I was on this flight, returned to the UK after 3 years in Dubai and travelled Business Class as a treat on the first Emirates A380 flight to London. Amazing aircraft, incredibly smooth, great experience!
@mcpcshowcase Air France are going to use one to LHR i was reading this in the BusinessTraveller site from June 12th to Aug 30th it's like a long weekend thing.
more than likelys you will know about this already?
@mcpcshowcase Air France does send A380's to LHR! Awesome isn't it? In three months my thoughts have changed as well, I didn't expect AF to do so either, but now they're selling tickets from CDG to LHR on A380, all for crewtraining!
lol u right dude ihave never seen an a380 land gently like the b747 becausei was saying since its heavier it would compress the air but i dont see that im wondering if it can ever land like that oh wel i hope they enjoy the a380 cause i think its just too big and i dont want to be with 500 pax flying with me
i have seen ity its an ok landing not the smoothest landing though but still im just saying that it does not seem that the a380 can land as smooth as the b747 to me it lands like the b767 because it has the same landing gear footprint so its kinds bumpy
Actually the A380 has a lower landing speed in comparison to 747 due to the design of the gull wing. A typical A380 at full weight will be 152knts and 123knts for a very light A380.
A typical 747 will land at about 130 - 160knts depandant on weight.
I don't get what you mean? Do you mean only 2 A380's total? or 2 visiting Heathrow?
There is actually three carriers operating 15 A380's now SIA, Emirates and QANTAS. Air France and Lufthansa are the next to get theirs in 2009 and 2010 respectively. Production is really beginning to ramp up now.
yeah, that tends to be the problem with viewing aircraft at Heathrow. Though with this video I wanted to use the trees to try and provide a scale so that people can see just how big this plane is. It still doesn't give this scale.
I have since made another video on my new HD channel (mcpcshowcaseHD) which directly compares a 747 with an A380 landing at Heathrow which works a lot better.
I manged to get a last minute seat in first class on that flight. It definitely lived up to the hype. You really feel the size of the aircraft, especially on takeoff; its quite inspiring
Awesome aircraft and a very comfortable and engaging cabin environment. I would definitely recommend it to the discerning traveller.
I am not sure where in-flight luxury will go from here, but it is going to take something special to beat the luxury in the new 380s.
I love flying. The force of the acceleration at take off, the floaty feeling you have just after take off as the power is eased off and I actually like a bit of turbulance. Makes the flight so much more fun.
I have never seen an airlines with so much concupiscence, prurience, desire, craving what ever word there is to describe this egregious, first-class airline.
Emirates Airlines is and will always be the best airline in aviation history.
I have just flown on the A380 from London to Dubai A6-EDA and also on the return leg. What an awesome piece of kit this plane is. Its truly fantastic. I cannot recommend Emirates highly enough. The service, fascilities etc are just great even in economy. I have flown many times on various aircraft but nothing could of prepared me for the A-380. I have never been on a plane so quiet even on take off you can hardly hear the engines...It purrs! Fantastic! Boeing have alot of work to do to catch up.
I heard about British Airways Airbus a 380 on London-Montreal route maybe next year. But I think to see the British Airways Airbus a 380 in the skyes of Montreal because British Airways use the Boeing 777-200 ER on that route and BA has ordered the a 380 to replace a Boeing 747-400.
BA is due their first A380 in 2012. I suspect they will initially replace their ageing 747 fleet first but you never know. Emirates have replaced 777-300's on their Dubai-London routes.
The Wave 2 aircraft are finally rolling off the production line. These aircraft have the wiring correctly installed so we should really begin to see production ramp up in the coming months.
BA is due to receive its first Airbus a 380 in april 2012 that means it will be 3 months before London Olympic Games and in 2013 Virgin Atlantic will receive its first Airbus a 380 but I don't know in what month of 2013. Do you think BA will put its Airbus a 380 on London-Montreal route I don't think so and I think the British Airways a 380 will be used on London-Delhi and London-Los Angeles route but the BA internet site says about the Boeing 747-400 replacement by the Airbus a 380.
Airlines are continually assessing the success of their current routes and they also look at the potential success of new routes.
BA may well decide that the A380 is a viable aircraft for a particular route maybe replacing two smaller aicraft for one A380 flight so that they can deploy the smaller aircraft on other routes for example.
It's all about meeting demand and making as much money (profit) as they possibly can.
Never say never, you never know what is around the next corner.
Its verry nice but I would like to know if you have been on board of the Airbus a 380. If yes what was the airline? Plus have you ever been in Montreal? Plus in 2012 in Europe, it will be a tax for the CO2 rejected by the airplanes and I would like to know if this tax will exist in the UK. If yes will it start before the London Olympic games wich one's will begin on july 27th 2012 and finish on august 12th 2012.
I have never been onboard an A380 sadly, but I would like to fly on the QANTAS and Emirates A380 someday soon. Have never bean to Montreal but would like to visit Canada at some point. I have in information about the taxes though!
Ok go ahead. Plus if you would like to visit Canada, take BA because British Airways is the best Airline between the England and Canada. Plus how about to fly Singapore Airlines Airbus a 380?
You have never been on board of the Airbus a 380. But have you ever been on the airplane? If yes, on what kind of plane have you been and what airline did you fly?
I've been on a Boeing 777-200 (Continental Airlines) Manchester UK - New York USA. Airbus A319 (easyJet) Liverpool - Amsterdam. Boeing 737-800 (Ryanair) Liverpool - Dublin.
Continental was a great airline. Very polite and friendly staff.
Not sure which airline will be the next but it can be Air France, Lufthansa or China Southern Airlines. All three are scheduled to receive A380's in 2009.
