Actually they do suck. I bought Geforce FX when they were the newest products from Nvidia. It was the weak pixel shader 2.0 performance that brought it down. When it was comapared to the Geforce 4 ti it didn't stood a chance and when it was compared from ATI's offering the 9000 series it was even worse. That's why when the 6 series came out Nvidia won back those disappointed with the FX.
@capatais777 your ego problem is very irrelevant to what I was mentioning before, I said I one time I owned this card. BTW for your information if you want to get very nasty: My current setup: I7 Xeon @ 4.3-4.4 ghz(h20) DDR3 kingston 2ghz 8-11-8 ati hd 5970 @ 1ghz(both cores/h20) ati hd 5870 @ 1.075ghz(h20) 5 wdd old raptors in raid 0 configuration 2 psu's. single rail, TWINS 64A+69A 3 radiators, thermolchill ta 4.120, ek coolstream 3.120, swifttech triple low profile rad.
@capatais777 if you want to see the current system, its on my playlist, take a look. Its not done yet, its done for now though. thinking about putting a 5850, so now its 5970+5870+5850.
Wont be till later though, also going for a 6th hdd in raid 0 as a project and doing some benchmarking.
@capatais777 I agree that the ati drivers can be easily corrupted, I used to had a gtx 216. still a goo card however at that price I would look somewhere else.
If I an nividia build, probably 4 580's 2 psus or something like that, its fine for now
a 4890 now can handle all games whiout problem, i have 9800gtx+ and i have 1920x1200, the only game i dont play at that resolutuin its crysis, just because i wanna very high :) i play gta iv at 1920x1200 at high whit 30 fps and more out of city places, cod 5 all max, resiudent evil 5 4x AA fear 2 max, fear max, cod 4 max and etc.... i will get a new card when i start having problmes to run games at lowest at 640x460 resulution xD like a 6200 now xD
I love it how on my system that has even more RAM than that but has the same/equal specs has a crapload of lag with this card. What's your settings? This card does well with EVERY game except for Halo. Meh.
M8 this graphics card is really bad i have it on my computer at the moment and i have halo the only time it works good without lagg is when your outside, if you go inside buildings its gonna lagg like hell trust me.
I love how he can be recording AND have Halo set at high settings on this card. Mine LAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGS in campaign! Now that's a lot of lag.
Btw, I ve got better graphs in this game with my fx 5200 on my pc, and it s 1.6ghz processor speed.Try something lke rivatuner, there s some ways of getting a playable graphic.
Hein, eu consegui graficos melhores com a minha Fx, e meu processador eh mais fraco que o seu. Vc devia usar um programa Rivatuner, ou mexer nas configurações próprias do Drive, pra ver se consegue um custo-benefício melhor.
it s the cheapest directx 9 based vga. I have one too, but if u wanna buy a video card choose a 7600 or 7900, for AGP. If your motherboard accepts PCI, dont think getting these ones, only GT series.
I want to buy this video card for my school computer (it's only $20 now). I just hope I can run games like GTA:VC, Halo, and Max Payne 2 at >30 FPS at 1024x768.
Really, you shouldnt. I have that card, and it's great because if you bought it back in the day and still use it you can still play games with it (like hl2) but nowadays you should spend your money on better cards.
its possibly the best card you can get though if you have a PCI slot. i mean sure you cant play games like condemned with good FPS but no PCI card could do that.
wtf... an geforce 2 ulta does a better job at games than this >.>

@conyo985 yup, I owned the 5950 ultra at one time, not a bad card, the 9800xt was faster in terms of directx wise.
the fx 5950 ultra had a 4X2 pixel pipeline, it wasnt a true 8 pixels per clock peak video card, unlike the 9800xt, which it did.
and yes the old geforce ti series still whoops this card, not by much but still faster then this piece of crap.
fx5200 is good for one thing, browsing the net, chatting, etc, for gaming forget it, unless your playing shitty ass resolution & settings.

My FX5200 is an AGP so I've got room for improvement, but yeah if it's PCI you're running this is probably the best.

Get a 6200 over this if you have pci... and if you have AGP a 7600 is best.
