I think you did a nice job. Having flown this approach numerous times in the bus, it can be disconcerting dealing with the parking garage just off the end of the runway. 27 also has no ILS glidepath, and the VASI is steeper than standard. This approach is considered mildly challenging due those factors. More so if you don't do it for a living. :0)

@kharam10 hey man there is a "save flight video" or "flight video" option in the top of you tool bar... or if im not mistaken you press the ; key.. that should bring up the menu but i dont remember... all you do is fly and it records it like a savable instant replay....

The problem wasn't adding power, but misjudging when to cut power. Easy to do with a jet without a radar altimeter, or GPWS!

@tf51d this is a hard approach i have done it in real life, adding a bit of power to cushion the touchdown on the last minute is not that big of a deal, the worst would be damaging the landing gear or even worst costing your company around $5000 for going around.

FSX is a free world.. you can do any route in anywhere in the world you wish to. make sure you have a good PC though!

talkyrocko, liascm answered your question correctly, FS-Recorder is much better then the default instant replay. With it you can record the entire flight, including AI. Instant replay can't do that, and it is smoother also. You can get it at fs-recorder . net (Remove spaces) BTW it's free.

the ariane 737 is pretty good. It is totally worth the 99 bucks if you dont like flying 747s and want to stick with local flights. The textures are uber-frame-rate friendly. I get like 30-40 steady outside of the plane in New York, and my system isn't too great.

It actually wasn't that hard a landing at all. What made me bounce was not cutting power when I should have which resulted in the skip. If the plane had a radar altimeter, it probably wouldn't have happened. Plus I'm getting better at judging distance to the ground now even without it.

Did you come up with that brainstorm all yourself? Jets fly visual approaches all the time in clear weather. Whether or not they use automation for all or part of the approach is pilots discretion. Usually they will use the AP down to about 500, and fly it in manually from there. Plus there are airports that require visual approaches, such as the DCA Rnwy19 river visual. Commercial liners need to go IFR because you can not be VFR above 18,000ft. and jets rarely go below that. To use the autopilot you must have the ILS tuned in, and ILS is only IFR. Your confusing the technical with the reality. A lot of times pilots will TECHNICALLY be going ifr, but as you said they will be using the visual of the runway (however they have to fly it manually if they choose to do it that way).

Also, that is San Diego, so it is not visually required. A big jet, in this case an A320, going visual into San Diego would simply not happen. The closest thing to that that would happen is the pilots would be IFR, but owuld be using the visual of the runway for the landing, thus flying it manually. However, you did get me curious with that video. I would look into it more if I thought that possible.

One Runway 27 at KSAN does not have an ILS, it's a LOC/DME approach. When you are on approach you are well below FL180, so it's perfectly normal for any aircraft to fly visual if the weather conditions are good. You are only required to use instruments in IMC conditions.

That's true, however you can't change it in flight. For example if the weather is great but I want to cruize at Fl270, I can't go IFR so I can get that high and then once on approach change to VFR. However if your IFR that doesnt mean you cant use the visual of the runway (in fact it's required in the minimums, except for CatIII class C.) so although the controller will clear you for an ILS approach, that doesn't mean you are obligated to use your ILS indicator, unless the visibility is low.

I think we're saying the samething now, just around about way of saying it. We weren't talking about enroute IFR vs VFR, only Visual vs instrument approaches. Of which are controlled by the conditions at the destination airport. Of which if the conditions call for visual it's at pilots discretion whether to fly it manual or use the AP for all or part of the approach, more commonly they'll fly auto to 500ft then fly it manually (If ILS equipped approach) KSAN Rnwy 27 doesn't have a full ILS.

I would steer away from anything AMD, and look at Intel C2D's first. They out perform AMD's right now on every level. My system is an E6850 with 2GB and a 8800GT. (Although this video was shot with my old system R.I.P. a E6700 2GB ATI 1950XTX crossfires. My new system performs even better with it's 1333mhz FSB.

OK...FIRST: look obove the disks...you should find a golden-yellow sticker that says PRODUCT KEY: (THEN YOUR NUMBER) SECOND: YOU NEED TO HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION. THIRD: I only got 2 disks and mine works fine.
