Wow this movie's made of suck and fail; I no more believed this was the 18th century than I believe my neighbor's a zombie on Halloween cause he's got a shit load of makeup and torn clothes on. The castrati looks like Adam Ant circa Prince Charming era , the visual narration is simplistic and sophomoric, and people who rave about the 'beautiful singing' aren't the sort who listen to classical music, it seems, since it's merely adequate.
Sloppy awful stuff, of course the hoi polloi will dig it!
Don't you see the clip where he starts bleeding!? They cut off hit testicles so that he kept that bright voice for his whole life ! Sad way to live, but beautiful voice still!
He doesn't kill himself. He leaves England with Alexandra. They fall in love. Riccardo finds them "erares" his debt with Carlo. Alexandra gets pregnant and Riccardo leaves them, for ever, leaving to war.
я не могу знать какой была эпоха барокко.но если она была такая красивая как этот голос.я хочу туда. не важно сколько голосов пели эту арию.важно что это очень красиво!
@2010wieliczka - Derek is one of America's greatest countertenors who happens to live in Britain. So you are correct in that aspect. He is not British. But in the end that's neither here nor there; regardless, the meshing of the two voices in the film works beautifully.
My father couldn't stand to watch it with me more than once... So I wore my earphones for a good twenty four minutes. I have only dreamed of having such a beautiful voice. As a young boy of eleven, I gained the voice of a hundred drums. My gain a blessing, my desire the curse. If only.....
Subarashii !!!! Wonderful .... But I wonder why does Handel still watches Farinelli's singing eventhough he detest him that much ....

Oh, I haven't words...
Except for the errant thought that Handel there is all hot and bothered.

Allow me to weep
for my cruel fate
and that I sign for freedom.
The sadness breaks
the torture of my suffering,
if only out of pity.

Farinelli jamás cantó una ópera de Handel. Aunque sinceramente, en este caso me da igual el rigor histórico.

I cant believe that one day I've cried because of this kind of music. It's wonderful voice but terrible sad.

Ewa Malas-Godlewska is a lyrical soprano, in the text is a mistake, for it is written that the mezzo-soprano.
