  • Was this the first or the second concert? I was at the second and Robert Plant was wearing this shirt.

  • rock it rock it

  • this was my first concert at 16 thought they would all be like this nothing come close even if the toilets colapsed half way through and always remember the race through the park when the gates where pulled down at 5 in the morning awsome !!!

  • The studio version is downright slow compared to this. I suppose they were all high on heroin?

  • There's a reason a lot of people idolize Jimmy Page...

  • 3:48 ¡¡¡EPIC FAIL!!!

  • the greatest band ever playing stones or not.

  • Jimmy played ok

    BUT PLANT IS AMAZING HERE

  • Is this from the first or second Knebworth night? Cause I saw another video of this song at Knebworth, and Jimmy plays well and the whole thing is different, and I don't know which night is which

  • @jimmyblues15 This is the second night and it is the one where they played badly.

  • @Matthew9444 Its a shame they did play badly. But still, they are a great band.

  • I was there, I was there, I was there. Absolutely fantastic night. They were superb and I was only 14 years old. They don't make them like this anymore. What a rock band!!

  • Lead Zerplen are the best 90's band eva . Rock on the 80's

  • @6591paul Lead Zerplen? 90's? Ahh, you troll....

  • @6591paul im assuming your actually retarded?

  • I was at this festival we all had a brill time Led Zep were fantastic

  • Damn for the crowd someone have JP's shot ready already!

  • jimmy page really messed up some solo's at this concert, but they way how he plays and the feeling he put in to his guitar, makes it good.

    love them!!!!!!!!!!

  • @charger4079 Those aren't drums. They seem to be cannons judging by the sound,

  • I hate this song live, not this version.

  • poderosisimo!!!!!!!! zeppelin!!!!! palabra mayor!!!!

  • I'm trying to talk my nephew into buying a white suit like JPJ's for bassplaying duties, he's ignoring me solidly. I tell him "look at these fashions!", he just doesn't listen.

  • @Zebonka Well i'm 17 and would love a white dragon suit or a blue shirt and white pants. Im a sucker for that kind of stuff.

  • @VanHalenLedZeppelin7 Cool, I tried to dress like this at our last gig, have a look

  • @Zebonka does your nephew know your gay?

  • Jesus! Just trying to make the guy look better; someone has to care about the band.

  • Back then you had been celebrated for that, today you would be boeed out. Shitty Times

  • Everybody thinks they're Lester Bangs.

  • Drugs destroyd Led Zeppelin, alcohol killed Bonzo

Or all of that thid the publicitet?(my english is very very bad :\ )

  • A reminder to all musicians not too play under the influence LOL

    Great stuff !!

  • STOP CRITICISING >. I WAS BROUGHT UP ON THIS BAND BAND BY MY BROTHER FROM AGE 10 AND I FINALLY SAW THEM LIVE AT THIS CONCERT >>WHEN I WAS 17.. IF YOU WANT PRFECT STUDIO SOUND FROM THE 70'S LOOK UP THE OSMONDS OR ABBA ..THAS THE WAY IT WAS THEN ..YOU BUNCH OF IDIOTS

  • @ademacl152 omg i wish i was born 30 years earlier... so i could've seen this happening

  • @ademacl152 you was at this concert?

    why...why not me :( why am i only 16 why ?!?!?!!?!

  • @ademacl152 YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOO LUCKY IT SUCKS FOR ME BEING 13 NOWADAYS D:

  • @ademacl152

Justin Hayward called the studio .. the blueprint to the show.

i think that his point was the live was live and however that was,it was the band at it's truest

anyone looking for perfection should stay home, drop some orange and look at picture's of the band.

stay yr course, young man. you're thinking in the right way.

  • hahaha 3.48.....you'll never shake jimmy's holy hand :D

  • Best phucking song in the world ever!!!!!

  • you will never walk alone *-*

  • come on guys nobody can say that they suck. go up there and try to play. you would fuck yourselves so SHUT UP and LISTEN TO 4 MASTERS.

  • lol at the fail at 3:48-ish

  • the only good bit was all of it

  • oh shit Page was bearly able to managed that solo :o/

  • @TheTourlous haha yup "Knebworth"- the most drugged up show

  • 0:00-9:54 sweet mother of god that was amazing

  • ooh yeah - I was there - it was lame

  • CHECK THIS OUT LITTLE KIDS PLAYING LED ZEP ROCK N ROLL AMAZING Rebels of Rock - O2 Academy Birmingham Music For Youth Festival

  • Led Zeppelin's dedication to 'Little Walter' Devine. He is a DJ from Derry,NH. His show Litttle Walter's Time Machiene is about the first decade of Rock & Roll from 1954 to 1964.

