I just downloaded the full game from xbox live, and its updated and everything, and literally every 5 minutes it freezes and i must manually turn of my xbox. I've deleted it and I am redownloading it now, so this better work.

but i don't know what I'm gonna do if this doesn't fix it. I cant get my money back, and I just really want to play the freakin game

just wanted to know my girl is having a problem with her xbox freezing the people at xbox are retarded they say it could of been a courpt file because she downloaded gears of war online saints row 2 and gta 4 instead of the on the harddrive but it lets her sign in and when she takes the hardrive out nutting happens theres no freezing can any 1 help me with my problem thanks :)

I cleared all my gta4 data and i even stopped using cheat codes and saving after deleteing everything. It STILL freezes. My disc is in new condition. Rockstar MUST patch this asap!

GTA isn't really meant to run off the cd as the laser runs flat out just trying to stream everything, every second just streaming. So what i did was looked at what the PS3 does and i saw that the HDD runs moost of it the laser may turn on every now and then. So what i did is installed it on the xbox HDD and it runs just like the PS3 nice and smooth and to be honest i'm not coping any loding time or frame rate killers, it runs perfectly fine on the HDD for me.

Hate to say it but you might need to get a new 360. That's what I did. It was a pain to do it but the upside is that now I have an HDMI port.

My game freezes as well. It seems like it just doesn't render or load anything completely when getting to different parts of the city. The game freezes but I'm still able to pop up the dashboard and all unlike some other games that freeze the whole console.

for me it froze 5 times until i finished the game.When i finished the game ewry now and then i went on the story compleat load to have some fun and it feezes ewry 5 min now.But if i go on my olders load or start the game over it never frezes only when i pass the game it freezes ewry 5 min

Myself and many others have the exact problem.

Over at the GTA IV forums there's a popular, useful thread about GTA IV freezing on the Xbox 360 after the NXE update. It's entitled "Widespread Recent GTA IV Freezing (360 Users)" if you want to google it since Youtube won't do links.

That's the EXACT same thing that keeps happening to me. I'm having trouble clearing Elizabeth's/Jacob's misison becuase it's so damn long. Finally after I outran the Feds, the game froze and I was pissed. This seriously needs to get patched. I've already tried getting a new 360 AND game.

Give this a try, i had the same problem with gta4 on my xbox 360. I cleared the cache on the HDD and it appears to have fixed the problem for me.

1. Go to the System Blade, then select Memory.

2. Highlight the Hard Drive and press Y.

3. Press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper,X, X.

4. Choose Yes to perform system maintenance.

I have a fix!!!!

1. Take all of your GTA IV saves from your HDD to a memory card

2. Take off the HDD

3. If it doesnt work take off autosave just to be sure

Works for me and my friend that had the same problem

I can't even get that far, I want to play this game so badly and it killed my xbox, seriously why did this happen this game is so much fun and now it's dead and it took cod4 and ao2 with it which were what I was going to use to take my aggression out about this because this sucks but not only are they not nearly as much fun to me after playing GTA, they freeze too just later than GTA does. Never had a problem before playing this game. This is ridiculous on all counts.

SAME! my 360 keeps freezing randomly with gta4 ONLY. barely ever freezes with any of my other games like bioshock, halo 3, turok, nba 2k8. none ever freeze ever...but gta IV freezes everytime i play it randomly. sometimes ill play 10minutes then it will freeze, then sometimes it will freeze at the beginning with that hot girl suckin a lollipop.

i finaly got my copy yesterday and was playing it fine. but today i turned my xbox on and it took a while to load so a thought it hadnt saved properly but it finaly loaded and froze straight away i crn't even got out of the safe house, so i tryed without my hard drive connected but the same thing happend yet i can still hear sound even though my xbox has froze out.
