@blaxpear Because half the classes are lecture note classes where the notes are typed out and shown to you, and there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO FUCKING CHANCE you can write them out by hand and follow the lecture and get every single word of the notes in the class. Before the laptop, students had to bring audio recorders to lecture classes like that even when they attended to hear the lecture after.

However, I can type notes and listen to every word when using a keyboard, and write fast enough.

@wax333 wow. you must have a pretty nice laptop construction that absorbed a lot of the shock. i know a lot of newer laptops have floated enclosures and what not. the laptop i lost the drive on is about 5 years old, and i literally lost it by dropping it maybe 6 inches flat onto a desk. Dropping and rolling on the corners would likely affect the hard drive less.
