  • I never really knew rock before I heard RUSH !

  • Love this! Especially the drum solo, which I make people who think they are so good at the drums at come listen too to make them realize they're not all that good! And really, honestly? Who are the 96 idiots who disliked this?!?!?!

  • how does this have only 1.2 million views?

  • Anyone know what year this concert was?

  • epic drum solo...

  • A friend and i played a game, each person would name a drummer better than the first. i started with Peart his reply FU

  • fabulous

  • Rush should be booked as a Superbowl halftime show performance!! That would be fuckin awesome!!

  • @KCBIGPOPPA Dude, yes.

  • @KCBIGPOPPA They couldn't be booked as a halftime Superbowl performance... Too many players would skip the locker room talk and want to watch it. I mean, you got the football uniform.. That means you have a ticket anywhere on the field, right?

  • Quite punchy for a Gibson, Geddy...

  • Bringing Toronto with them everywhere they go , YYZED = FTW

  • LITERALLY KICKASS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bang them drums, Neil.

  • I definitely prefer the live over the studio version due to the fact that you can hear the bass so much better in this. :D

  • This song is amazing live :)

  • great !!!! the best song!!!

  • 95 people are deaf

  • Ok,

  • 95people are mentally disturbed!!!!

  • this makes my nipples hard!!!! Ain't anybody better than Neil Peart!!!!

  • sorry, but if you don't like this song, you have no taste WHAT so ever in music. :)

  • Rock and Roll Canadian Style!

  • 95 people couldn't take a deuce!

  • finally something to convence a priest humanity has lost its way: people dislike this video WHAT A MESS PEOPLE >:C

  • holy shit i would totally suck these guys's massive testes.

  • what bass is he using here? :)

  • @petersktet sonds like a fender, seeing the finger style and hearing the sound and knowing their style (classically influenced of course) it sounds like a fender jazz bass of some kind

  • @pivoteer556 but I think this is long time before his signature Fender, and it doesn't resemble a fender at all :S This even seem to have humbuckers :S

  • @petersktet In late 80's and early 90's Geddy used to use custom made Wal bass. All Wal models are extremely good, extremely popular through prog-rock musicians (i.e. Chris Squire, Justin Chancellor), and... extremely expensive :P (the cheapest one costing about 3500 pounds)

  • @Endrju333 excellent :D just the answer I needed thank you very much :)

  • Neil you god

  • I was drinking water and eating bread when I started watching this video... Now I'm drinking wine and eating toast

  • i shat my pants when the drum solo came

  • they made music same like they have a covered up in science

  • @t4roox wow man learn how to write, this makes aboslutley no sense

  • @ty2569 haha yeah i'm still learn how to write english with their f*ckin grammar

  • @t4roox i dont understand?

  • @thenovascotian1 they play music just like they made an invention in science, every single song they brought is accompany with a new touch and different skill ... that's what i mean it

  • @t4roox ahhh... thanks ;p

  • yep~ hes the BEST <3

  • anybody wanna tell me why i typed in "Rush" and exorcism videos popped up o.o

  • i would kill to go back in time to be in this music era. im 16 and i fucking hate this rap techno shit. this is what i call good music.

  • THIS IS MUSIC!

  • I would have sex with Neil Peart.

  • the bass fills are soo awesome

  • @beamith yeah, they often get over looked because most of the time the focus is on neil (the drummer) on this song but u are sooooooo right. infact, the entire bass line is nice, not just the fills

  • BREATHTAKING! So much energy!

  • "watch drum solo, after 30 seconds go on facebook, talk to friends, relize drum solo is still going! type comment, song ends :( repeat song :)"

  • I'm out of breath from just watching his drum solo....

  • Of the 1.2 million views... at least 4000 were watched in entirety - mine.

  • Lifeson, Lee, and Peart FOREVER!!!

  • @YoyoingPony totally

  • The only good band to come out of Canada...IMHO

  • @troy1968ps3 except justin bieber

  • @troy1968ps3 you obviously have garbage taste in music.

