saw this on Shock Theater in the '80s on a local TV station......it's pretty damned good for such a low budget flick. add a few beers, and it's even better, lol
I think I seen this before. Wasn't it's alternative title "Matthew?" Got it in some horror box set w/ 10 movies or so. I forgot the boxset's name, but it was also incorrectly dated too (1989).
@royalnaz1 Wrong... on both counts Return to horror high is not the sequel and is one of the era's best horror comedies... maybe you didn't get the comedy part that might make it suck
This is about a shy nerd who gets revenge on those who picked on him and made fun of him for a long time! Why doesn't hollywood make a re-make of this movie?
Greatest horror film ever made! Supposedly CODE RED is putting a restored and UNCUT (all existing prints were cut and additionally were padded with footage for tv prints, the murders were all toned down to acquire a PG Rating) dvd out this Summer!!! The violence should be much more brutal and gory. Considering CODE RED's track record, let's keep our fingers crossed, though it should be easy for them as the thing was remastered for a BCI/NAVARRE release that got cancelled two years ago!
I'm not about to watch this movie so bear with me here. I just don't get it. If the nerdy guy as victimized by the jock bullies, why is he taking things out on the teachers?
@OceanbornAngel ..regarding Horror High, in the film, the teachers who were attacked were equally guilty as the jocks of victimizing Vernon. The gym teacher especially, he tried to bully him into helping a jock pass chemistry.
I had an original vhs a couple years ago! Really FUN low budget madness! The paper cutter scene is great indeed! I'd love too get this on dvd! Never saw Don't Look IN The Basement myself - would like too tho!
that black guy with the white coat is really acting, i love movies like this, but i don;t remember watching this one, i am a real fan of these movies, love horror.
Poor Vernon...all he wanted was smokin' hot Rosie Holotik.
This was a fun little film. Back in the heyday of mom-and-pop video rental stores, you could find a copy of "Horror High" pretty much anywhere. Ah, those gaudy, oversized clamshell cases...
I remember watching this on tv in the seventies. I still remember the paper cutter scene! P.S does anyone remember the low budget "don't look in the basement"?
I hear Disney is remaking this film as Horror High School Musical. Vernon is to be played by Zac Efron and Selena Gomez is the girl. She'll sing the remake of the main title theme song as well.
I believe he stomps one of his teachers to death, but I can't remember which one. I seem to remember him having cleated football shoes on when he did it.
Sadly the TV print was cut and it was hard to see.
Well the thing is Horror High was made then someplace I think paramount got it and changed it to be put on TV under the name "The twisted brain" and then just stole it from there. BUT as of last summer they were going though the old film and there going to put horror high back out under horror high AND I hear that there making a new horror high but I don't know anymore about that.
I saw this on TV when I was like 10 years old when it was "Twisted Brain" it especially scared me because it was on "Double Chiller Theater" on TV and they showed it around midnight on Fridays, I watched it sitting in the dark by myself and had nightmares all that night - I didn't even watch the whole show it scared me soooo bad lol
I am also wondering if this is the precursor to Return To Horror High, in which the prologue alludes to the murders committed at Crippen High School in 1982.
It can't possibly be, because the killer is a
teenager, while in "Return", the killer turned out to be the former principal, Mr. Kastlemann, whose son Arthur, is the scriptwriter for Harry Sleerik's group, but it appears that insanity runs in the family, as the blood drips & the shadow falls.
This movie is also known as "Twisted Brain". I first saw it about 30 years ago late one night on a local tv channel. I didn't know until way later that it is also known as "Horror High". I like the movie.
I saw this more than once in the '70's. It's one of those movies that you don't forget. They used to play it at 2 AM and the sponsor was Cal Worthington Dodge. Remember him? He'd stand on his head while doing his speil "I'll stand on my head to make you a deal" I will stand upon my head, till my ears are turnin' red! Go See Cal, Go See Cal, Go See Cal!Then he'd be there with various animals having them do tricks.I wonder if he's still alive? Boy, was I brainwashed! LOL
I remember coming home late and the local station would play this every other month. Also played a movie about an all girls school where the husband & wife headmasters would kill & eat the girls. I don't remember the name of that one.
I sort of remember that channel 11 WPIX tv in nyc ran this late late at night one night. Ahhhh TV, before infomercial goo replaced bad late night cinema.
I remember it too. it was one of my fave films and it's actually not bad. The star of the film, Pat Cardi, also played in a little known William Castle movie from the 60's called "Let's Kill Uncle."
Remember seeing this one on the local creature feature under the title "Twisted Brain." Goriest movie I'd seen in my life--I didn't particularly enjoy it then.
même si en ces jours la technologie n'a pas existé comme aujourd'hui je pense toujours que les années 80 étaient l'âge d'or pour les films d'horreur.
