The music video is very clear, and is done really well in my opinion :) I think Cosmo has such amazing views and talent as a songwriter, and although the issues he deals with are so extreme, he handles them so well. Even though the video is phrased around the priesthood, and him getting away with things, what he's really capitalizing on is the people's fear. He has the power to excommunicate them and threaten them with hell, so they get mad, but aren't willing to risk their personal safety. It could have been phrased around other things, but no other topic so easily communicates the point. I think it's a brilliant way to say, "Hey, think for yourself, don't let fear tell you what's okay and not okay," etc.

I love the song but I think the video's a bit "off colour". There are thousands of priests and only a very small handful have done terrible things; just like a very small percentage of other people who aren't priests who have done similar things - Of course I am as shocked and appalled as anyone else is about those sex crimes but people shouldn't stereotype and must remember that most priests are ok and tend to be very nice people.

They will get away with what they did forever because of their standing in the church. This video is the way to balance it out.

I listened to a radio interview he did with Triple J and it is actually about members of the cloth using religion to get away with horrible acts, such as indecent assault etc.

The whole concept of "God made me do it" Or "I will repent for my sins and be saved as I am God's child".

To me the video is about the hypocrisy of preachers in general. I'm atheist, but it's about trusting people (priests and ministers) who put themselves between people and god. I mean on the one hand they'd have you believe god is making a list of your faults and checking it twice and on the other saying you need to go through THEM to reach him. And donate money of course. Are ministers really holier-than-thou? Not based on how often they're caught doing nasty crap and going to prison.