  • mezmerising

  • never gets old

  • thats what jesus looks like

  • greatest bassline ever?

  • he's so good .......he's probable texting the same time

  • Dr. Peart is a god!!!

  • To watch that man play a solo which, despite being a dedicated drummer myself, I could someday, far from now, even begin to replicate - pure inspiration that will never be lost!

  • is that a wuhan china?

  • i saw them live last year, and damn, they still rock like there in their 20's

  • man i bet even neil peart eating a salad would be considerd 'epic drummming' , el oh el

  • your drum instructor plays this vid to you....he starts at 3:20 and lets it play to the end and says "now drum just like that"........no longer a drummer........ just appreciate the sound :)

  • Not too often you come across a group of 3 guys like Rush were you think, "I hope they never stop, I don't think I could live without Rush. I hope I die before that happens so I don't have to see the day."

So here's a suggestion for those who listen to the "rap" Burn all the rap stuff you have and listen to Rush, then you actually know what real music sounds like coming form the best band of all time.

  • Dus any1 think that drum solo sounds like moby dick at parts hahhaa

  • What would Geddy sound like auto-tuned?

  • that bassist is a fucking badass, not even mentioning neil, his awesomeness is already noted

  • @percypiggle6 But... but, what about Alex? D:

  • the crowds enthusiasm during geddy's little bass solo licks is palpable. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • when he dies his nose is gonna sell for so much on ebay

  • Geddy Lee... this is probably the most badass rock bass performance ever. So glad these guys are Canadian.

  • I dare somebody to t-bag his drumset

  • you say Geddy playing like that you think "oh so easy play this bass line..."

  • neil peart is my master !!!

  • 5:56- 6:27 holy shitballs

  • Drum solo is mesmerizing......

  • Neil beats those drums like my neighbor beats his children, with finesse and great skill.

I know, I'll call child services after the video.

  • @urielcardenas I love you.

  • @xXMaJoRxSnIpEzXx It's hard not to.

  • @urielcardenas if your neighbor beats the children like neil beats the drums, the kids would be dead by the time you call child services

  • @urielcardenas I'm just dropping by to say...

    I love you.

  • @urielcardenas those children are dead.

  • that bassline is absolutely bitchin!

  • DEFINITIVAMENTE ALGO IMPRESIONANTE!!!

  • EARGASM!!! THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!

  • Lifeson looks like he's having the time of his life up there at points.

  • I do believe that is the drum solo of life .....

  • The funny thing about prog is that the bands never know when to end a song.

I know one person besides me who listens to prog and neither he or I know when to shut up.

Also, every time I try to listen to this song, I get so overly jealous to that guy's drumming skills that I have to go and play some death metal beats until feeling okay again.

  • Better than Bonham

  • AW LAWD JESUS THE DRUMS

  • the guitar solo for this sounds so difficult but i found out when trying to learn it that it's ALOT of sliding which makes a moderately difficult solo sound like 10 guitarists playing, meaning i can just about play along with one of the greatest instrumentals ever

  • as a drummer, what of i can say about the drum solo: if you try to play that, you would die exactly when it starts.

  • @LivingInTheLimeligh7 I played that solo on my desk at work. That glass exploded and there are papers everywhere.

  • @urielcardenas don't try to fool me, you didn't play that. if you did there would be a nuclear explosion

  • @LivingInTheLimeligh7 You wouldn't make it to the solo to begin with.

  • @MurphyMonster i could, hence i started drumming before i was in mid school. the solo tho kills the unworthy to attempt it

  • @MurphyMonster actually quite many ppl can make it to the solo, only few can do the solo

  • idk if you agree, but single handedly, the best song off all time

  • 2:11 Man i have a hard time to prevent my brain from exploding.

    Rock on!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY NEIL! :D

  • 3:23 alex: hey geddy what do we do now

geddy: shut up im tryin to watch

  • 3:23 alex: hey geddy what do we do now

geddy: shut up im tryin to watch

  • @TroyWBrown Hey troll! get back under your bridge if you don't know anything of music. So mind go back listening to justin bieber

  • I Don't Know If There Is 3 Gods

  • Comment removed

  • My fingers hurt now. I hate you Geddy, but at the same time, I love you. <3

  • i'm 15.

