  • The intro for this video is funny. What if cars were free, what if your car ran on magic, what if cars didn't exist and you could teleport to your destination, what if you could teleport without even wanting to teleport? Lol wtf.

  • "This is fuckibg stuped..i hope tgey dont do this shit!!!! I love my camero ss :p

  • If you can get 60% efficiency on Natural Gas (NG) at all times, an 1100 lb skateboard car with low drag could get 500 mpg city, 250 mpg highway.

    It could earn you over $8000/year by generating electricity to the grid with a 5.5 cent/kw-hr cost and 11cents/kw-hr grid income. (8000 hrs/y x 5.5 cents/kw-hr x 20 kw=$8,800/y)

If it could do solar parking...double that 500 mpg to 1000 mpg.

    $1.00 NG at 1000 mpg is 1/10th of 1 cent or $0.001 cent/mile. Road tax is about 2 cents/mile. Fuel=free

  • What happens when an 80,000 lb truck hits a 1100 skateboard car at 35 mph?

It is like hitting a wall at nearly 70 mph.

When cars become very light weight, the safety requirements must double current standards from 35 mph to 70 mph.

How can current airbag and seatbelt technology meet this new need?

The front of the car is critical to the safety of the occupants. But how?

Cool designs that are unsafe will go nowhere. The real world will require new automotive safety products.

  • This concept could change the entire business model of the auto industry and open this industry to many new companies with fresh visions of style, function, and safety (airbags vs something else).

A fuel cell is NOT the only way to get a "skateboard" layout. There are several other types of engine systems that could create true "skateboard" systems.

Crash criteria will need to be at least twice current 35 mph. New passive restraints and Airbags needed? Yes Massive opportunity...100 bil+

  • love the future car

  • @driaslow: yea i friggin love hotsteeze

  • So this skateboard is a Aston Martin, Buggatti Veyron, Audi R8, Merc, BMW, Ferrari, Lambo, Porshe, Rolls Royce, Ford, VW all in one

  • loool i can already see hundreds of torrents with "upgrades"

PS: let`s figure out the energy storage part shall we?

  • So what do you do when the body of the car flies off while you're driving? They also can't guarantee any sort of structural rigidity comparable to a standard car on the market today.

  • great video dude! wish i could have that one.... :)

  • finally landed this and logged it on hotsteeze . com.

  • DEAR SANTA.....

  • just make sure it is affordable, and doesn't need a driver license, so the kids can have wheel

  • 2011 now where is it???

  • @wsthoj coming out 2020-2030

  • @NOskateLAN lol.

  • Car manufacturers need to refrain from making modifications to the traditional cockpit. A joystick to steer? No. Just, no.

  • well if this cars comes out how will it drive in the snow with out the 4 wheel drive on it

  • Tesla model S uses a skateboard design.

  • It's pretty good and all just one problem, it's not 0 emissions, it's still lets out water vapor which is also a green house gas.

  • where's the fun of it ? the fun of driving something ...?

  • The concept of suck kind of car is not USA but germany..They have already built one such car and they would mass produce it after 2014..So iam planning to buy a car running on water! lol

  • This one is a outstanding video. On instantskate, com there are also great videos.

  • i saw this many years ago when my dad took me to the Autoshow. back then i knew nothing about cars, but this design stuck in my head, and through the years, i've kept wondering, where is this? why aren't these in production?

  • AudreyDMT..... How much of the video did you watch???? Maybe you should watch this video two- four more times so you can catch the part where they talk about the seating arrangements. I'm just saying.

  • THATS A SKATEBOARD?!?!?!?

  • Thats why we are poor, because peoples invest on stupid ideas. :((((((

  • If people understood the video they have a separate "wheel motor" for every wheel so the car is much more stable. Just saying this car is coming out in 2022 because not all of the technology is out yet.

  • are you standing on it like skateboard?

  • "the skateboard" is the platform that the body of a car goes on.

  • My favorite vehicle is the Go Fast jet pack. Can that be packet into it, too?

