oh man ... even rolfs guitar sounds way too boosted on the bass end. The bass itself eats up about 70% of everything you can hear. Then the bass drum has no bass in it at all , just highs, oh god , whoever did the sound to this show deserves to be hanged, drawn and quartered

@medouch this is the direct broadcast, dvd releases they eq stuff like that etc. Since this is write off the soundboard not sure if it could be typical or not at Wacken. We may never see that DVD though i worrry

@wumpscut1 yea I know its live broadcast and the dvd will be fixed (if we ever see it :), but that means that all the guys who were there (lucky bastards btw) got this awful sound. Just saying , you shouldnt let some hilly billy sound guy set you up if your band is RUNNING WILD and you re playing your LAST SHOW EVER in fuckin WACKEN!

@wumpscut1 Oh jeah, the 2002 DVD was total Computersound, triggered drums without life and protools on evereything else. That´s real Metal, that´s live! ;-) If you want live sound like a CD, don´t go to a real concert! My oppinion

@wumpscut1 Okay the DVD finally arrived and heres my impressions - the sound is FIXED. And concerning Rolf only had the stereo mix to work with , and he actually managed to get the instruments sound at the right level , that is something. The show itself is fantastic (although I miss some of my favorites) but what had me blazing was the background stuff.No subtitles, everything in german (WTF!!!) and tha background footage totals about 8 minutes (Jesus H. christ).The rest is interviews (German)

@rockdahaus I haven't heard the final live DVD, has it come out already? Anyway, triggered drums are much easier live, you can't expect to get great and hard sounds without them these days on big gigs. As for using them on a live album, well, it's live, and the sound is what comes from the board/mics, or whatever they happen to use to capture the live sound. Live releases usually are processed from some recording of the show. Raw mic won't do these days, but raw board doesn't either. It's hard!

@rockdahaus What I mean to say, it's really hard to fake the live sound these days, as people expect a live recording to sound like a studio album (like what Manowar does), while the circumstances are far from perfect. If triggered drums put you off, you're better off listening to studio albums without them, anyway. I don't like triggered drums either, but they seem unfortunately necessary these days, because setting up drums for a perfect live sound is really hard, especially on a big show.

And Porcupine Tree is much more to mix. Why can they do that? More love to the sound? More knowing? That´s why i don´t buy the last Albums of Running Wild, sounds like an Computeralbum to me. I want a real Sound! 15 Years ago, they make good sounding albums! Real Metal!

I wanted to go to that show, I would've gone to wacken just for them from france, but unfortunately, wacken was already sold out when they announced Running wild's last show ever.

Anyway, a big thank you to Rolf and the band for the true heavy metal he brought to us, if I get this luck, I'll definitely pay tribute to Rw in the future as a musician.