    Heard this on guitar hero.

    fuck my time -__-

  • -. - - - . - - - - . .

  • Creating sounds on a computer isn't talent- actually playing and writing music is. Fuck all that dubstep shit- Rush FTW

  • @jtessexpress making music on a computer is still writing dude.

  • You say Bruno Mars, I say Pink Floyd

You say Hannah Montana, I say Aerosmith

You say Owl City, I say Bon Jovi

You say Jonas Brothers, I say Queen

You say Taylor Swift, I say AC/DC

You say Justin Bieber, I say Fuck You

95% of teens these days listen to the same formulaic, crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy and paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die!

  • @dhglenn1 In regards to the Jonas Brothers, don't you mean "Queens"?

  • @dhglenn1 Fuck off

  • @dhglenn1 Dont be a faggot and tell me to thumb you. liked this comment before the year-5 style faggotry.

  • Alex just kinda looks like Bucky Larson

  • ok people... please, we need to come together.. if we can topple world regimes, kill osama bin laden with the first black president in U.S. history, AND discover new life forms.. even new planets.... then dammit!! we can create a real ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame!!!! and people, this time, we can make it right!!

  • @Kickedinthehead2112 Damn right. How these guys are not in the rock hall astounds me.

  • @kuroyama1 its like having a basketball hall of fame without michael jordan, a hockey HOF without wayne gretzky... its unreal!!

  • @Kickedinthehead2112

"Rock n roll" so called hall of fame is JOKE!!!!, and a bad one.....

  • I'd hate to anger Neil with those drumsticks in his hand.

That would be the most awesome-sounding beating ever.

  • What kind of set did Neil play back then? I think it was a Slingerland or a Luddy, but I'm not entirely sure....

  • Is this the "Live in Rio" version?

  • @mamababsi No friend

  • @mamababsi no, this was in the 80's

  • @mamababsi exit stage left i believe

  • Neil: *at le music store* how many cymbals do you have?

    Worker: over 150

Neil: ... i'll take them all.

  • needs more cowbell..

  • This must have been one of the first vids uploaded to YT, cool, Rush is awesome !

  • @TroyWBrown nobody other than me reply to this

    IT IS A TROLL

dont get mad or thats all the coments will show

  • if you wanna lose 5 pounds, air drum to this song! IT WORKS!!

  • @TroyWBrown I hope you are trying to be humurous

  • dear boys and girls:

I know that what you are witnessing is confusing. THIS is what a real drummer sounds like. THIS is what a kick-ass bassline sounds like. AND THIS is what it sounds like when a live band sounds even better than a recording. It happened a lot in the 70s. And now you know why your parents are so angry when you turn on that crappy manufactured drivel you call music.

  • @cattledrage LOL, so true friend, so good was it I put it as my status update on facebook. Maybe I'm bitter, but I so want the manufactured stuff back on the shelf, and bring back the real musicians!

  • @MultiRockah - i know it! there are a very few bands who can pull off a real live show anymore, which is sad, because no one seems to equate talent with music today. take away the studio/editing and most bands that are getting radio play these days would be up schitt creek w/o a paddle!

  • @cattledrage The only admendment I might make though to your very perceptive and eloquent post would be that (and maybe probably due to space requirements) Alex is no average guitarist either, he's definently one of the band and equal among them. Neil and Geddy oft do seem to stand out more and. your post doesn't include nor dispute that tho, and I've seen them up close live once (A favorite memory) I can only prove it best like this.. To keep up with Neil and Geddy, You have to be that good

  • @MultiRockah - I concur! Their chemistry is amazing!

  • @cattledrage are you God?

  • @cattledrage: I definitely share your opinion :D!

  • @cattledrage oh please did you really just say music today is shit? You know that every generation says that right? You should probably just never write such retard comments ever again.