  • @Gonamez weren't you listening it doesn't have an engine hahaha

  • in the future people will be to overweight to fit in that tiny thing

  • A bump in the road and the engine is gone

  • @Gonamez

With that same logic, you could say that a bump in the road would destroy the drive train of today's cars.

Perhaps the engineers had already accounted for this. After all, its as simple as base height to wheel height so it can be easily fixed if this actually was the issue.

  • some cars just arent realistic enough like the flying car

  • i didn't saw it working.. so you telling me about an idea..

it's a nice idea but the thing is making it work

  • @barlevi1 ? Hydrogen car's already work all they are doing is taking the base of a hydrogen car and giving you the option to make it look how you want. It works but just a concept car. All the electronic controls already exist today. This car not only will work but should be mass produced already. The only thing holding them back is getting the intrest of the concept. Making it as crash safe as other cars is not that hard. They will not invest in making this car unless they see a market

  • blah

  • am i the only one that is noticing how low that thing is to the ground? i know some steep hills where i live and that things bottom is ganna have to be raised

  • How fast will it go? how much will it cost? how do you replace the cover in an out? what if the electronics die out on you? what about the suspension systems? good idea, but the design is lame....

  • it's far too expensive to produce this car and also hydrogen is expensive to produce

  • I love that shit

  • when will tre flips be available?

  • pffft! this is bullcrap...

  • This could be in production in as little as 7 years but what is needed is a substance to skin the body in that is stronger then steel but weighs at light as pvc so that 2 people can lift the body off.

Drive By Wire tech is already here. A long life battery is needed. No petero chemicals needed.

The GM AutoNOMY Skateboard Project! The future.

  • i wish we had stuff like this.... countries don't really want to make these for one reason, MONEY, they want you to buy the gas for the cars we use right now and if we all drive electric cars, there wouldn't be any money gains for oil companies, which is why they made hybrid, you are using half electric, half gas, but you are still buying gas.

  • What if...

    What if...

    What if...

  • its an awsome concept

    no doubt about tht

  • the designers ideas and designs are too advance for other people to understand

  • Thats why people need to be educated. The biggest mistake anyoen can make is to refuse eduction.

  • Its not profitable car its to advance and i am sure its expensive for repair etc?

  • Repair becomes less and less aparent the further we go, we should be creating technoledgies that designed for sustanability. We do not to these today as it keeps repair industries to keep money flowing for our downword spiraling economy. We need the Venus Project a Resource based economy, not a monetary system in order for this technoledgy to be released.

  • I want this thing with a dark red buick riviera '66 on top and stick shift, 'cause automatic's for queers

  • lol all i've ever driven is stick shift

  • I drove automatic once, and it's just boring

  • amen

  • pity that the designers believe that a body is what dictates a vehicle. What makes a truck or an off roader is the chassis and suspension travel. a sports car is a sports car due to a specific chassis. this is great if all you want to drive is a body.

  • The codename for this platform is "Autonomy"...it cost $3M to build, primarily being the cost of the fuel cells and the carbon chassis...

  • People buy steering wheels for their computers or consoles so they don't have to play racing games with a joystick or a mouse.

Whoever is trying to make us believe that the car of the future wil be driven using a joystick has had a lobotomy.

  • Where's the suspension

  • I would buy it.

  • This thing is pretty cool, I remember seeing it at a car show in Chicago a few years back.. Only problem with it is that hydrogen cars aren't very fast yet...

  • the car is called the Hy-Wire

  • It should be called the too damn good to be true . Dream on Customers !

  • my history teacher told this to us. it turns out i watched it when it was shown in tv.. this is great :3

  • that purple car is also a toy made by hotwheels lol its true if you dont believe me i'll upload a video of it.

  • ok. what about the grip tape..psyche

  • this sounds safe for a car.

  • looks like my job im car machanics will be gone...

  • technically you wouldn't, i think because

    1. these cars will always need to be repaired from usage, like the battery, brakes and other parts will need to be replaced, also damage to the wheel areas ie suspension.