  • Wait. Sorry. Bonzo was in RARE form and was fully in control of his game. Sorry Bonzo. You could always carry yourself behind your drum kit.

And JPJ was of course taking care of his deal. But the two frontmen....well, they were just plain washed up by 1979...one from 2 much heroin, the other from not being judicious with use of screams.

  • Look no one can dispute the power of this song and the greatness of Led Zeppelin. But who can honestly say that this is a good performance? Plant can't SING anymore by 1979. He CANNOT hit the notes AT ALL. And page's licks are nowhere compared to the studio version. THEY SUCKED here. Sorry.

  • @travkatz You don't seem to realise that this was the end of an EXTREMELY long set on a very hot day, I know because I was there.

  • @stutty1400

and every other recording and video I've seen since 1973 is the same, right? they were tired. they were this they were that. Bottom line: Page was WASTED. Page's mind is currently wasted. Page can't remember what he was even doing back then today. He can't access the memory banks from those days. They don't exist. and Plant hasn't been Plant as a singer since the mid 70's.

  • @travkatz Were you there?

  • @stutty1400 I was and I wasn't. I'm 45 yrs. old. Believe it or not, I was a Zeppelin fan back then in the 70's. I remember going to see the Song Remains the Same at the midnight movies back then and thinking to myself "why did they put this movie out? They SUCKED! Plant couldn't sing and Page played like some roadie who tunes his guitars!" I have always felt that way about any live performance I've ever seen or hear by them, EXCEPT for the early shows. I never saw them live however.

  • @travkatz this was plants voice at is best and new form since early 73. and some OCCASIONAL shows in 77, one where he actually sang the high parts of Over the hills and far away, Plants voice changed after 73 and finally got good control of his new voice by the 79

  • @livezeppelin yeah and his "new voice' is a remnant of Robert Plant, a weak remnant at that. He ruined his voice. Period. He should have taken singing lessons.

  • @travkatz ha, good joke, if plant took lessons he would have never had that robert plant voice, he would have had a chorus type voice and zeppelin wouldnt be zeppelin, between heavy touring, and a couple packs of cigs day, it was bound to happen, page shoulda took lessons apparently too right? cuz if you study him in school his guitar "techniques" are abnormal to the "right way". please, this all made zeppelin unique and the biggest band in the 70s

  • Pretty good lol XD

  • I cannot get over Jimmy's smile...

  • Long Life... HAMMER OF THE GODS

  • The version on the Zed Zeppelin DVD is better-but ,this still rocks

  • Check out maaa band :)

  • That's not sweat, that's excessive heroin coming through his pores.

  • these two shows mark the return of Plant's voice... and I'm sure he could've hit those high notes here.

  • To me the best live voices of all time have to go to

    1. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple

    2. Roger Daltrey

    3. Ozzy

    and

    4. Jim Morrison

    Best guitarist live

    1. Jimmy Paige and Jimi Hendrix tie

    best band live

    1. tie between The Who and Led zeppelin

  • um Robert plant was very great, but he got some kind of accident i think i dont remeber but, he lost his voice D:

and... i dont know... but... all the who songs are like... the same... like the same dam structure (sorry for the bad english)

  • @gustavorockshaha what about Geddy Lee of Rush? Go listen to some of their earlier stuff like Working Man and Fly by Night

  • @Nonah1223 oh totally forgot geddy and rush, i only really really really like neil pert, and i like ian gillans high pitched screams better than geddy's, but geddy lee is pretty amazing too, who doesnt rock out to tom sawyer???

  • @gustavorockshaha and also Alex Lifeson, go listen to some of his solos and watch his fingers. It ain't easy to play like that!

  • @Nonah1223 Yeah, but he doesnt play it like pagey does, not life in it, page may be sloppier, but you are like there, Alex Lifeson doesnt improvise or anything, and i mean, Pagey wrote Stairway to heaven and kashmir (: Neil Pert wrote all rush songs, which is why he is drum god (:

  • wow what an ovation!

  • plant's voice perfect on this one

  • Bonzo looks like he could smash right thru that snare, what incredible power!

