do you have the sheet music for this? I've wanted to learn this song ever since i found out that Thomas Moore's poem (Remember the Glories of Brien the Brave) was put to music using this tune
Forgive me for this silly question, but is it hard to learn to play Harp? compared to other instruments? i know its quite subjective as each person is different... but still :)
@BeidhArLaLinn Hello. No it's not a silly question. I have always played piano, and the harp seemed a natural transition. Wether it was the ability to read music, or the burning desire to squeak a tune out of the harp, I can't say, but piano/harp seemed to me a natural swap. I taught myself by also watching people on youtube. It is a super friendly community.
@faeryharper have you a musical education background or are you a complete autodidact? would you recommend lessons? so sorry for all the questions :D I absolutely adore the Harp sound and i have nothing but awe for people who play as well as this. but it makes one reflect on their own skillset :P unfortunately i doubt i could afford propper scholing... a tin wistle is ofcourse the cheaper option :P
@BeidhArLaLinn . I had piano lessons from an early age. Never brilliant, but got through the grades. I would reccommed lessons if you can find a teacher. My improper hand position limits what I can play. But on the other hand, does it really matter?
Your playing is truly wonderful. I hope that some time you will do a longer version of Carloan's Dream it has such a beautiful melody. I much prefer your version to Mark Harmer's, which I think is too fast and over-decorated. I notice that buzzing on the sound is absent on your newer pieces too. A 'buzz-free' version of this one would be even better. Thanks for letting us hear your music.
hey ive just learn this tune off your video and was wondering of thats the structure, the first part twice and second part once? id be grateful if you could let me know!thanks
I tend to leave the repeats out, as I can't guarantee to get them right both times. The middle section should be repeated (8 bars), but the rest is as Kim Robertson arranged it. I hope you will post soon!
sorry its not played in E flat, ( i play this song in two different keys) it is played in C with the F's sharpened. sorry i dont read music well, just play well. lol ;)

Led Zeppelin actually used this song as an inspiration for Stairway To Heaven. Listen to the beginning of both and the similarities are obvious.

I learned to play it from her and all my sharps and flats are down so it would be in the key of E flat.
Hope that helps!

Sweet and lovely, nice dreamy tempo. What kind of harp are you playing? I'm trying to learn this piece, and listening to you play it really helps.