In fact the next A380 could go to Malaysia Airlines. The 1st A380 designated to Malaysia Airlines is MSN-018 which places it next after Emirates A6-EDD but also before Qantas VH-OQC which was delivered to Qantas today. It's a bit complicated! LOL
I'm really not sure. I received a private message from someone who works at Airbus Toulouse Factory and they told me that the Airbus A380 for Air France and Lufthansa where currently in development but never gave me a definitive answer as to which one was next due to the restrictions they have. They never mentioned China Southern or Malaysia Airlines. I'm intrigued as to which one will be next and will but i'm determined to find out the answer sooner or later.
I would like to know when is the first Airbus a 380 delivery to Air France and Lufthansa? Plus me I leave in the island of Montreal and I would like to tell you:''Air France will put on Paris-Montreal route the first Airbus a 380''. Maybe Emirates will put on Airbus a 380 on Dubai-Montreal route because they has ordered 58 Airbuses a 380.
The Air France Montreal (YUL) - Paris (CDG) A380 flight was supposed to start on April 2009. But I know this will not happen because of Airbus delays... we should expect it somewhere around Sept.2009 according to me... :-). I live in Montréal too. I cant wait :o]
I think Air France will receive their first one very soon, Airbus met it's delivery target in 2008 and have only slashed their target for 2009 by 3 planes. They expect to deliver 18 this year (6 more than 2008). I have been in contact with an employee from Airbus in Toulouse who said that the Air France plane will take to the sky very soon (presumably for fiting out at Hamburg or even testing) so an April 2009 launch may not be off the cards yet.
MSN-033 which will eventually wear registration F-HPJA has been pictured on 7 January 2009 complete with its GP7200 engines installed.
Only the tail is painted on the picture. However it is expected to start taking it's maiden flight within the next week or so.
Type: "When will Air France get it's first A380" into Google and then select the link which says "New year welcomes first Air France A380..." to see the picture of the plane at Toulouse.
I saw this link and it says in april 2009 on Paris-Montreal route. But Air Transat declare bancrupcy, it will open the way to the Air France Airbus a 380 on Paris-Montreal route in spring 2009. Plus I would like to know how many Airbus a 380 Air France will receive in 2009?
Sadly I have no idea how many A380's Air France will get in 2009, I would hazard a guess of at least 2-3 based on the MSNs that have been delivered to Toulouse.
Just a quick update really on the Air France Airbus A380. I have it on good authority that it will make it's first flight sometime this week. This will essentially take it to Hamburg in Germany where it will get it's colours and cabin installed.
Air France have apparently announced that they will receive it in October 2009. Lufthansa is not expected to receive theirs until 2010.
It's important to note though that these planes have not been delayed further, it's just their normal lead time.
Hi, I can't find any information about Qantas taking delivery of their 2nd and 3rd A380's. Do you have any reference point online confirming delivery of the new A380's to Qantas. All reports I can find suggest that SIA has 6, Emirates has 3 and Qantas has 1.
This will mean that Qantas are getting closer to launching their Sydney - London A380 service which is expected mid-late January 2009. I can't wait to see the A380 in the new Qantas livery.
Qantas took delivery of their 2nd A380 on 15 December 2008 and will take delivery of their 3rd A380 on 27 December 2008. Qantas will then commence flights to London Heathrow Airport from 16 January 2009. The 2nd A380 in the fleet has been named Hudson Fysh after Qantas' first Managing Director.
dude!! I was in a first class suite...my god its like a hotel room in the sky! Suites are like the ones from the a340-500, own mini bar...big screen TV's, I think it was 19' or 22' big. New upgraded ICE system, and of course GREAT cabin crew
Thanks for the comment. It is always nice to hear from people with close ties to particular airlines, aircraft and airports etc. Your dad flew the plane very well. Did he fly the plane in slowly for people to get pictures. It seemed to take a while to go past for some reason. If he did, tell him i'm grateful. Thanks again for the post.
Yep definitely. If you look for my video Heathrow Action #1 you can see her taxiing to the gate ready for boarding. I decided not to stay in London to film the Singapore one go out on Monday as I have quite a few of them already :0)
nice vid, after the emraites landed i ran to the bus to get to the other runway coz i saw the singapore taxiing to the runway look good to see them nose to nose, made me late back to sixth form but was worth it
My friend flies on the big bird this coming Saturday 6 December, Lon - Dubai. I get to fly on her on 28 December Dubai - Lon. I will post a video up after that trip, just keep checking my videos!
I think it is better described as wake turbulence as opposed to backdraft. I would have to say that it is worse on the A380 but that is to be expected due to its much larger size. She is a very impressive aircraft.
I so agree with you about the livery, it does look very classy in the Emirates colours. I have to say I am really looking forward to seeing the A380 in Qantas colours too. Do you know when that will happen? Great video, Tell me is there a backdraft after she passes over head?
Qantas have already taken delivery of their first Airbus A380 and plan to introduce Sydney-London services from around mid-january though as far as I can work out nothing is officially set in stone with no exact dates.
There is a back draft. It got very blowy when she went past almost to the extent that I nearly got blew off balance. It's because I was so close to the plane when she came in to land. It was an awesome sight.
This plane really suits the Emirates livery, or should I say the Emirates livery really suits the plane. Great video. Your A380 collection is going great.
Whilst at Heathrow today filming this I filmed an additional 22 Airlines (approximately 50-60 individual aircraft) and am in the process of uploading them. Aircraft including Virgin, Air Canada, Air New Zealand, Air India etc. I'm getting quite a collection. I even have one of an aborted landing and go around by a Lufthansa plane.
Thanks for the comment, keep a look out for my other new videos :0)