  • hahaha so funny jimmy's shirt, seems like he is a S size and he's wearin a xxl size hahaha

  • now days its the other way around, teeny weeny t-shirts was cool around here for a while, check out,"SatisfactionGuaranteed" ,JimmyPage and PaulRodgers in the Firm, its a riot,

  • @AELesPaul Lol he was a very thin man at this time. I mean, Anorexicly thin.

  • yeah, what i know it's because he was kinda leavin drugs, right? and started to smoke like crazy, right?

  • Exactly lol. Heroin often does this to even the most in control users. Heroin, alcohol, Marijuana and other stuff combined will take down anybody. His weight dropped a lot because of this toxic cocktail. Truthfully, if Bonham didn't die, Jimmy was on his way out. His attitude, physique, power, and stamina went way down. He even had a few heart problems because of this. Though, he stopped and most issues stopped Thankfully.

  • the best band ever

  • u r totally right tomzonda

  • haha, no shit, right on man!

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH always ROCK N´ROLL LED ZEPPELIN THE BEST BAND OF THE ROCK AND ROLL OF ALL TIMES

    my favorite band

    YEAHHHH

  • 3:12

  • fastest version ive heard ... luv it

  • Retard question here but did they play more than one night at Knebworth?? I can't remember, and this is way different to what's on the DVD.

  • @Zebonka yeah, they played two times in Knebworth in 1979,

the set on the 'Led Zeppelin DVD' is a mix of songs from both performances

  • @raaaaaaaaaak no the songs are from the 4th only on the dvd although jimmy page used some video from the 11th for some unknown reason even though 4th audio is played on top of it they are only small clips

  • @Zebonka yes lol

  • I was there and I'll be boasting to the grandchildren about that if I ever have any. Oh and all this picky x is better than y stuff suggests to me a fundamental lack of understanding around rock n roll. You either hear it in your head or feel it in your balls. Who gives a f*ck who's technically 'better' than who.

  • Good comment quantise, I was there too, and It's one of my stories to my kids! Also saw the Stones, Utopia, 10cc, Lynrd Skynrd and a load of others! WHAT A WEEKEND!!! I wuz wrecked!

  • best concert ever!!

  • i love how everyone's so damn picky about everything. the way he sings, the way he plays guitar, the way he's quiet, the way he bashes the drums, as opposed to the way he wails, the way he plays drugged, the way his outfit looks, the way he plays when drunk. come on now. its great to express your opinion, but just sit back and enjoy the spontaneity of it. your not gonna get any more of it. at least not soon.

  • no offense to zep or anything but plant sounds so much better in studio. don't take this the wrong way, i hate everything modern and love everything zep but plant really does sound better. i would give anything to live in the era of these gods but plant sounds so much better in studio. i know someone is going to rip me for this but oh well.

  • @warriordawg8

Mayby he sounds better in studio but imo we should respect the fact that he is not afraid to sing live and he is doing it amazingly... show me an example of modern band which can do same MUSIC show like zep did through so many years... for me the measure of being "music god" is an ability to do same thing on stage as you did in studio... zep went one step further couse they always improvise what makes them greater in fact :)

  • there is no modern band that can come even close to them or any classic rock band. just sayin' they are better in studio

  • plant sings better in the studio version....

  • The who, led zep, pink floyd,..... are all great bands, to say what band is better is a waste of time, and a matter of opinion.

I like them all for different reasons.

why knock the bands you do not like ?

  • Lets be real ... Zep was a studio band, even Page acknowledged that. Xcept Plant He used to take days to record a track, whereas JPJ and JB and JP could do it in one take). They were musicians more than head thumpers. Their music was way ahead of its time ... Just look at the number of Symphonic Orchestras who have played their music (many of which did not recreate the atmosphere of the originals)

  • I disagree, royal albert hall was a magical concert, and let's not forget moby dick was definitely better live, and also they imporvised live which was what I like about them, they were great at doing that :)

  • Jimmy's sweat could have satisfied an African families thirst for a week.

    Long live the Led!

  • @Pagedrixton Dude, that's disgusting. But true.

  • Comment removed

  • Shockingly poor sound quality. Planty never could sing but sounds like a strangled cat here. Zep were a great band. Live they were inferior to The Who but so were everyone else but this is poor.

  • Zeppelin inferior than The Who??? WTF are you talking about? Led Zeppelin owned The Who on every fucking way.

  • They're both amazing bands. Don't rule out The Who. You only have to watch "Won't Get Fooled Again" or "Baba O'Riley" on here to realise they are way up there with LZ. Quite different bands, both brilliant.

