Taking it apart is easy thanks to this video. Putting it back no so much:( I have a paperweight right now. Those ribbon cables are tricky, I even tried to secure it with tape.
@RepairsUniverse If I had to guess it's the 2 ribbon cables that slide in. It was hard enough to get them back in place and put the clip back down. My phone originally had black tape (electrical?) over them.
@sanjeeva7 I see. Jaw connectors can be a bit stubborn at times. Be sure the clip is open and slide the cable in fully. Once they are fully inserted, press the clip down and lock them in place. Tape is normally not required, as the pressure from the clip will hold them in place, however, if they still feel loose, a small bit of electrical tape can help lock them in while you finish the rest of the assembly.
@RepairsUniverse Yep those are the one. My phone is not booting so I am guessing those are loose. The jaw connections do not seem secure at all. Thank you. I will try again when I get home from work.
@sanjeeva7 Likely the issue. Try some tape and hopefully that will keep them in place until the housing is on - from there, the pressure of the housing should not allow them to slip. Good luck!
so i changed that part and i notice that there is a rip on the piece u take off on 5:17 ... whats the name of that part or piece and might that be why my buttons dont work
@809Negrito It is the keypad flex cable. This small flex cable is likely either not fully connected or damaged (normally a small rip). I would check this and replace if damaged. These flex cables for the Droid X can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@chakamelamachaka Sounds like damage to the LCD screen. Just be sure no damage to the glass touch screen digitizer has been made either. Replacement screens for the Droid X are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

Thank YOU!!!! i fixed my brothers droidx with this video. I replaced the LCD and the Digitizer. Video is very easy to follow along and re-assembly was very simple. Thank you. Good Vid
Can you guys do this for me if i send this in? also what if i have the parts for you? im just to nervous to do it. its the actual screen i need replaced cause i dropped my droidX and theres big black dots on the phone now from what looks like bad pixels?
@Coolguy2397 Currently we are not able to do repairs on the Droid X as we are a tech short. However if you follow the video closely and take your time you should have no issue. Or you can check around for a local repair shop. The screen you will need to replace is the LCD display screen.
Just repaired my LCD without bricking my Droid X. Thanks for the vid and the quick shipping. I do wish you had the video in reverse, though. I had to manually go backwards to put the phone back together.
@royalcoma Glad the video helped. The assembly is usually a quick process that is fairly self explanatory. We have had a lot of requests for assembly guides, and we may start soon. Thanks for your input.
I have a really bad crack on my droid x. It looks like the one in the video. Now do I need to purchase the digitizer or just the LCD replacement screen?
I'll be doing this very soon to replace the LCD, I hope that's my only problem or I'm out $40 and would still need to buy a new one :/ here's to hoping it all goes well! Thanks for the video
