffer too much. :`(
But I don't think it's a very good idea to go so fast so close to the ground. Do you think that there's an unofficial "most-spectators-nailed" competition? I could believe that.
@RacingAccidents2 monza 2000 a track worker died and in charlotte 2000 a wheel came off an indy car and killed i think 3 people which is why they teather the tires onto the car now
I hate to say it, but some of the regulations racing has are literally written in blood.......
