They actually held up the original flag with their bare hands while the british fleet shelled them! They were given a choice to lower when they did not the british fired upon the flag which took several direct hits! They stood in direct fire and held up our flag when one was killed another took his place untill there was a pile of bodies living and dead all holding up Old Glory! Makes you look at it little different doesn't it?

The original is in the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

@newbtuber333 The Flag used that day can be seen daily at the Smithsonian Museum, before 9-11 was exhibit at certain hours, but after that day until all soldiers come back home is in permanent display.