There's lots of good music being made everyday, and this has always happened. Because you don't like it doesn't mean its crap. You're crap. Of course I dislike some music, but that doesn't mean it's crap, others CAN enjoy it.

  • @werwar666

Its not that music today is shittier than music of the past, its a difference between simple pop music and other forms of music, most of the latter ends up not being popular simply cos its different and isn't just a catchy melody or beat, or simply just goes over most peoples heads. This has being going on for a while, Rush for example; they were far from popular throughout much of their history. At the same time there's always been shitty 'pop music'.

  • @KeziasPrisonPriest I can agree with you on that. I hate it though when people claim all of todays music is bad. It's just plain retarded to make such a statement.

  • @werwar666 - aw. i get it. at 17 you already know everything about music, as evidenced by your extensive favorites list compiled solely from looped mixes. pfft. please. hit me back when grow some fuzz on your peaches.

  • @cattledrage oh no, and i like all sorts of music. I just dont listen to all my music via youtube. And my points still stand, you just judged me and didn't break any of my arguments. You are so unintelligent that it is just annoying.

  • @werwar666 - yep. surely, i'm unintelligent and judgemental, just because you say so. what a compelling argument, coming from a guy who trolls on youtube while the rest of us are here to enjoy the music. clearly, you must be superior. but hey, if rockin out to bubblegum pop makes you happy, please don't let me stand in your way.

  • @cattledrage You clearly did not understand my first reply. As I said, just because you say so doesn't mean that all music today is crap. and I dont troll on yoube, you just posted something retarded and I felt the need to point this out.

  • @werwar666 - at no point did i ever say that "all music today is crap". never, not even once. those are your words, not mine (see for yourself), which is why i find it hilarious that you are so worked up over something that i never even said. talk about judgeMENTAL... now hush, drama queen - there's a killer drum solo going on...

  • Comment removed

  • @werwar666 others can enjoy new mainstreem music, but it's overflowing with shit like. autotune, meaningless lyrics, mediacore instramental work. and music nowa days being more of a. who can be the biggest tool contest\a beauty contest, or the worst of it all, the who can be the biggest whore contest. and you are right that there's good music today... just not on the radio. the biggest example of a talentless person getting famous\a record real is paris hilton she was not even a singer.

  • @trollpatrolofficial "record deal" sorry by bad

  • @trollpatrolofficial oh i can totally agree on that, especially autotune and meaningless lyrics.

  • @cattledrage too bad this song is from the 80s

  • @IamMrFat - yes it is, and the band's streak of mainstream success began in the 70's, hence the reference.

  • @IamMrFat You missed the point derp.

  • @BlackoutOmega I get it, but it's fun to be an ass every once in a while and fact check, right?

  • @cattledrage

No reference to Alex Lifeson? Shame on you

  • @TroyWBrown hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @TroyWBrown then why are you listening to them? If you don't like something don't listen to it... simple as that

  • Didn't think much of the singing :D

  • after neil's drum solo in dublin a roadie came round the side of the stage and handed me his drum sticks, best concert EVER!

  • @Lulu2112rush there would of not been much left of the drum sticks after a neil peart drum solo if you know what i mean.

  • HOLY CRAP!!! Geddy Lee has an amzing vocals!

  • I always said Neil was a madman. This one proves it!

  • I love how Geddy and Alex LEAVE during Neil's solo haha

  • Neil pert is the best drummer in the world, he rules

  • here's the deal

this songs name is YYZ, and the beginning of this song is morse code for YYZ.

YYZ is airport code for toronto, where the band formed. its kind of a tribute song they made

  • que solo de bateria tan del putas

  • Awesome musicians!

The only time I used a pick was for playing Rush's pieces.

  • is it just me or does neil pert look like everybody? tom hanks, keanu reeves in matrix, and at 4:57 he almost lookes like red from that 70's show

  • @pked7173 minus the hair

  • @pked7173 And john david hannah

  • @dragonforcerox22 Danny Carey can...
