  • When this happened (only a few minutes ago) I let out a very loud cheer/laugh hybrid. At 1 AM. With a house full of sleeping family members. :))

  • By the right kind of Doctor, he means a Doctor that would coincide with his timeline. He could have met any of #1 - 8 while on Earth, but he was waiting for one who remembered him.

  • I'm curious, I'm new to torchwood, big fan of DW, what is the groups understanding of Jack's relationship with the Doctor? I know he gets involved with Ianto, but do they know about his unrequited love?

  • One of the most haunting phrases in torchwood was when the dead guy in the first episode said: Nothing..there's nothing! Oh my god there's --------- (dies).

    And this......poor Jack....

    Nothing......(heartfelt emptiness)...there was nothing.........

  • This scene always gets to me. The look on Jack's face when he realizes he's finally found, and I quote, "the right kind of doctor", always makes me smile.

  • @SuigetsuIsArt You do realize that what he meant by "the right kind of Doctor" was a gay/bi Doctor, one who would love him back.

  • @phoenix1985

I actually think he was more focused on finding out why the hell he can get stabbed/shot/blown up/etc without dying. Any of the Doctors would be able to answer that, but only The Doctor would have a clue.

I know Jack is a Doctor fan but I don't think that's his main concern.

  • @Bottery If any of the Doctors could tell him why, then why would he have to find "The right kind of Doctor?" He meant a gay/bi one, one who would love him back.

  • @phoenix1985

I think he meant "the right kind of doctor", lower-case. There are other kinds of doctors in the universe besides The Doctor. I don't think any other doctor would be able to explain such an abnormality in time as well as the Doctor who was actually present during it.

The Doctor he left wasn't really the lovey type anyways.

Jack exactly have a love deficiency problem anyways.

  • @Bottery Wow, you really have no idea what you are talking about do you. He obviously talking about THE Doctor. He didn't say it questioningly. He said it longingly. You could tell from watching Doctor Who that Jack had a huge thing for the Doctor, but he knew the Doctor didn't feel that way about him. Speaking as someone who has seen DW, TW, and SJA, trust me on this. He's talking about a gay/bi Doctor. Plus your explanation makes no sense why would a regular doctor be able to tempt him?

  • @phoenix1985

Why are you so convinced that Jack is looking for a sexual relationship from the Doctor? The Doc's perception of humanity doesn't change based on regenerations but on what people do. I don't think he just suddenly turns bi or gay from exploding (I'm pretty sure he's bi anyways, leaning on straight).

A doctor who tempts? I meant a doctor in the traditional sense of someone who fixes people. What kind of doctors do you visit?

Jack doesn't need help with the tempting bit either.

  • @Bottery Have you even watched the video? That's the question she asks him. "What would have tempted you?" Would just any random doctor have tempted him? No. He was talking about a gay/bi Doctor. One who would love him back. Some things about the Doctor never change. He is always white and always straight, no matter which incarnation he is in. He wants to find the Doctor, who he lovyes, who loves him back in the same way. If you had actually watched the series or the video you would know this.

  • @phoenix1985

Uh, none of the Doctors will love him back. They think time anomalies are icky, it's a Timelord thing. The fact that Jack is a fixed point in time puts him (and the TARDIS) off. I actually think the idea of Doctor/Jack is cool, but when they interacted in the following DW episodes it was kind of a shaky friendship.

  • @Bottery Thats the point. Jack knows it will never happen, but its what he really wants. He already loves the Doctor, he just wants one who will love him back. He knows it's impossible, but its the one thing that would tempt him.

  • @phoenix1985 The interesting thing is people will insert into anything, even if there's already something these.

Yes, Jack has/had/willhave a thing for the Doctor, but I don't think that was the point of this quote. The only point of this quote was the a) set up for his leaving with the Doctor, and b) to say that hearing the Doctor tell him to open the rift would convince him. It's not him saying that he's waiting for a gay/bi Doctor, even if he is.

    Cigar == Cigar.

  • @TheLivingSeven No that's what he meant. It's simple and easy to figure out. All you have to do is look. He has always loved the Doctor and a Doctro who loves him back would have been the only thing that could have convinced him to open the rift. Its what he's been waiting for ever since he met the Doctor.

  • @phoenix1985 Except in the very next episode, he says that he found his Doctor. So that's not quite true, now.

  • @TheLivingSeven Yes he found his Doctor. The actual Doctor. But remember he said he was looking for "a different kind of Doctor." He didnt say he was looking for his Doctor. So I was right.

  • what?! Is this the end of the series or just the season? |: Can some one tell me please...... like comment me cos I doubt i'll come back here..... please.

  • season.

  • yeah. i know now (:

  • Love this bit of torch Wood as well because you think that jack won't see the Doctor but he will!

  • i wish we had seen what Jack saw when He Opened the Rift Would he Have Seen Doctor 9 Or 10 Hm I Wonder

  • Could anyone help this brazilian guy here understand whats going on? There is the show Dr.Who and another one called Torchwood, is that right? Jack is a Doctor that I assume travells in time. But Dr. Who also does it and both labs (space ships ?) look alike. Are both doctors the same person but in diferent dimension or time? Hugs and thanks in advance for any info.

  • no the docter can change his body when he is wounded (nice little plot convenience in case some one quits) there the same Dr. but differant bodies. torchwood is a spinoff inspired by the torchwood in docter who; an organisation made to protect humanity from alien threats and collect alien technology. (oh god im a nerd..)

  • I was nearly crying when i found that that was the last in the series!!

I HOPED THEYED SHOW THE DOCTOR AT THE END THOUGH!!

  • Probably one of my favorite Torchwood moments. Thanks for posting this! ^.^ Fond memories.

  • OMG what is this from ? is it the end of serius one of torchwood, looks like it ! but what happens neext i wanna know !

  • well you will find out in doctor who series three!!!

  • dam these cliffhangers !!! anyhoo thankies for posting lol

btw does this mean jack LOVES the doctor ? like properly LOVES him ? and if so what will happen to Lanto/Jack (or Gwen/jack whichever u support )

  • That's another question to be answered. (what will it do to the other two pairings.) One thing we have to remember is that A) Doctor Who and romance generally try not to collide. (at least, classically. Some would debate a certain companion changed that.) But, also, the doctor Jack loves is not exactly the one who's there now. Same person, different personality and traits. we'll have to see how it goes.

  • torchwood isnt likely to be mentioned much in Dr. Who, spinoffs are like that on the other hand SLIM CHANCE OF DR/JACK!!...ahahah...i wish