  • Actually, no, they didn't :-)

We could argue this forever and I could never even make up my own mind. depends on my mood.

  • Just face it. Led Zeppelin had a better drummer, bassist, guitarist, and of course a better singer. Roger Daltrey just made The Who worst. Pete Townshend could have made the same without Keith, John, or Roger because he practically wrote every good song The Who has, even the lyrics!

  • the who is much better live , keith is the greatest drummer ever.. Pete is better live than Page, the John Entwistle is the king of the bass .. I like Zep more than the WHo

  • Bonzo was the greatest drummer ever. Kidding me right? Townshend better than Page? Led Zeppelin was the best live band ever. Every performance was different, their connection and improvisation has no match. About John and Jonesy, it's difficult to say who was better. They were both great but Jonesy is always underrated. In my opinion Jonesy is just better.

  • Townshend wrote better songs.

The Who are far more interesting live, with a better catalogue of songs to perform. Zeppelin live could sometimes descend to plodding repetition. And Page's playing could be notoriously sloppy (*ducks from flying chair).

Plus the Who had marvellous 3 part harmonies.

Daltrey sang and looked better than Plant.

  • Ok man it's just stupid to discuss with you. Zeppelin was, is, and will be the greatest band ever. The only really good song The Who has is Baba O'Riley. Yes, Page could be sloppy but that was his magic. He plays better than Townshend and no one doubts that. Plus, he wasn't always sloppy, he started on '75 mostly.

  • pink floyd is the best band page sucks live.. townshend does not

  • Ok whatever, lets just leave it here.

  • Jimmy Page 10000000 times better than Pete Townsesnd at the guitar, LIVE and IN THE STUDIO.

Dont get me wrong i am a fan of Pete Townsend, but Jimmy Page is just a guitar god.

Pete Townsend's name dosent even deserve to be in the same sentence as Jimmy Page.

  • JImmy page sucks live... and i will never stop saying that. he is the best next to jimi hendrix and david gilmour.. but live damn he suckks listen to the solos

  • I have been defending Jimmy Page live for a long time now. He did not like to play the studio versions and he wanted to "feel" it or improvise during the concerts. He can be tight if he wants to (he was the best session musician in England before the joined theYardbirds). Plus I don't think people realize how much herion he was using during the time it's amazing he even made it to '79....the drug used to be nicknamed "Page". When your name is linked to a drug.........................

  • its not about if he plays the song like the studio version is how he plays it.. les pauls should not have that horrible tone..

he has never played descent live... sorry about the heroin who cares... many guitarrist are drunk and hi.. and they can play better..

  • Your a dumb shit.

I got about 5000 bootlegs from concerts begging to differ about pages playing.

Go listen to the song remains the same you cunt.

  • get a gun ..bazooka please.. and shoot your self in the head

  • its only really in this concert that he is woefull

he is much better in the august 4th concert

  • pete townshed is better live... thats my opinion atfer listening to the solos....

  • WEALL YOUR OPINION IS WRONG DICK HEAD.

You should not judge Led Zeppelin on one performance ESPECIALY THIS ONE BECAUSE THIS IS ONE OF THEIR WORST EVER

I am a big fan of the Who, but LED ZEPPELIN TOATALY AND UTTERLY BLOW THE WHOS SORRY ASS OUT OF THE WATER

You are either death or retarded..

  • Comment removed

  • Who's Next is consistently better songwriting from start to finish than the No Name album. In general his songs are wittier, more interesting, and more droll than those of that huge, disgusting object you compare him to.

  • The Who was more repetitive, they belong to those bands that play a song note by note. And it's obvious that sometimes Plant's voice was destroyed, I mean thay performed almost every night and the gigs lasted like 3 hours.Disgusting!? So you are saying that Untitled is disgusting!? I would be more careful before choosing the adjectives to describe one of the best albums ever made, sir. I'm 16, do you have any problem with that?

  • Pete Townshend referred to LZ as that "huge, disgusting object". I think he meant the band's image and perhaps the Zep icon. I wasn't thinking of Untitled. Which, by golly, is one of my favourite discs. And so is Who's Next.

Sometimes I like one band better, sometimes the other. What I admire most in Zep was their firm control over their own product.

Please don't tell us any more personal data like your age.

  • Zeppelin had a wider variety of songs and covered many genres. Zeppelin repetitive?? You have to start listening more bootlegs. Daltrey better than Plant? If I were you I would get a new pair of ears. Finally, if you think Townshend wrote better songs, COULD YOU PLEASE FUCK OFF, GO TO LISTEN TO THE WHO AND LET US LISTEN TO THE GODS OF ROCK!

