Google does not use the keywords meta tag in web ranking

Did anyone actually notice that this Youtube page actually uses Meta Keywords? Look at the code. If Google doesn't use keywords why would Youtube (a subsidiary of Google) use it????

The keywords metatag is used by many internal search systems. he mentions Google Search Appliance, but many scripts and other search systems use the keyword tag. Therefore its still important to populate this. I failed to once and it all had to be added later as it was needed for non search engine purposes.

But do you know what you've got, Google, even though it does people no good to spam keywords anymore? They're using the small text and invisible text on their actually pages just spamming keywords all over the place.

And don't tell me to report those pages because I did and nothing was done about it -- this site is still high -- HIGH -- in the rankings and she still has the keyword spamming.

They don't use it for the ranking but Google still uses the string (words) which you write in the meta tags. We made a test and put the relevant keyword ONLY in the keyword meta tag - Google found the page and displayed it in the search result for this word. Google reads EVERY bit of text in the source - so you can use the meta tag keywords to have one more place to put keywords in ...

I am sure he is right, what he fails to say is what they do use. I upload videos and cant even find them myself so dont expect others to find. Often no matter how many people upload an item one or two same names always come up in the search. Try typing in a Gospel song and see one name every where, Why is that.

I have another question. What about rich snippet? Maybe you don t use metatag keyword content but you ll need some rules in order to evaluate the information...

The name is not metatag keyword or subject content but ...whatever de name is...

Maybe it's just me being confused here. Required? From what I can see in the HTML spec no meta tags are _required_.

Anyways, I'm just saying that there is still a lot of meta tags that can be useful (not only for SEO), so I don't agree with your statement "Forget meta tags i say.".
