After Effects => Generate => Lightning

Play around a little bit with the settings and your lightning will even look better.

Then you only need to add some kind of smoke. Personally I would probably use stock footage but there are several ways as always...

Way better than anything I can do. My only problem with it is that Avada Kedavra isn't quite so tendrily unless its Priori Incantatum where one wand is in direct conflict with another. Otherwise it's more of an orb type thing...at least from what I've seen. Other than that little piece of input, great work dude. :)
