This album is pure LA thrash metal served up '85 style, mostly in the Bay Area vein. It has it all: speed, aggression, rawness, catchiness, you name it, it's here. You will immediately recognize the Exodus influence (A Lesson in Violence anyone?), some Dark Angel-style riffs, plus of course Exumer's Possessed by Fire. Not only is there catchy riff after riff, but there are plenty of breaks throughout, and of course your standard speedy thrash metal solos.
@severetorturer i know, right? I love everything about this band! Especially those guitar solos. Dan Holder is possibly the next Kerry King or Glen Tipton
first time listening to merciless death and i must say i'm very impressed. the vocals could use more work but this is just me nitpicking. everything else is great. i'm assuming they named themselves after the dark angel song which is fucking cool.
@chiaromontestephen yeah. These guys are very good! They're a new thrash metal band, but they're not one of the new overrated trendy ones like Fueled by Fire or somethin'. If you think the vocals need improvement, check out their second album, WAY BETTER. The singer on the second album (same singer as here) sings like a mix of Chuck Schuldiner and Jeff Berreca. So yeah, he really improved!
@MetalAttack1986 you don't like fueled by fire? i think their spread the fire album is pretty good. i'll make sure to check out the 2nd merciless death album.
@chiaromontestephen I don't really dig Fueled by Fire either, I think they are way too generic and try a bit too hard to be metal. But I shouldn't be bitchin, at least they play thrash!
@chiaromontestephen oh. They actually didn't name the band after the Dark Angel's song. They first started calling themselves Merciless Onslaught, but then they replaced the word onslaught with death because that sounded better. Merciless Death>Merciless Onslaught. That kind of thing