    2. after a few years or even months people will want more power, and upgrades cant just do.

plus the idea of the mechanics will advance like it always has,ie unleaded, diesel and electrical.

  • Tho the the employment may decrease mechanics will always be around, as long as these cars to fix, right?

and on a final note I LOVE MY MUSCLE CARS! and ill be here for another 60 years plus:)

  • did you no that cars are designed to break down? they made a car that would never need anything replaced on it ever but no one wanted to buy any of the parts off the cars because there garages wouldnt make any money. they didnt even want a a fan belt that would never become slack or snap

  • OMG... i watched this video in science class... and think about what we can do with these skate boards... Our mother Earth is needing our help.. so why dont we start with producing theese ??

  • Is the Hi-Wire of General Motors, this team improve the pioneer purpose of a famous french Industrial Designer of the Raccoon, with a electric motor en each wheel, nowadays Japanese, German car firms are following this trend, thank you to upload this video, this is the wright way to approach electric vehicles.

  • typical, abunch of dudes who would kick you out of a skate spot and take your board, use it to make a new car. they all probobly still hate skateboarding

  • typical they make the car of the future enviroment friendly and they put a very large impossible amount price to it that only the rich can afford and can you imagine how much the price of water will be when the goverment takes it over. it will result in the same way as gas prices here in the UK and the U S. ordinary people will never be able to afford to buy this automobile. this is due to be released in 2015 here in the UK i dont know about the US though

  • now that the government owns our car manufacturers is there any chance we'll see this actually get past prototype phase?

  • why isnt this fucking out yet??? screw making money HELP THE FUCKING ENVIORNMENT

  • i heard it comes out in 2010

  • @UKNOWTHEIROUTTH Nah. It's that time now and it still didn't happen.

  • @supermax110 well there's only one of these cars made(so i heard). it's called Hy-wire

  • wow!

  • Is this a joke? :))

  • Haha kinda like selling bottled water aye?

  • fuck get a new name skateboards already taken bitches

  • NO! We can't make cars that emit water vapour! It's nonsense if you think about it. Water vapour is actually a more effective greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide! What are clouds made of? Water vapour, have lots of water vapour in the atmosphere and you'll get lots of clouds!

  • Steam and Water vapor... it's possible. They do not have right machine for car to run on hydrogen. Just wait maybe 10 or 20 years then you'll see.

  • Normal combustion engine cars can run on a hydrogen oxygen mix from water electrolysis.

Technology was available maybe 10 or 20 years ago.

  • Idiot.

  • are you afraid of clouds? oh bo hoo a little rainy day

  • @GamerAlex1337 would you rather have smog or clean water vapor in the air!

  • ok, this stuff should be on the markets already, not like immensly expensive but VERY affordable, im sick of those bastards trying to get rich instead of actually tying to help reduce global warming, jus douchebags

  • What if u crash?

  • @trasher84 dude you are stupid.

  • @Sphynx719 you can also fly..really!

  • @terw3 then happens the same like a normal car

  • @terw3 You can implement safety features above the chassis.

In fact, if profit driven companies prevent the implementation of highly advanced safety features such as networked/automated systems in every automobile that can stop car crashes and divert vehicles away from high-traffic areas.

  • @terw3 Another factor is planned-obsolescence, which is a whole 'nother story.

Learn about how the world can move past quarterly results to a real civilization:

    watchzeitgeist d.o.t. com

  • @terw3 its just a prototype idiot. the real one will look like a real car.

thats like looking at the framework of a 2010 car and asking how will you sit on all the metel, or how will you drive if theres no engine.

  • @terw3 Not something that you crash, it is something that if you drive too fast the casing just get blown off.

  • I think this car idea would be better if it were electric. Hydrogen is another fuel source that will need to be produced. and it takes just as much power to produce as gasoline. So going hydro will just be a waste. Fully electric will eliminate any pump stations dependance and TOTAL emissions of any kind from vehicles. what's amazing is that the public doesn't understand this. We need electric cars that we can plug in at home, not another version of the gas combustion type. this car would ROCK!!