  • Excitable little chap aren't you?

I said Zep *sometimes was repetitious. Good concert example: Trampled Underfoot.

The accelerando section of Stairway would have sounded better with Moon on drums.

Sometime in 1972 Plant's voice was destroyed. After that he could no longer go higher than A, yet they insisted on opening every concert with Rock 'n Roll. The cracking voice on the first verse would be forever painful "Been a long t *& me" OUCH!!! Check the bootlegs if you don't believe me.

  • i think you should watch "the lost tapes" and "royal albert hall" videos... you will change your mind.

  • Hey what about Humble Pie? They may be a little forgotten these days but in the early 70's they were phenomenal live band. There's not much live footages available but what it is put on YouTube surly can give you an idea how good they were

    Some live stuff on YT

    For Your Love

    Black Coffee

    I Don't Need No Doctor

    the footage from Bilzen Festival

    Sad Bag Of Shaky Jake

Actually I'm in awe of Marriott's live vocal delivery

Live at Leeds and Rockin' The Fillmore -a very top live albums of the 70's IMHO

  • The Best Rock Band !!

  • Jeez! Bonham got fatter than Moonie!

  • Is it me or do they sound bad? Out of practice kind of bad!!!!

  • hay grabaciones pirata mejor

  • Im totally speechless

  • Miren a Jimmy, eso es Transpirar la camiseta!!!

    Jimmy Rules!!!

    Robert is God!

Bonham destroy the drums, he was Awesome!!! R.I.P

John Paul Jhones make the bass Talk!

  • hehe 3:50 a guy tries to shake hands with the mighty Page... unsuccessfully. And concerning Plants voice it's freaking brilliant here

  • rejected

  • This was rock and roll at its peak.. Nobody has ever come close to this band.

  • Amazing!

  • that's a looong ovation

  • i was there, loved it

  • Why is Page sweating so heavily? Is it the drugs?

  • um I don't know if you have ever been on a stage playing your ass off...but by the end of the night you would be sweating pretty badly as well. those lights are freaking hot. but the drugs don't help either.

  • when you play the drums you sweat as hell....but is the best way to feel fuckin alive!!!

  • Maybe it was hot in there.

  • its the playing, and its probably really hot in that theater. and hes probably totally stoned.

  • FYI Knobworth was an outdoor festival

  • El sona da diu'! com 'e' brav el tuso Pagey!

    Che ne pensat ti?

  • I love the story behind this song. John Bonham was whaling on the drums, Jimmy Page jumped in, and whatever song they were going to record went out the window.

  • Fucking amazins, their attitude is just great !!

    RIP Bonham...

  • lmao Jimmy is so out of it! I love his facial expressions in this!

  • Dig It! Or Split!

  • Jimmy Page...The Riff Master

  • begs the question why are you on the video in the first place,

  • You try playing this song when stoned and exhausted. This was the end of their set and Jimmy was high as a kite the whole time. Plant's vocal chord operation never helped at all either. Give them a break.

And saying Bonham + JPJ is a weak rhythm section... you're insane...

  • the greatest rhythm section rock has ever seen

  • not to mention bonzo would have had atleast 12 pints before this

  • Aint that the bloody truth.

  • plant look muck older than the others in this concert

  • BONZO IS A BEAST!!!!

  • poor fragile jimmy... he didnt eat his meat and he was much to weak to handle a serious junk habit... good thing he didnt get as bad as keith richards because he would have died.

  • page is off is head more than i ever seen him before in other vids hahahahaha mad

  • FUCK YEAH NIGGERS!

  • They played this much better at the other Knebworth show . I think this was the 2nd show

    from 79

  • if i had a time machine the first thing i woud do woud be to watch a zep consert then save jesus from the jews by bringing a ak47 back in time then id save bonzo and after that kill hitler(:

  • that's the attitude come on... but keep on cleaning til present time! xD

  • Good to see you have your priorities in order...Led Zeppelin 1st, then Christ!

  • yea man they are jesus to me

  • I've seen guys today wearing their shirts like Robert is - the front tucked in with the back out. I didn't realize he was doing it back in 1979!

  • 3:50

    FAIL.

  • i bought this DVD on ebay for about 20$, gota say its the best 20$ ive ever spent in my life, great video i suggest any1 to purchase it.
