  • what movie is "compassion means to suffer with which is different than just feeling pity" from??

  • @lifeInAFallenWorld22 It is from "Trust". Probably his best work.

  • Yeah!

  • love this one. another please!

  • An effective pastiche of Hartley's characters...their dialogue plays like a fugue.

His films are the closest expression of anything I've experienced in real life.

  • [Ecstatically clapping] More!! More!! Please! Collections 3, 4 & 5!! I think an additional amount of hero worship i assign HH comes from the knowledge that he creates the scores to these amazing films (including this from Amateur, which may be my favorite score of his-- or Ned Rifle or whatever.)

  • This Goddess died for probably the 20 dollars in her purse. Tragic. If she was my wife with my new child, Id have a better security system in my apartment and engage it.

  • Love the use of the opening/closing credits theme song from Hal Hartley's Amateur (1994) in this HH tribute. :)

  • Diego Pillco entered his guilty plea February 14, 2008. The illegal immigrant from Ecuador said that, contrary to his original story, Shelly had not complained about noise, but rather had found him stealing money from her purse and had threatened to call the police. Pillco will receive 25 years in prison without parole when he is sentenced on March 6.

  • Thanks for that info, cause I only heard Diego's 1st story, now it makes more sense,

ADRIENNE SHELLY was truly special in those Hartley films, and I miss her.

  • Yes, it does.

  • Isn't it from Amateur?

  • Brilliantly cut. Are you a professional editor?

  • rest in peace sweet indie queen. you were amazing.

  • Well cut.

  • RIP. we <3 you adrienne

  • R.I.P. ADRIENNE SHELLY

  • that was great. think you could possibly put up some classic scenes of "Trust"? It seems to be the only Hartley film that's not on dvd and I believe the VHS has been discontinued. A travesty! I've been wishing to see it again for YEARS, and especially now with Adrienne Shelly's tragic death.

  • rip adrienne....god you were beautiful

i really hope they find the guy who did it
