I wonder if anyone has ever considered making a film about her extraordinary life and talent...Cate Blanchett would make an incredible Tori! They could be twins.
have you listened to the BBC interview where they suggest a movie be made of her life and she says "Can Cate Blanchett play me, please?!":) I thought it was lovely that she'd also acknowledge the resemblance:)
lol finger slipped...I was saying, if you are trying to really keep to the rhythm. It's much easier to sing this if you slow the song down and just accompany it on piano, like she did on Isaac Mizrahi's show. (The "green hat" video.) She does sound tired too, here. "Girl" near the beginning is actually flat, and Tori's voice is usually really spot-on with pitch. But this one really just is hard to sing, much as I love it.
This is actually a very hard song to sing. Try it if you don't believe me. First, it hovers right around the natural break in Tori's voice, between her chest voice and her high soprano. "Bread" and "word" here fall on awkward notes for her range. The jump between the "I'm" and "SO sad" is a hard one to hit correctly if you're tired vocally. And the song somehow doesn't have any good places to breathe. You have to catch quickie breaths all throughout if you are trying to really keep to the
Funny how tastes can differ, planetsound: I actually find it's the least captivating version of this song I have heard to date. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad performance, I just find it was somewhat flat.
hehe, nothing wrong with that. The Tori fan base is often divided ;)
What I like about this performance is that she hadn't developed certain habits picked up later in the tour. The piano is more basic, the extra percussion isn't there (I think it's better without). Even the vocals are slightly different. I think it works great stripped down like this.
Although the first performance with the band, it remains my favourite.

@brainboob Well Cate could play Tori for the last 15 years of her life quite convincingly.

She looks so much better here than as of late...like, her hair looks better curly than straight with the bangs, ya know?

She does look a lot like Cate Blanchett here - I've noticed that she does in a lot of the photos during the Scarlet's Walk days....

@SilverLining333 I've thought that before, too. I think their eyes and skin tone are quite similar.

The bass is a bit heavy for this song...especially during the chorus.
labplanalp 2 years ago
yeah your right lab... its not flowing very well with the bass being played like that... too heavy for sure