  • Agreed. However, being no scientist myself, I have to wonder, assuming a situation where everybody drives electric cars, just how this electricity is being generated that powers all of these cars. I think that one has to consider ALL energy usage (and its potential byproducts) from beginning to end, not just within the confines of vehicles themselves. What are truly the most renewable, energy efficient resources, including the methods with which they're harnessed?

  • yeah, but then you still need electricity to charge the car. It takes all night to charge a car, but only minutes to refill with hydrogen. Also, a hydrogen car can travel much further than an electric.

  • Also ~ what country is this company based in ?

  • seems like a company like this has achieved more of a clever marketing/monopolization technique.

Just as long as other companies can prosper and offer more diverse concepts to the public than just one company that offers models that can only fit onto the unified foundantion, like the skateboards, then that would be fine.

But the punchline, "What if the next car you buy will be the only car you ever have to buy again?" is a bit creepy. Can someone say 'market monopolization' ?

  • when can we buy one?

  • I watched this in Tech ed and the video said 2030 but who really knows

  • what i don't get is why its going to take them till 2030 to do something like this do they not already have the prototype built? whats holding them back why are they not giving us more info about how its progressing.

  • Whats holding them down is some very powerful organization. If they make this car that means the economy would fall. Think if you developped an engina that runs on water and air. They cant make money if cars go on water and air they wont let that happen.

  • Its basically that the prototype cost 5 million to make... which isnt practical for people to buy... the big problem thats stopping production of alot of hydrogen or fuel cell based cars is the cost of the materials.

  • true but the cost is dropping i just wish they could drop the cost faster.

  • two things: cost and how long will it run for, because of its design can u refuel it or do u need to buy a new one every time the hydrogen runs out?

  • great idea, stupid name..... 1. names already taken by skateboards 2. can it do kickflips? 3. wouldn't it be illegal everywhere? there are "no skateboard" signs everywhere. duh.

  • haha very good points!

  • ROTFL WOW thats a bunch of Bull

  • 1:49 NEXT:MYTHBUSTERS COOL MAN!!!

  • its guna be sold when we all die like in a thousand years or somthing.

    ROFL.

  • its already been made so prabably like in 2020

  • leave it to the skateboard to be the best invention ever (all versions of the "skateboard")

  • Nice... I want that

  • can u kickflip with that thing

  • trully wonderful the things they can create with the power of thier minds imaginations huh?

  • Sweet, but needs a different name.

  • What I think:

    -Really sweet/creative car, but:

    -Nothing original about the name!!!

    -That name is already -taken-

-Advice to GM: Keep the car, loose the name

PS: Im not just saying this because of the fact that I happen to skate, I'm saying this because if GM can be creative enough to build such a 'car', the GM should be able to come up with a decent, not jet '-taken-' name.

    Anyway, sweet car.

  • In Québec?... they can walk, best invention ever, sadly the technology is in hands of the oil companies, who want to sell every drop of oil, before bringing out this car to the public, double win for them, i saw this chassis 5 years ago in a video, and now they introduce it as beeing new, well i will buy one if i can get my hands on a solar powered hydrogen station, otherwise they can shuv it up there ass, and i continue pedaling my way to work.

  • are the oil companies seriously in control of this thing? ever since I saw it idk years ago on beyond tomorrow whatever it was I wondered why it wasn't out on the market yet and if the oil companies really do control this I'm gonna lose my fuckin mind can you imagine the improvement of our economy if this were available...not to mention it would decrease global warming by ten-thousand percent(exaggeratin but still) it's fucking ridiculous

  • Well, which companies consume the most hydrogen in the world?

    Oil companies.

Their entire product lineup contains only two elements.

    Carbon and Hydrogen.

  • Yes, we all know that oil contains Hydro-Carbon chains, and when burned, those chains violently tear apart, the hydrogen being burned, and the Carbon fusing with Oxygen, as do the Hydrogen, but at a very small percentage.