isteele00 1 year ago
I can't remeber which reg this one was. I think it may have been A6-EDA but can't be sure.
Air France and Lufthansa are very unlikely to send A380's to LHR so my guess as to who will be next is likely to be Korean Air or British Airways.
There is a very small possibility that China Southern may fly one of theirs into LHR too.

My brother-in-law flew on the A 380 to Perth with Singapore Airlines, he tryly loved it.Both Singapore and Emerates are wonderful airlines.

It's unbelieveable how quiet the A380 is despite its massive size. Rolls Royce, GE and Airbus have done an amazing job in this area of the design.

dude!! I was in a first class suite...my god its like a hotel room in the sky! Suites are like the ones from the a340-500, own mini bar...big screen TV's, I think it was 19' or 22' big. New upgraded ICE system, and of course GREAT cabin crew

Thanks for the video. My Dad was flying it and I was unable to make it to Heathrow to see him so it was nice to see the video.

Thanks again for the post.

if u look in the backgroud at 1:13 u can see singapores A380 which took off about 10 mins after this one arrived

Yep definitely. If you look for my video Heathrow Action #1 you can see her taxiing to the gate ready for boarding. I decided not to stay in London to film the Singapore one go out on Monday as I have quite a few of them already :0)

Oh right. I stand corrected. Thanks for the video and your comments

Is the backdraft worse with the A380 or less than other aircraft. Is that the right word?
puiear 3 years ago
I think it is better described as wake turbulence as opposed to backdraft. I would have to say that it is worse on the A380 but that is to be expected due to its much larger size. She is a very impressive aircraft.

Beatiful! she came over Balham at 11.15 this morning.

I so agree with you about the livery, it does look very classy in the Emirates colours. I have to say I am really looking forward to seeing the A380 in Qantas colours too. Do you know when that will happen? Great video, Tell me is there a backdraft after she passes over head?
puiear 3 years ago 2
Qantas have already taken delivery of their first Airbus A380 and plan to introduce Sydney-London services from around mid-january though as far as I can work out nothing is officially set in stone with no exact dates.
mcpcshowcase 3 years ago
There is a back draft. It got very blowy when she went past almost to the extent that I nearly got blew off balance. It's because I was so close to the plane when she came in to land. It was an awesome sight.

This plane really suits the Emirates livery, or should I say the Emirates livery really suits the plane. Great video. Your A380 collection is going great.

Thank you.
I am really pleased how it turned out.