But I'd rather stick with the Hydrogen Fuel Cell, because there are quadrillions of gallons of water in the air, and not that much oil on the planet(not the water always remains constant, oil does not). And hydrogen producing technology can be improved.

  • And what about winter conditions in Québec?

  • Smart ones, its not meant to be just alone as a "car" its a new chassis where you can interchange the bodies of the car.

  • My bullshitometer just broke...

  • @monerissucks ...How could this be fake? Were in 2010. In fact we were supposed to have flying cars by now lol.

  • its very dumb how some people are so concern about the "hydrogen bomb" when they are driving" gasoline" which has different properties but the dangers are the same as gasoline even less i would suggest to learn more about what you talk instated of making ignorant comments .

  • What if you need air conditioning?

  • this sux. name is already taken by a thing called skateboard.

waht if what if what if...... blablabla.

    this is so lame.

  • Enough of the sales crap when you gonna make it?

blah! blah! yeah im gonna build a flying dildo to fly you to the moon.

  • LMAO baronsbacon

  • What the * is this? A "Skateboard-Car"?

They even don't seem know what a Skatebard is...dumbs!

  • its a new chassis they just called it a skate board for the look even though it looks like a mud board/mountain board

  • @CamelDrifter I could say the same about you. you f in pos. get back on your scooter you pamby.

  • So I can change the performance characteristics of my car by changing the software that runs it? Even though it has the same chassis, drive train, engine, brakes, steering, wheels? It has all the same driving components, but somehow has different driving characteristics? That's the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever heard in my entire life. The only real thing you can change with this car is weight distribution by using a different body, that's it.

  • lol Cue all the carbuffs whining about the future and how we won't have gas that makes engines go faster than water-power and how they won't have any jobs. WHINE WHINE BITCH BITCH

    I fucking lol.

  • no suspension, even if, i would not want this on my corvette.

  • That'd be cool if it like did a stair set

  • skateboard is definitly the wrong name... but great invention xD

  • copy right!!!

  • ok stop calling it skateboard

  • You know, you don't necessarily have to ship hydrogen. If you think about it all a gas station has to do is pass an electric current through a reservoir of water and separate the hydrogen from the oxygen, and there you go. on-site made hydrogen. and while you're filling up on hydrogen you can empty the water from the car into the gas station to be re-made into hydrogen. As long as the electricity comes from renewable sources then you have a 100% clean system.

  • if it was that easy wouldnt we be doing it already

  • Not necesarilly... The cash gushing car companies have made humungus inversions on what we have know... tooling... technoligies... they could dissapear if you change the paradigm!... they know it... so they try to keep thing THEIR way!

  • Southamericanrocker is right, however... hydrogen sucks. The logistics are a nightmare, and any fuel leaks would destroy the ozone thousands of times as fast as volatile gasoline or exhaust gasses. H2 destroys the ozone faster than CFCs.

  • What about fuel cells... they seem more environment friendly... just a chemical reaction using water to produce electricity... looks nice... I dont think it has any H2 emissions.

  • he reason we cant do it already and the reason this car is awesome but not possible yet is safety - hydrogen is seriously unstable and if you were to crash it would have the effect of a "hydrogen bomb"

  • you mean a 100 megaton explosion, i think not

  • it's a smart idea

  • lynnopoly if they kno how to make it and already have the prototype in the video y dont they have it out, thats stupid and being a skateboarder this is kind of a dumb idea

  • lol

  • SWEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTT now we can all go 2mph YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT!!!

  • So why are these not out? What's holding it back?

  • if u look at the wheels theres no parts that are to hold the model shape

  • Also, in regards to universatility, It simply isn't universal. There will be different models with different power outputs, different drive configurations, different ranges, different braking powers, different wheel bases, different this, different that. And what about safety? How strong is that chassis anyway? It's a good idea, but all the high points they market look like marketing bullshit to me.
